| Friday's Game Posted: 5/9/2008 1:14:24 AM | I think most of us have done so already but if you haven't posted for tomorrow's game, please do so by 2pm MST (4pm EST).
Pitt/Philly
One extra point will be given out to all players who guess correctly provided Sydney Crosby DOESN'T flake out sometime during the course of the game.

| Friday's Game Posted: 5/9/2008 6:52:35 AM | I'm starting to know how it feels to be an Ottawa Senaturd in my free fall here. Hopefully the tournament will end before i hit rock bottom. Time for my Jason Spazza wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth: "Geez everyone knows I'm good, I don't know what the problem is. When I'm in first I get the calls, but when I'm not in first, I get no calls. Meanwhile Wings get a very questionable 5 on 3 to start the game and a goal allowed that should never have been allowed. 2-1 is more the score it should have been. One thing consistent about this years reffing is that it's consistently inconsistent. "" There. That's my Spazza rant.
So with that said, the apparently flatfooted Stars of last night should take over this series as it progresses here. Besides, Bettman has to keep selling this game to the southern states, so it's almost a slam dunk that Dallas will be this years southern states rep in the Final. Next year it'll either be the Panthers or San Josey. Sell that game Bettman old boy. Get out there and sell sell sell.
Looks like i have to head to Niagara to look after some personal business so here's some scores for the indefinite future.
Games 2: West: Stars 5-3 East: Flyers 5-3
Games 3: Stars 5-4 Flyers goon it up back in wachovia in an old fashioned rock 'em sock 'em affair and just pound and punish the Pens 4-1. Hatcher pummels Roberts right into retirement.
(p.s. Beeny, I got your email. I'll try and work on it a bit tonight and then I'll tidy it up for you when I get back. Don't forward it on on Monday yet. It's not ready the way it is. It needs more meat to it.)
Let's go Flyers....Let's go Flyers Cheers all

| Playoff picks Posted: 5/9/2008 7:20:47 AM | msg 1823: """...Ho hum this is boring."""
Last time i heard a wings fan whining about how successfully boring his club is with his 'ho hum' stuff was Groundhog day. Wings proceeded to lose 10 of their next 11 after the ho hum comment. Deja vu all over again???.

| Question Posted: 5/9/2008 7:34:32 AM | Have anyone read Steve Yzerman or Mark Messier's books?
I came across them both in Barens & Noble and was wondering if one of you hard-cores did any reading on either one.

| Stanley Cup winners Posted: 5/9/2008 10:10:49 AM | Hi everyone, Well I have to add in my comments on this. First this year Detroit will beat the Stars in 6 and then beat Sid the Kid and his baby pens in 5...Hasek will come back in goal and do his final swansong!!!
So we're hand the cup to Detroit this year and they can keep their swinging of the Octopi. Next year a new revamped Ottawa Senators team will win the cup especially now our hero Sir Danny Heatley will have Rick Nash as his new line mate and Spazza it's time to go!!!..Pat Burns will be our new coach!!! And our new tradition will be Spartacat will be tossing Ottawa parliamentary senators over his head....maybe it might wake them up and help them out to make positive decisions to help the forestry industry here in the deep North that many people are ,now forclosing on their properties, declaring bankruptcy or even committing suicide because they lost their logging business after generations of ownership, some going into receivership after being in the family for over 150 years....Unbelievable!!!
Thank our lucky stars we have food on the table and a roof over your head!!!
And on a sweeter note we're enjoy Sid having a few knocks tonight but they're squeak out a win!

| Question Posted: 5/9/2008 11:17:19 AM |
Have anyone read Steve Yzerman or Mark Messier's books?
I came across them both in Barens & Noble and was wondering if one of you hard-cores did any reading on either one.
I have not seen or read the Messier book your talking about. However, there are several books on Stevie Y.
I'm thinking you are referring to Yzerman; The Making of a Champion by: Douglas Hunter And yes, I did read this book a few years back. I will say that the text, while informative, does not leave you with the intense feeling that Steve leaves you with personally. Regardless how you feel about the Wings, this is a man of high standards, not only in the game of hockey, but in the game of life. He is an example in everything he does. I get choked up just thinking of all the things he has quietly done for those with no voice, he is selfless in his ways and as humble as they come.
There is another book that I know of, written for children, that I have not read. It is called Hockeytown Hero: The Steve Yzerman Story by: Shelley Lazarus. Another couple of years and I will have my daughter reading it. As I know I would be happy for both of my girls to be influenced by such character.
I should also mention something put out by The Detroit Free Press on him as well. The Captain: 22 Seasons, 3 Cups, 1 Team Another great resource for facts, trophy's won, etc. You could write 10 books on him. Hope this answers your question.

| Question Posted: 5/9/2008 11:52:16 AM | Thanks.
My city used to have a team by the name of the Hartford Whalers (now the Carolina Hurricanes).
Ron Francis & Kevin Dineen are legends for this town like Steve Yzerman is to Detroit.

passion/song was the only one to call the score also, therefore gets 7 points.

It's looking like the Wings and Pens. Can Detroit and Lidstrom become the first team with a Euro leader to win Stanley? Will Stanley return to it's favorite home... "Hockey Town U.S.A."?

| Saturday Game Posted: 5/10/2008 3:48:49 PM | | Sorry for being late on this Riot. I was on the highway all day (still getting it in before the gam stats ... just after 2 pm). I see there's the over/under addition. That kind of puts a crimp in my plan. I was going to say 3-2 Detroit vut it's worth too much not to go over, so I will say 4-2 detroit | |
