| Wednesday Games Posted: 4/16/2008 7:39:05 PM | Looks like a lot of people called the Pitt/Ott series dead on! I'll tally that one up in a sec.
Happy birthday smitten, but too bad your Sens couldn't stop making asses of themselves in time to get one more game in.
korrosive, just how was your prize last year (date with hockeybabe)? I must admit I got ripped off that first year. Prize was drinks on me - so I had drinks by myself!
What should our prize be this year? Any suggestions?

Nice to see the Ottawa fans give their club a nice round of applause at the end of the season. They've come a long way over their 11 year playoff run. I remember thinking I was on mars ten years ago there when their fans boooed them bigtime off the ice heading back to Washington down 3-1 in games in the east semifinal.
Sens were real young back then, 8th seed and getting shut right down with a Ron Wilson trap headlined by Esa the super-pest. I thought their fans were pretty bizarre to be booing their team since it was really way more than likely the last time they saw them for the year.
'k..enuff of the memory lane stuff. back to biz...

| Thursday Games Posted: 4/16/2008 9:38:15 PM | Montreal 5 Boston 3 After a fairly defensive series, it opens up a little bit and the Bruins go home Washington 3 Philly 1 Dallas 5 Anaheim 3 Colorado 4 Minnesota 2 San Jose 6 Calgary 1. Calgary is done. That collapse in the final 5 minutes of game 4 totally ruined their confidence and it will show here. Thornton finally wakes up.
As you can see, my theme for the night is high scoring.

|
| Thursday Games Posted: 4/17/2008 11:10:06 AM | U are right praire pundit,
Pittsburgh is one of those up&coming teams with all of that talent. Ottowa wasn't too impressive their last 60 games of the season. And not sure if their trades improved anything. Pittsburgh also proved to be solid without Crosby in the linesup. It should be interesting.
|
| Thursday Games Posted: 4/17/2008 1:54:30 PM | Ottawa sure didn't show much in the way of character without their captain. He must be the only guy on that club with heart; well maybe Anton the A-train Volchenkov as well. Hell, even the leafs wooped their a.ss a few years back missing 6 regulars from their lineup including their captain. Sens just never showed up. I think there's about 6 or 8 players on that club i would keep including Volchenkov, Phillipps, Foligno, Alfie, Fish, Vermette, young Bass and Lee.
The rest of the club missed their assignments completely and i would seriously think of moving both Heatley and Jason Turnovers Spazza. Lots of rumours floating around about a possible Luongo/Spazza deal. But i guess the little wife will have the final say in that one. Funny how if it weren't for hockey, Luongo wouldn't even have worked in Florida, and if it weren't for hockey, he would never even have met his wife. Stuff like that gets right in my craw. And funny too how Biron can shut out the caps 2 zip while his wife is having a baby.
Does that mean Biron's wife isn't as important as Luongo's? Or does it all mean anything except one guy seems somewhat henpecked. It's funny because Felix Potvin was never the same goalie once his wife had a baby and the leafs ended up bringing in Cujo to bring the goaltending back up to speed and sent felix onward eventually to the abyss. If i were vancouver I'd move luongo while he's still a hot commodity. I see in the magic mirror his game tailing off over the next year or two.
Hard for me to get a good read on the Pens from that series. I realize they swept them, but it shouldn't even have been that close if that makes any sense. I find the pens very good, but maybe a wee tad sloppy finishing plays off around the net. A little too much fancy smancy stuff maybe. We'll see as the playoffs continue, but right now i only see maybe one club with a chance at taking down whoever comes out of the west, and I'm not telling who i think that is just yet. But it's not Pitt and it's not the habs.
If i could only pick one guy off that roster to help me start a new club I would grab that Staal kid in a heartbeat. I really like his game.
