| Stanley Cup Winner!!!! Posted: 6/19/2006 8:22:30 PM | First off - and then to Oil fans!!!!
But seriously, what an exciting game and who else called it but ME!!!!!
The Oil played well. Good on them for making it this far but I knew they'd be exactly as the Flames were in 2004. Their loss may not have even been a loss except for the fact that McTavish is an idiot! Seriously, with your team playing serious dominating offensive hockey 5 on 5 late in the 3rd, why the hell would you pull your goalie with OVER a minute to go? Had he left Markennen in net, there was a serious chance they could have scored and tied it up! Very, VERY dumb on McT's part! But oh well. Good for me they lost!!!
Results coming up!!!! | |
|
| Stanley Cup Winner!!!! Posted: 6/19/2006 8:25:33 PM | | I am pretty choked they lost. But I do have to agree pulling the goalie was a huge mistake. And was it just me or were they really awful at passing tonight? | |
|
| Final Results & Final Winner!!!!!!! Posted: 6/19/2006 8:41:48 PM | Well, 4 out of 7 of us cashed in tonight, with 1 calling the score as well but it was too little too late (sorry Chiefs).
sunshine, Riot & blueeyeddvl each - 1 point. Chiefs - 6 points for calling the score also.
Chiefs - 7 points Riot - 4 points sunshine - 4 points Smack - 3 points lady_bugg - 3 points leafslady - 3 points blueeyddvl - 3 points wantsumfun - 2 points kanadaa - 1 point firedrill - 1 point tick tock - 1 point Justin Case Sr - 1 point
Now, we factor in Round 4 predictions. 5 points for calling the right team and another 5 points for calling it in the correct number of games!
Only 3 out of 11 called the Canes to win, Smack in 5, blueeyeddvl in 6 and Riot in 7. Therefore, Smack and blueeyeddvl get 5 points and Riot gets 10!
Riot - 14 points Smack - 8 points blueeyeddvl - 8 points Chiefs - 7 points sunshine - 4 points lady_bugg - 3 points leafslady - 3 points wantsumfun - 2 points kanadaa - 1 point firedrill - 1 point tick tock - 1 point Justin Case Sr - 1 point
So winner of the Stanley Cup playoff predictions (as well as regular season play) is: Riot 13!!!!!!!
Thanks to everyone who participated, you're all awesome! Stay tuned as we do have our own version of the awards presentations.

| Stanley Cup Winner!!!! Posted: 6/19/2006 8:48:45 PM | | This is for Riot13's post about stupid move by MacTavish. I don't think it was a dumb move at all. The Oilers HAD to get a goal. There was no if's, and's or but's about it. They needed that goal. It just worked out that Carolina caught a break and got the empty netter. It happens. Great Series. Good job by Edmonton coming back from 3-1 in the series. | |

