Back on topic: Playoff predictions East final: Flyers in 7.
If Gary Bettman is trying to showcase an offence full of 'divers', well good luck with that. I kinda liked the pens until I watched that last series. Talented club that makes a mockery of the rule book. Malkin getting away with murder behind the play. Big Darian and Jason Smith will hopefully put an end to Cindy Crosby's attempt to make this great game of hockey look like soccer matches with all his diving. Somebody should give him training wheels to help him stay up on his feet. I've liked what I've seen of Fleury, but no team has gotten into his kitchen the way the Flyers will.
game 1: Pens 6-4
In the west: Stars in 6. First time the Wings will have to hook up with a club that not only has stellar goaltending, but also three top flite centres, and two of them connie smyth winners. Plus whatever advantage Wings had with the restover is negated with the long start to this one. Stars should have caught their breath by the time this one starts up.
Game 1: Stars 4-3
So, is the new conspiracy theory that Bettman is determined to showcase this young Pens team? Or is it his goal to prove that this new whacked out league called the NHL can have a team finish in the cellar one season and go to the Cup Final the next? I guesss we'll just have to let the refs decide that one. Just kidding korrosive...

| Asking a favor Posted: 5/6/2008 9:48:30 AM | Hi I was just reading Cincin3500 message on firing Gary Bettman because he's going to fine Al for swinging the Octopus over his head before the game.
Maybe the on ice crew are tired of cleaning the blood and guts up left over on the ice!!! I notice a lot of people are getting their backs up over Gary Bettman!!! Remember folks it is because of him that the game is exciting as it is now because of the salary cap!! You only had to watch the last game between Dallas and the Sharks going into 4th overtime to prove that the players are more evenly matched!!
And teams traditionally like Detroit, and the Rangers to name just a few whom in the past have had big pockets can't just cherry pick the best players!!! Oh by the way you can keep Hasek...he'll probably retire this year anyway!!
I think Gary Bettman should run for presidency....he's Margaret Thatcher of the modern era!! So sorry I won't be voting to fire Gary but instead log onto : www.Garybettmanforpresident.com
Detroit has its traditions with throwing the Octopus on the ice....that's fine! Now every hockey team should start throwing poor little animals on the ice!!! What a riot would would have on our hands then!!!
P.S. Watch out the WWF will be out to save the Octopus soon!!!

| Asking a favor Posted: 5/7/2008 10:57:04 PM | Wow, sorry guys. I didn't have any intentions on ruffling so many feathers. Really. Please accept my apology and understand I come from Hockey Town and this is what WE are passionate about right now. I get now that not everyone is however, and I do apologize.
If you want to boot me out I understand, but if I'm allowed to stay I say;
3-1Wings
2-1 Penguins | |

| Conference Predictions Posted: 5/7/2008 11:05:22 PM |
So we get points for predicting the score of every game in each series? I thought it was for who will win the series and in how many games lol.
Yep! 1 point for each correct game prediction, an extra 5 for correct score, and 1 extra for OT called if correct score. (However, minus 1 point if OT is called and there's no OT, along with correct score.)
Series winner gets 5 points and correct number of games gets another 5 points, provided you picked the correct team to win.

funny how your so called hockey town has troble selling out games. we live in hockey country, where the game was born and lives.the hearty and soul of hockey in here in canada. go to any one of the 6 and you wont see a false name put on a city, you would see pure passion for the team and game. most of us are still wacthing even though our team are out, most of yoru so called hockey town doesnt wacth hockey.
there is a reason why the nhl is making more money now, and thats the canadian dollar is higher then its been in years.
i for one think that freak show needed to be stopped sooner, a grown man waving a dead animal around in the air above his head. where else is that ok to do? what kind of twisted person gets off on that? how about the lions waive around a dead puppy over there heads after they score a td.
it just shows really how screwed up the world and yanks have become, that they are trying to fight for the right to kill without reason, then cheer as the animal is swung around in the air. as a nature lover makes me sick, as a hockey fan it makes me feel ashamed that it was ever ok, as a person it makes me think how truly messed we have become.
you do know that Octopuses are highly intelligent, probably more intelligent than any other order of invertebrates. Maze and problem-solving experiments have shown that they do have both short- and long-term memory. In laboratory experiments, octopuses can be readily trained to distinguish between different shapes and patterns.
Octopuses have also been observed in what some have described as play: repeatedly releasing bottles or toys into a circular current in their aquariums and then catching them. Octopuses often break out of their aquariums and sometimes into others in search of food. They have even boarded fishing boats and opened holds to eat crabs.
read on the animal before you murder it for no use, if you are going to eat it fine, but to just kill such a beauitful creature for yoru sick joy then seek some help. if the Octopus had a longer life span they would make a great pet.
now you know alittle more maybe you will take that and do something with it by not being a follower and being a leader. if you let a fewe wings fans know and they let a few know then maybe you could stop this cruelty to animals.
|
| Asking a favor Posted: 5/8/2008 4:59:25 AM | Gee smackem lighten up. What cruelty, the Octopi in Hockey Town are already dead. Bought in a fish store the occupants of Hockey Town are just trying to put the fishies back on ice. Going out in the first round every year(as Calgary does) now that is cruelty to humans. Besides the NHL is already considering a softening to that rule. Al Sabotka shall shall swing again!
Detroit is HOCKEY TOWN.
|
| Asking a favor Posted: 5/8/2008 6:28:28 AM | its not a light matter, i think its sick and twisted. would it be ok to swing a dead puppy if it was already dead? if not then it should be ok to swing a dead octopi. you do know that in some countries, octopuses are on the list of experimental animals on which surgery may not be performed without anesthesia.
and besides they are just an amazing animal. im sure if steve erwin was still with us he would agree with me on thinking it is sick and twisted. its not a surprise something like this would be ok in the states though.
considering that philly, ducks, wild, wings, sharks, pens, rangers, habs, sabers, devils, sens, nucks, canes, aves, and oilers are the only teams in the last 3 years to make the 2nd round. thats half the nhl hoever out of those 15, oilers, aves, canes, habs, and the nucks have missed the playoffs in the last 3 years. take the sharks they need a massive overhaul before they could be considered a contender with the weak play they show in the playoffs.
no team in the last 3 years that has beaten the flames has had enough in the tank to win the west.
it seems to me that the wings were out first round in those 3 years 2. beaten by a massive underdog.
"Detroit is HOCKEY TOWN." yeah thats its name given by pr. i guess its cause everyone in there wears a red wings jersey? is the loudest stadium? sells out? has the most cups? has the most cups for its time in the nhl? has tons of people still on waiting list even though it hasnt made it out of the first round? hummm not one of those........all seem to be different cities in canada. i have friends that live in detriot and only 1 of those wacthes hockey, add in i told him about hockey night in canada and how many games we get wants to move here. when hockey isnt even on the top tear channel in the city its played (espn) then its not hockey town as most people dont care.
if it wasnt for canada hockey wouldnt be here. canada pays for a massive chuck of the nhl whole revenue over each season. and thats why you go to any city in canada and thats hockey town. just shows a lack of education and information by the fans of the wings.

| Stanley Cup Winners Posted: 5/8/2008 6:40:09 AM | | I agree that swinging the Octapuss is pretty sick. It strikes a nerve with me too. Anyways, looking forward to some good hockey. | |
