That was some good coverage sly.
I just wanted to add to Bettman's excellent decision of waiting so long for game 1. Not only are we waiting forever; but it allowed us to also be playing right on top of, nearly the same start times, as the Pistons play-off games. WTF.
Our economy sucks here, but you can bet people would pull out all the stops for games, both hockey and basketball, but now we have to choose. It would be silly to let local business owners profit from multiple nights, lets cram it all in on the same night.
Good call, don't you think... about as good as some of the officiating you speak of.

I don't understand why the 5 days. They could have started tonight or tomorrow night at worst. Years ago they would have played tonight and tomorrow night. They make them play at that pace all winter most of the time anyway. No reason for it, but it probably helps detroit out. Same bright lights that schedule the Flyer Pens game last sunday to start two hours after the Gold medal world game started. Smart like a new pair of shoes.

Don't want to sound like i'm selling the pens short with the five games, because there's not a lot not to like about the pengueenos. They're a much different cat than that sens team that got there last year. Both those teams have/had unproven goalers and kind of overachieving defence, but the difference was the pens have lots and lots of secondary guys up front that won't get shut down like the sens did after their heatley alfie spazza line. sidenote: Bryan Murray should kiss Mac-T and Hitchcock for the new improved spazza they're sending back to him after the world tourney. The pens have some players the likes of which the sens didn't have last year...ruutu, roberts, sykora, Staal.
They have a real good squad with or without crosby.

Anyway, they should all be real good hockey games but I think the wings will win the series in the faceoff circle. Neither team makes a lot of mistakes when they have the puck so the whole key will be getting the puck and that's where i think the wings will almost dominate. But i've been known to be wrong before.

I'm posting this for my roomate as he is a peguins fan

Game 1 5-3 for the Pens

Game 2 2-1 for the pens O/T

Game 3 4-3 for the Wings

Game 4 ??? this is an insane pick but oh well 7-1 for the pens

Game 5 bye bye detroit any score

I'll agree with him on 2 points I believe the pens will win it and Datsyk will win the MVP. Hextall won it in 87 when the oilers beat them so I has also happened 2-3 times I think he will get it but if Crosby goes on a tear he will get it.

Now I'm thinking to myself 7-1 that would only be if the Pens were scared after losing game 3 that they'd let the dead things back in the series but man detroit is not LA and these are the finals thats his picks.

I'm not predicting scores just taking the pens in 5 games and however the point thing works out I'll put 144 points.

Pens 4 games to 1 if the wings win you'll like this part of the bet I get blocked from POF til next hockey season starts.

Now here's one for the others to have a guess at, total goals scored in the finals both teams combined I'll go with 30 my roomie goes with 54 and not gonna have 54 goals with his predictions. Unless 18 goals are scored in game 5 that wont work anyone thinking the wings will win this are braindead or have never played hockey. Youth and skill have prevailed 17 of the last 20 seasons what helps an experienced team is a good/great goalie,
I would have loved to play in the NHL looking back just for an exhibition game or 1 regular season game but it wasn't meant to be, so I enjoy watching it. The reason I took 144 points is thats what my winger got for points that year and he was a skinny 5'11 185 pound guy he made the nhl. He had talent like Crosby.

He only played about 6-7 years if I recall when this cup chance comes around you have to take full advantage of it at any level you never know if you get another crack at it.

Time to shut up my, memorial cup hate has come back from the dead. my roommate asked me now which I would have rather won the memorial cup or stanley cup.

Easy answer memorial cup I knew I'd never make the nhl getting way off topic in my messages. Another week vacation from this place
Yes some of my messages are as long as other peoples and some of the stuff is meaningless as the guys who post a 5-6 page message I try keep mine to 1 page or post another.

Neither of us are looking for a woman we have ours. I met 3 sweet woman here one passed away I met another one . Could be worse could have been me and you know who.

RJ

Sorry for ranging off topic so much

I think thats why they gave me the nickname ranger

If you pick that day's predictions for each game, do you have to put the wager beside it each time?

Yes, because you can wager different amounts each game!

Game 1
Detroit 3 Pitt 1 (5pts)

kaos, remember, we are wagering even numbers only because if you get the score right also, you get half the points you wager and I prefer not to deal in decimals. So unless you post again, I'll round down to 4 points.

If Bettman has his way, his long lost stepdaughter, Cindy Crosby, will hoist the Cup up over her head some two weeks from now and the Connie Smyth in 6 games. Never in my nearly 50 years of watching, coaching and playing hockey, have i seen a hockey player whine as much to referrees as that little girl does. He makes a sham of the NHL. Oh sorry. No he doesn't do it all on his own. The refs are doing that quite well on their own in that department.

Er sly, I have to object, girls in hockey don't whine as much as Crosby does...

Ranger, not sure how to proceed here as you're new to our pool and have no points to wager. I guess we can give you the same point system as we had prior (for fun). One point for correct team to win and an extra 5 for correct score also. If not correct, you will lose the points. Can't go into the negative though.
