| Finals!!!! Posted: 5/14/2008 4:19:01 AM | Both Turco and Biron need to steal a game or we'll finally see a Stanley Cup handed out before the first of June since the first time since I don't know how long. I can't remember the two conference finals ever being sweeps, but then again, my memory's not what it used to be either. This should be the earliest end to the season since the 12 team days of the 70's.
The league was on pace to have more playoff games than last year since 3 of the first rounds went the distance. Revenue sharing and salary caps tell me we'll see the Pens and Wings wrap their series up on home ice.
Game 4: Stars 3-2 Flyers 4-3

i bet the leafs sign wilson as their next coach.

| GAME 4 Posted: 5/14/2008 9:11:41 AM | Riot,
I love your idea for the finals. Can we "double down" at intermissions-----> if the score is even, ie 1-1, or 2-2... Just kidding, I'm not trying to kill you.
So I picked the Wings in 5, I have to give one to Dallas.
4-3 Dallas Wednesday
4-2 Flyers Thursday | |
|
| GAME 4 Posted: 5/14/2008 11:40:35 AM | | wings 5 - 3 stars | |
|
| GAME 4 Posted: 5/14/2008 12:50:15 PM | If it were at the Joe it would be Raining Octopi!
Wings 5 Stars 2
Not really sure what revenue sharing and the salary cap have to do with it but what the hey.
|
| GAME 4 Posted: 5/14/2008 7:33:44 PM | | I really like the idea of betting your own points for the finals. | |
|
| GAME 4 Posted: 5/14/2008 7:38:18 PM | Detroit was supposed to score in the last minute
OK I pick philly to win a game in their series so I will say 4-3 philly
|
| GAME 4 Posted: 5/14/2008 8:25:30 PM | Following a trend of ending a series lately, I call a Pittsburgh win in overtime tomorrow to close out the series.
Pittsburgh 2 Philly 1 (ot)
|
| GAME 4 Posted: 5/14/2008 10:03:04 PM | The way I'm guessing, I would get better odd's that Elvis Presley is alive than this next pick.
Pitts 4 Phil 2....I like to think I won't have to light my hair on fire and talk to Elvis in 7-11 store.
|
| GAME 4 Posted: 5/14/2008 10:07:22 PM | I predict Dallas to pull it off. It was a close call before tonight, but I think they will up their game now.
I am sick of the Wings making it. Too predictable, gets old and boring. I can't wait for the old ones to retire to see what happens to the team's game then.
|
| GAME 4 Posted: 5/14/2008 10:12:19 PM | | OK, I actually missed the game tonight because I had to work but did Detroit just really suck arse or were they so friggin pompous, they thought they could let one go just to win it at home? The second part to this question is, if the latter is the case, why friggin bother? No one at home cares anyways... | |

what's a wagger?
It's what the Red Wings were doing on the ice when they discovered there was nothing between their legs tonight!

| Result: Monday, May 12, 2008 Posted: 5/14/2008 10:20:05 PM | | Riot, I have seen Dallas play many times here in Phoenix.. (actually we play them all the time) They are my second favorite team. To watch them, they have a lot of defense and strategy. So, I think......... it might be their strategy. Work the Wings hard in the beginning, give them the arrogant confidence.. then up their game and sweep them off the ice. | |

beeny, smack, prairiep, korrosive, sly, & cincin get 1 point each. No one got the score and no one got the bonus because Detroit was so inept, they could not manage more than a single goal.

Kind of risky don't you think, to wait till you're 0-3 before you up your game?

| Thursday's Game Posted: 5/14/2008 10:46:42 PM | Pitt/Philly
Before 2pm MST (4pm EST), as always...

My pick:
Pitt 4 Philly 2 (Let's finish er off!)

| Thursday's Game Posted: 5/15/2008 4:12:18 AM | Maybe the wins were listenong to TSN before the game. According to them, the finals are already set.
Or maybe they read that CP story that ran yesterday, about the guy who won that Bring Stanley Home contest. First line fo the story was ... "There are three teams still in the hunt for the Stanley Cup, but ..."
|
| Thursday's Game Posted: 5/15/2008 7:11:29 AM | Or maybe they just got beat by a better team on that night.
Pens 5 Flyers 2 Rockey ...falls down the stairs tonight.
Since I am travelling back to Windsor on sat for the finals in Detroit.
Sat. Game
Wings 4 Stars 2 ...Its Over, It's Over ...It's OOOOOOver!

| Thurs thru Sun Games Posted: 5/15/2008 7:40:46 AM | Today: Pittsburgh 4 Philli 2
Saturday: Dallas 3 Detroit 2
Sunday (If there is a Game 5): Pittsburgh 4 Philli 2
|
| Thurs thru Sun Games Posted: 5/15/2008 7:50:28 AM | ...It’s not over ‘til it’s over
2 days rest; Modano, Turco and Morrow finally starting to wake up; Stars hitting game maybe making a small difference here slowly but surely and they're finally winning some draws...Stars dig their way back out of the hole the refs put them in back in Game 1
Game 5: Stars 5 Wings 2 - Turco breaks the spell at the Joe; Ozzy grabs some bench in the third, and they all take a flight back to Dallas...
Hands of stone on the 6 on 3 with under a minute to go last nite. I thought for sure I was finally going to hit a score for the first time since opening night of the playoffs. Just about ready to make my move now.

| Thurs thru Sun Games Posted: 5/15/2008 8:10:48 AM | ps. I doubt leafs will hire Wilson. Wilson absolutely detests the constant negativity of TSN's reporters. TSN did a fine job of editting out his comments a week or so ago when he stormed out of the interview after buddy asked him if he was getting enough out of his captain. What was deleted was """always friggin' negativity with TSN...""" And it's true. TSN's always trying to create some sort of drama every night.
I'm not sure why everyone craps on Ron Wilson. I don't think there's a coach with more wins over the last 4 seasons. i doubt it's his fault his team can't muster up the kohonies to go balls out at playoff time. Myself, i think he overplayed Nabby the last week of the season rather than rest him up a bit. The rest of the club took their foot off the gas pedal once 2nd overall was clinched, but Wilson kept putting nabby in their to try and catch Marty's record of all time wins in a season. He looked pretty much spent in the dallas series, but did rise to the occassion in the triple overtime game.
If Wilson came to TO, I could live with it, but i think he's either not coming back to coach next year at all, or he'll go to Atalanta or Colorado or somewhere where TSN is far far away until playoff time. JMO

| Thurs thru Sun Games Posted: 5/15/2008 8:22:10 AM | | why would you assume i was crapping on wilson?although since you broughht it up,wilson is a great technical coach.unfortunately he is way to full of himself.he consistently blames others and seldom takes responsabiliy when the loses pile up. | |
