| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 1:55:34 PM | yeah insult a guy that won gold in 2002, and also is a family man with young kids. such a bad person wanting to stay with your family and spend time with your kids.
iggy is to good for that queer little iihf bull. i dont want any flames playing for a dinky little medal the boys should take time off get into game shape for next season.
im not stupid why would i bet the farm when i have the lead? ethier wings win and pp and korrive drop 100 or they win 100 and go ahead by 15. i was going to go with 50 on the pens for fun but pp stopped that.
i used to be a pens fan before crosby.

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 1:58:06 PM | riot, I was over at beeny's today clearing a bit of brush for him to put up some fencing this weekend for him. He got in at 4 last nite or something after being on the road for a few weeks and didn't understand the new format. He wants to bet 40 points on tonights match. I told him to go change his picks but he's got a lot of sh1t on his mind right now so he probly forgot. So there's his wager for him.
I'll get him to verify it tonight for ya as i'm going back there tonight to watch the game on his big screen after he cooks me up some good grub. Cheers.

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 5:52:43 PM | I know a lot of people here think this new format is geared to favor those who were near the bottom but I don't see that as being the case. If anything, it is geared to favor those with the most points because they have more to wager. Thing is, many here probably didn't want to wager all that much, hence the anger and frustration because smack went all in twice and capitalized on it. While this wagering system may not be ideal, it does make us think, which creates a sense of excitement in and of itself. Like smack said, prairiep's strategy was pretty brilliant because it forced smack to react in way that he may not have reacted if left to his own devices. It's like a game of chess, anticipating other people's moves.
Will we do it again next year? Probably not. Remember, the whole point of this pool was supposed to be for fun and I think somewhere along the way, we lost sight of that. So for the little amount of time we have left in this season, just go along for the ride.

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 6:19:22 PM | "yeah insult a guy that won gold in 2002,"
Really? I thought he was PART OF A TEAM that won gold.
"i used to be a pens fan before crosby. "
Clearly ... because that previous comment sounds exactly like something Mario Lemieux would say: Lemieux, circa 1991, on the night of the Stanley Cup win. "I'm so glad I could bring a Stanley Cup to Pittsburgh" (yeah Mario ... because the other 19 guys on the ice had nothing to do with it)
Wayne Gretzky, May 1999, when asked what the highlight of his career was: "I was so lucky to be PART OF 4 TEAMS to win Stanley Cups in Edmonton" Wayne Gretzky=class; Lemieux=ummm ... not so much
"such a bad person wanting to stay with your family and spend time with your kids."
Hmmmm ... three weeks off in the middle of the hockey season to devote to your wife and kids would be a real nice thing too. Don't toss the family into the equation unless there's a consistent pattern there.
You support his decision not to represent Canada because the tournament, in your eyes and his, isn't "important enough" to warrant his presence? Yep, totally class attitude there.

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 6:46:16 PM | Most of the players took their families to Halifax with them. With the 10 Olympics approaching it's time for Hockey Canada to say no to these pansies who repeatedly say no to wearing the flag at the worlds.
It's time for a petition .... No Jerry in Vancouver!

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 7:48:52 PM | Wayne Gretzky=needed a star team to win the cup couldnt get the job done with out messier the real star of the those teams.
mario=was the reason his team won the cup.
dude im a fan, i dont speak for iggy, its just stipid when stupid people insult a amazing player for not wanting to play when your heart is not in it. i do know that iggy wants the cup, after being beaten in the playoffs enless you dont care how could you get up and play in the iihf? im sure coaching staff plays a big role in that to, only 1 flames went. iggy ddnt even go when the flames were not making the playoffs so why should he go after a war aginst the sharks? to get hurt and miss part of next season?
its a low budget tournament, i would rather send our chl players and ban nhl players from the world events. wow 6 teams have a shot at winning thats such a great challange.
tons of players that missed playoffs turned down invites also, or players from teams that were out in the first. its a common thing, the worlds are 2nd rate at best.
so who do you want in goal then kaos if we are not letting players that turn down the worlds all the time? maf? ward? that sounds soild or take the pansy luongo? or do you want that pre selected crap they sent in 06?
Sidney Crosby: At 20 years old, already better than Jarome Iginla.......what aspect are we talking here? not being man enough to set up and drop the gloves? or is it crosbys amazing stick swinging abilty? the guy swings better then any lumber jack i have seen. ohh im made im going to 2 hand your knee, give me a break. he is better at showboating also.
no other player in the nhl can do it all like iggy. he isnt the best pure goal scorer, inst the hardist hitter, but no one brings the package he does every single season.

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 7:57:14 PM | Crosby just picked his team up and carried them on his back to a win over a dynasty team tonight. Thats how good he is!
You are insanel if you think Gretzky wasn't the most important player in Edmonton. As great as Messier was, it was the Gretzky show!
Ban Jerry in 2010! | |

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 8:01:37 PM | funny how messier won cups without gretz but the same cant be said the other way.
one has to wounder if the wings are going to choke as bad as kaos did in our pool.
and get the hell out of here, stick a fork in kaos he is out!!!!!!!!!! na na na na hey hey goodbye.

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 8:11:40 PM | Oh wow. Poor chiefy. What unbelievable bad luck! Loses all his points in the 1st 2 games, then gets Game 3 dead on with correct score only to have no points to wager.
prairiep, on the other hand, capitalizes huge even though I suspect his bet and wager was a bit facetious. 100 points plus another 50 for calling the score.
No one got the bonus as neither team had a shutout.

Interesting enough, if you didn't wager, prairiep's bet and wager would've been dull and void because it depended solely on your wager.

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 8:26:58 PM |
Riot how do you go to negative points?
That was just something fun we did for Ranger because he joined us at the beginning of the Det/Pitt series so he didn't get a chance to accumulate points to wager.

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 8:30:52 PM | i think i may have went Steve Smith on that one, why does a guy always think of these things later.
nice move, pp really nice move. korrisive had a big hand in forcing a non play.

i was going to go with 50 on the pens for fun but pp stopped that.
Which proves this is as much a mental game as the actual playoffs! If smack went with his initial bet (50 on the Pens), he would've maintained his lead by 135 points ahead of korrosive and dropped prairiep to 11th place with 145 points!

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 8:52:32 PM | | Thank god there is no game tomorrow. I'm working a double from 9am to 9pm and would have been forced to place a bet at 8am and watch as everyone bets accordingly. | |

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 9:39:48 PM | | beeny, did you want to place a wager on your Game 4 bet? sly, if you're still over at beeny's can you ask him? | |

| Stanley Cup Finals Game #3 Posted: 5/28/2008 9:46:49 PM | Yep he does riot. I just back home a wee while ago and he wanted to do 40 tonight and 40 on the next one, but since he lost 40 tonight we'll wait for him to post himself to see if he wants to change his strategy. He's around for the next few days so I'm pretty sure you'll be hearing from him tomorrow or the day after. Thanks. Cheers.

Wait til you see my next one
As for the silly comment: "Wayne Gretzky=needed a star team to win the cup couldnt get the job done with out messier the real star of the those teams.
mario=was the reason his team won the cup"
Gretzky didn't need a "star" team to win the cup, he needed a team. plain and simple. According to your logic, it's clear Mario only wanted to win 2 cups in his life ... otherwise he'd have had 12.
Mario was ONE OF the reasons his team won the cup ... but I'm pretty sure they could not have done it without a goaltender, defence and wingers for super mario. Not positive, as I don't know anything about the game ... but pretty sure.
