| Game 6 Posted: 6/3/2008 10:26:10 AM | | Game 6 hmmm all I have to say it's only a miracle the Pengs have gotten this far (but it makes it a little more intense) it should have been a full sweep but I will settle for 4-2 Im good with that as I have a huge bet riding on this and my beloved wings will fly high Game 6 how do you like them predictions? mwuah xx | |
|
| Game 6 Posted: 6/3/2008 12:03:42 PM | hmmm. Neat. Still chuggin' along here. I got the picks wrong for games 3, 4 and 5 but moved up a couple of spots in the standings. That's different. I'm rewarded for being wrong all the time. I like it. I must be doing something right with my pics. But I'm not sure what it is.
Game 6 back at mellonheads. Be there or be square.: Wings are officially in trouble now with only 24 hours to recuperate from playing two games in one night...Those old creaky bones must be sore by this time today. I know how sore I am from just watching it. lol
Pens 5-3 and a bigtime bet of 50 big points.
Anybody need some chips to stay in?
ps. 10 points says Babcock pencils the Chellyman into the lineup. It's startin' to get a lil rough out there.

| Game 6 Posted: 6/3/2008 2:12:32 PM | More good smackemhard chirps -
Hey smack ... how about this quote of mine you pulled out of the weeds after Game 2 and mocked it ....
My original posting, commenting on smack saying the Red Wings would win in "a cakewalk" over the Pens, prior to the beginning of the series: "Anyone who thinks beating Pitt is a cakewalk hasn't watched ANY hockey whatsoever in the past year. Their defence has improved dramatically this season and their goaltending looks to have come of age. The one thing they were missing was goaltending and MAF has really proved me wrong. Apparently his extended time off did him a world of good. " pp
Smack's reply, after Game 2...
"can i say it again cake walk. the east is weak and a very boring style of hockey, the play efence they forgot the D. id say anyone that thought the pens hard a shot aginst the west didnt wacth much hockey from the east this year, weak cupcake hockey my fav comment so true"
Cakewalk? Hmmmm. Don't think so!
Oh... or how about my response to that comment...again, after Game 2
"I still say the series is going 6 games"
I might have even sold the Penguins short
At least, unlike Smack ... and apparently the Red Wings ... I gave them the respect they are due.

| Game 6 Posted: 6/3/2008 2:15:56 PM | i say its all over when detroit wins the trofee back home.

|
| Game 6 Posted: 6/3/2008 11:13:18 PM | if the wings had a decent goalie the series would be over, hell i could have stopped that game tieing goal in game 5. the pens are doing way better then i thought they would, playing there very best hockey of all year against the wings. the pens have taken there game to the next leval maybe even good enough that they could have beaten say a preds team, or the hurt aves in a 7 game series.
not the pens i sold short they are weak i should say maf is really good, without maf theis would have been over in 4. east is div 2 of the nhl.
|
| Game 6 Posted: 6/4/2008 4:20:15 AM | "without maf theis would have been over in 4. east is div 2 of the nhl. "
Without Osgood the Wings lose to the Predators
|

| Game 6 Posted: 6/4/2008 2:40:10 PM | riot, i noticed the last game the prediction cut off time was 6pm, which is why im posting this now.
Pittsburgh 3 Detroit 1
350 points. | |
|
| Game 6 Posted: 6/4/2008 2:44:15 PM | Hey Smack...I agree that the West overall has more quality teams than the East, but other than maybe style of play (wich could be a result of the excess travel in the West) they are of eaqual talent. Goaltending has not been an issue with Detroit...Osgood had 2 shutouts and has made most of the saves he had too, they are up 3-2 ya know!
Pittsburg has some great talent. Only Malkin who was in the top 5 in scoring has been a flop. He did suprisingly well in the first 3 rounds. His collapse could have been predicted with the 'ole experience factor. There is no level of play equall to the NHL playoffs, Russians like Datsuyk, Federov, Malkin, have all struggled in the 1st NHL playoffs. The rest of Pittsburgs roster is solid.
I think the best team in hockey will win the cup this year. With the ebb and flow of playoff hockey its not often that the best team...takes the cup!
|
| Game 6 Posted: 6/4/2008 3:48:06 PM | | I think the Russian mafia got to Malkin | |
|
| Game 6 Posted: 6/4/2008 8:01:00 PM | Cheers passion. You led for the majority of this playoff run and deserve to finish on top!!!!
AND THANKS TONS FOR ALL THE HARD WORK RIOT!!!!. it kept the playoffs interesting throughout, for a guy whose favourite team didn't even qualify.
As for the betting thing, hey... leason learned. Cheers to you ... and don't let my whining dissuade you from doing it again next year.
|
| Game 6 Posted: 6/4/2008 8:11:09 PM | However I did pick the score tonight and the series in 6.
Doesn't matter Hockey Town Rules!
|
| Wings Win It Posted: 6/4/2008 8:11:24 PM | Hell Yeah!!!
Too bad I lost all my points... However, I did call it in 6 and I did call Zetterberg for the Con Smythe. What do I get for that??? In any case I am a happy girl, and this little pool was a lot of fun. Looking forward to hashing out a lot of details and getting in at the start next season. Thanks Riot!

| Wings Win It Posted: 6/4/2008 8:47:08 PM | I guess it's time. passion/song, i present to you the green jacket for the 1st place finish in the 2008 POF Hockey Pool. I hope you carry your title with the same dignity and class that I did (so in other words, leaving the site for a few months and coming back after breaking up with your ex stripper gf)
Kind of sad that I didn't win for the 2nd year in a row, but oh well.
Going to jump off a bridge now.
/end joke. | |
