Yay for me, I finally get a score right and no one else did!

As for late game predictions, I've let a few people go (including you there kaos), provided it wasn't too close to game start. If the game started at 5pm, and your picks came in at 4:45pm, I prob won't count it, but if it was at 4pm, it may be okay. Going forward, just to keep things fair, all late picks will be null and void. I wanna be fair you know. | |

Anyhoo, if the cumulative score is over 5 in this game, an extra 5 points will be awarded to those who picked correctly. For whatever reason, this never seems to happen!

Posted: 5/12/2008 2:22:48 PM | OK I am going to make a request here: No more "bonus points" for certain game situations. Those added features are often posted AFTER a lot of us have made our picks for the game in question and could effectively change our picks if we had seen them beforehand. It's not always possible for people to get to a computer between the time that you are posting the next "bonus points scenario" and the imposed deadline.
No one who posted their scores before tonight's "bonus points scenario" was posted picked the game to be over 5 goals total. I can only speak for myself, but because I had already posted my score for tonight's game, I didn't bother coming back to this thread before the deadline. I was actually coming on here to post tomorrow's score, but I guess I will wait.
I realize that it's a fun added feature, but if you're going to do that, maybe you could tell us at the beginning of the series.

Posted: 5/12/2008 7:43:11 PM | prairiep, i think you misunderstood the bonus points. You don't have to call the score to be over 5 to win the bonus points, all you have to do is call the correct team to win.
For example, anyone who picked Detroit to win tonight (including you) got the 5 bonus points because the overall score was over 5. Of course, if you called the score like smitten did (good job!), you also get 5 more points and of course the point for the win! Damn Datsyuk, that could've been me with the extra 5 but for that last minute goal! | |

kaos, prairiep, cincin, riot, & sunshine get the win and the 5 bonus points for the game going over 5.
smitten gets an extra 5 for a total of 11 for also getting the score!
beeny, sly, passion/song, smack, korrosive, & chiefs did not cash in because they picked Dallas to win.
We don't have to do these bonus points if that is the general concensus. I just thought it would make it more fun as the playoffs wind down to the final games. It also gives people who aren't faring so well some hope in this pool. I compare it to instead of wagering $5 on a game, we're wagering $20 in order to win more. Let me know what you all think! | |

Posted: 5/12/2008 8:06:55 PM | i like the bonus, how are we doing the final round? if we are doing over/under for points then calling the line should be worth something 2. not so much a fan on over/under. thinks you could get creative riot and have 2 or 3 things to take for the bonus and name it in your pick.
example. first goal, last goal, game winner.

smack, I believe last year we upped the ante for the final - 10 points for correct series prediction and another 10 for correct number of games. The thinking behind this was just like the Stanley Cup final, it really didn't matter where you placed in the regular season, you still had a shot at the Cup. Mind you if we all guess the same, this really wouldn't affect a thing, however, I'm thinking we're all gonna be picking differently, which will make things interesting...

We could continue adding these little bonuses for the final. I'm thinking last year, we may have even upped the ante for individual games, like 3 points instead of 1 for the win. Not sure if I'm keen on that for this year. | |

As a matter of fact, hockey playoffs lack totally without the Toronto franchise having a team in the melee. Love em or hate em...the Leafs draw attention while they are in one or two rounds...and the love/hate factor dwindles when they are not in them....something which has lacked the past 3 years. Lets hope they can get in for at least one round next year... for interest of fans and Leaf haters alike. 42 shouldnt be just a jacket size... | |

So far the general consensus is for Philly to take tomorrow's game...
Problem is, I hate Philly... but I did pick this series to go to 6! What was I smoking at the time! I thought I had picked it to go to 5. Frig!
