- That overtime in the Dallas/Vancouver game was painful to watch. Not a whole lot of chances. Pretty boring hockey.
- That overtime in the San Jose/Nashville game was not painful to watch. Amazing hockey back and forth. Nice to see Nabby playing so well. Anyone know what happened with their goalie coach? Apparently he passed away that same day.
- Didn't really watch any highlights of the Ottawa or Anaheim games so I can't comment. | |

Nabakov made some great saves in the OT period.
As for Anaheim/Minny, if it wasn't for Backstrom it wouldn't have been close. I think I counted on one hand the good chances Minny had in the game.
Was still at work for the Pitt/Ottawa game. Had the computer tuned to the Pittsburgh radio feed, just to hear the announcer. He's classic. His comments after Pittsburgh goals have nothing whatsoever to do with hockey. It's hilarious. I can't remember what he said after Crosby's goal, but I laughed.
I hope TSN is broadcasting the Rangers/Thrashers series. I'm thinking that should be a high scoring affair. | |

So I bombed night 2 of Game #1's. Not a single one correct! Need to switch up my strategy.
The results:
Vancouver 5 Dallas 4 (4OT) (from last night)
Luongo - 72 saves! Ridiculous!
Detroit 4 - Calgary 1
New York Rangers 4 - Atlanta 3
New Jersey 5 - Tampa Bay 3
Buffalo 4 - New York Islanders 1
Chiefs takes a commanding lead by calling every game tonight correctly (1 point per game) plus 5 extra points for calling the correct score in the Buf/NYI game. Add a point for the Van/Dal game from last night . 10 points
Forever14 clutches to 2nd place with an impressive night as well, correctly calling the NYR/Atl game with correct scores (1+5) and correctly calling the Buff/NYI game (1 point). Add a point for the Van/Dal game. 8 points
Next up, Island Jokester with a great performance tonight! Called every game and got very close to calling the score on the NYR/Atl game. 4 points
Smack follows closely, correctly calling Buff & NJ for 2 points. Tied with 2 points is Korrosive, correctly calling Det (and almost the score) & Buff.
Bottom of the barrel is yours truly, picking up a single point in yesterday's Van/Dal game.

Generally, after winning the first, the visiting team has a letdown because going into the series the mindset for the road team is always there to split the first two games. The Sharks will deny that at today's pres conference, but anyone who has ever played through such a situation knows otherwise.
Vancouver 4 Dallas 2...opposite situation here. Most agree that Vancouver was lucky to win Game 1 in front of their home fans. They will have to play a better game tonight and I think they will. Going into the fourth overtime period I was thinking to myself, will whoever loses this game be able to overcome? I don't think so.
Minny 3 Anaheim 1 (empty netter)...My brain says pick Anaheim but my gut says Minny. Going with my gut today. | |