| Awards Winners Posted: 6/19/2006 9:33:52 PM | Staying true to Q's vision, I've compiled a list of awards to be given out to select individuals based on their regular season performance. If you didn't get one, that's okay. There's always next year! Remember, it's all in good fun!
First and foremost, the Stanley Cup winner & Conn Smyth Trophy winner: Riot13 (Ah, thanks you shouldn't have! I would like to thank....)
And here we go!
Rocket Richard Award (given to the player who accumulated the most points at the end of regular season play): Riot 13! Thanks to a great showing in Round 1 (40 points with 5 series nailed with 3 having correct number of games called). Good competition from Q, Brian, leafslady, & chiefs, all of whom had lingered around the top spot in some shape or form.
Comeback Kid Award (given to the player who had to make up a lot of ground in order to get to where they ended up in regular season play): leafslady! Smilnlady & leafslady duked it out, as both joined later on in the game but made great strides to land in the top 6. However, leafslady joined a bit later and made up more ground to end in the #2 position. Smilnlady gets Honorable Mention.
High Rollers Award (given to the player who accumulated the most points in regular season play without having to play that many games): wantsumfun! He ended up in 5th position making only round predictions, with a great showing in Round 1 (40 points).
Steve Smith Award (given to the player with the biggest mistep, causing them to lose as a result of such mistep, like Steve Smith scoring on his own net in Game 7 of an Oilers/Flames series): Q! Poor thing, we haven't heard from or seen him around since he changed his final game prediction, thus landing him in 3rd position as opposed to 1st in regular season play. He also didn't make number of game predictions in Round 1 which further added to his not finishing in top spot. Poor thing. Hope all is well with him.
Eric Lindros Award (given to the player who showed the most promise at the beginning of regular season play and thus had high expectations, only to lose steam towards the end): Brian! Q, Brian, & chiefs duked it out, all 3 having held the top spot at some point in time but due to certain teams, caused them to lose steam and drop in the standings. This was a close one but Brian, unfortunately dropped the most (from top spot to 8th).
Murphy's Law Award (given to the player just couldn't catch a break in regular season play, no matter how hard he tried): blueeyeddvl! Despite being with us right from the beginning, he just couldn't catch a break! Things started coming together towards the end but it was too little, too late. He ended up in 13th place (even his placement is an unlucky number)! In the playoffs, poor thing ends up tied for 2nd as he missed winning by only one game!
Stuck In The Middle Award (given to the player who despite playing a lot of games, just couldn't break away from the pack): Smack! Poor guy, just couldn't break away from the middle of the pack and ends up 7th in regular season play, where he's lurked for most of the regular season.
Joe Who Award (given to the player who placed the highest despite never getting any ice time): Hungry Eyes! He ended up in 10th spot by playing only 1 time (guessing Round 1 predictions only and getting 35 points based only on those predictions).
Hat Trick Award (given to the player with the most points in a single game): Smilnlady! She scored 12 points when in Round #1, she called 2 games with correct scores in both games that day! Again, she had to duke it out with leafslady who collected 8 points (3 out of 3 games correct plus one game with correct scores) but this one, she won!
Half An Award (given to the player who just couldn't hold the top spot on his own and had to share it - this award is to be shared as well): chiefs! He tied for top spot with Brian as well as leafslady but never had a chance to hold that top honor on his own. Poor thing. Even in the playoffs, he surges to the top spot with a last minute desperation play (coming back from injury) only to lose it in the finals.
Congrats to all winners!
And congrats to everyone else! It's been a fun playoff predictions!

| Game 5 Results Posted: 3/22/2007 2:22:52 PM | ok its works by first picking who will win each macth up and how many games it will take. i think this year instead of 3 rounds being counted then the finals as its own. all 4 rounds count for the winner of the prediton thingy.
scoring worked as 5 points a correct predtion in the series 5 points the correct about of games 5 points for correct score in game 1 point a correct winner of game 1 point for calling which ot
thats basicly it....if anyone can think of something good to add speak up and be heard..
i am going to win this year btw

| Hockey Playoff Predictions Posted: 4/8/2007 9:29:41 AM | western conf wings vs flames- great macth up flames and wings split the season seriers at 2 games each. with both teams only having 1 goal differnce in the whole seasons gf. goaltending looks to be key in this macth up. kipper having an slight edge in save%. flames win in 6 games ducks vs wild-will the ducks be able to ascert there pysical domanice or will it be the speedy Gaborik, and demitra that take advantage. wild have one of the hottist goalies coming in, but giggy and byz both have been able to win in the playoffs before. wild win in 6 games. nucks vs stars-stars are getting healty at the right time. however on some nights look like a joke and others look like they could be the real deal. goaltending again could be big in this one. Turco seems to be great in the reg season and then fall aprt in the playoffs. however Luongo not being playoff tested makes it hard saying what will happen. stars win in 7 games
preds vs sharks-great macthup. could be the best macth up in the west. i think its going 7. preds in 7 games
eastern conf sabers vs leafs or islaand sabers in 5 games devils vs bolts devils in 6 thrashers vs rangers thrashers in 6 sens vs pens sens in 7
didnt really feel like writting anything about the east. dont see enough to go into detail.
go flames go in sutter we trust
|
| Hockey Playoff Predictions Posted: 4/8/2007 6:17:05 PM | | funny how everyone hates the leafs eh...like they did something wrong. well whatever. for all those people who wanted them out...happy? cause you shouldn't be. believe it or not...but the only two teams who gave the Buffalo Sabres a run in any games this year were Ottawa and Toronto..and with the leafs out, and penguins about to crush the sens...Buffalo has the stanley cup...so ya good luck. | |
|
| Hockey Playoff Predictions Posted: 4/8/2007 6:25:56 PM | Simple formula, usually good for three of the four semifinalists every year.
This year's final four: Minnesota vs San Jose Pittsburgh vs New York Rangers
Formula? Look at the last 20 games of the season. Take the hottest two teams from each conference. It's as good as any formula out there and it has made me a few bucks in hockey pools.
