OK, is it possible, that despite the good intentions of those turning this into a "Anyone who looks at a girl under 20 is a sick pedophile and should be killed" thread that we are missing the point?
The OP called it the "Young Girl Image", he didn't say "Bang some pre-teens" He didn't say "Get Anal on your daughter's babysitter"
He is talking about the "image".
Now look at most women walking around your local mall. From age 12-45 they are be-bopping around in bare midriff shirts, pants that start about 3 mm above their vagina, piercings in their lips and nose.
The "Young Girl Image" is the "Everywoman Image"
Now, if you want to address why that is, I can sum it for you very simply. It's Marketing. We are SOLD younger women as a commodity. There is a biological response based in the perpetuation of the species (Younger women to perpetuate the breeding) but this has been marketed and further perpetuated into a marketing concept.
We are (as a society) getting older, we (as a society) don't want to get older, because getting older means dying. No one wants to die.
We chase the elusive youth of yesteryear by getting hair plugs (well, not me, obviously see picture) liposuction and yes dressing younger (ladies)
We are told that being young, feeling young, and yes ladies and gentlemen DATING/FORNICATING young is what we should be doing. Combine this with the natural innate predilection of the male choosing good breeding stock, and voila we have an aging, youth obsessed/sexually based culture.
Combine the market based forced sexualization of "teens" combined with the increased moral enforcement of protecting those newly sexualized teens creates a paradox that isn't reconcilable.
We hold out a nubile young fleshling as the sexual ideal and then say you are sick if you think the way we've told you to think.
Sexual crimes against children are rarely sexual in primacy and more about control and weakness. Pedophiles don't go after 13 year olds because they are sexy, they go after them because they crave the control and self determinate satisfaction. Long term "pedophilic relationships" end as the child gets older and more independent.
Those who cry "pedophile" at every turn actually hurt their cause because eventually (like the boy who cried wolf) people stop taking you seriously. | |

They spend millions, MILLIONS, on demographic studies to see what people will respond to. They aren't telling us what to do, they are simply mirroring for our culture what already exists in the collective unconscious.

This much I agree with. Pedophilia is about power. And I would further suggest that a male, especially a much older male, who has a deep-seated need for much younger, and especially much younger-appearing women, is in it for power as well. I mean, come on, does a 40 or 50 year old man have deep intellectual conversations with an 18 year old porn starlet? No, he just boinks her, parades her out in public so everyone can see how "potent" he still is, and then trades her in as soon as he gets bored. I think most of us in our 30s and 40s can agree that sex gets much better once you've had a few years of practice. So is this really about sex, or is it about appearances?
My observation about older men who chase young girls is that they are generally pretty insecure and very ego-driven. And yes, they crave power, ar at least the appearance of being powerful. So amassing a horde of young babes is one way to 'prove' how powerful a male you are. It's about as evolved as troops of baboons, who, incidentally, are one of the only other species of primates who practice predatory 'pedophilia' on a routine basis.
I don't particularly care if you take me seriously or not - just google "child sex abuse" and you get 569,000 hits. You may not like to hear it, but this is a problem we have in our species, and males are generally the worst perpetrators. Until the males of our species decide to grow up, get their heads out of the sand, and start to develop some awareness of the issue instead of knee-jerk denial, it will continue to be an issue. | |

This stereotype has been propogated for the entirety of human existence. Which Greek gods were the most beautiful...lets see Aphrodite (virginal, naked and young), Artemis (virginal, huntress and young) and not Athena (mature, wise, but still virginal)...hmmmmmm. Today it has been taken to an extreme (out of necessity for marketing and media) they must look young and be thin. So young that they look 12 and so thin that they look dead. Here's the problem. Anorexics and bulemics don't look young. And apparently bigger (read: normal) girls look old.
So enter the wold of lighting, make up and camera angles. We'll make her eyes look bigger and more innocent, and we will shoot her from a downward angle to make her look younger and submissive. Watch one of the teen porn movies, there is a lot of POV (point of view) which is always downward. Look at advertising. Look at the cover of Brittany Spears' first album cover, she's on her knees in a schoolgirl outfit and the camera is slightly above her.

I am not saying that we are being brainwashed here. Because we are not, we allow this to happen because no one sees anything wrong with it. Staying young is THE most important thing, and having an eating disorder makes you better then everyone else (but living a full life with one makes for page 5 and if you actually beat it well here's your book deal, and by the way we'll just spin that you had one and fought it, not that you beat it).
And women can jump all over men about teen porn or looking at thin girls or this and that. But who buys the cosmo's, who buys the make up, who necessitated the need for 00 sizes and if you think I am going to put this all on women, you are wrong. This is everybody's problem, and unless you want to carry your 5'10, 85 lbs daughter, wife, friend, mother or whoever to the hospital because she is having a seizure or has stopped breathing then you need to be aware of our actions. I am not saying you need to stop doing what it is your doing, but AT LEAST BE AWARE!!!!! It's a start. | |

Another example, which Gambit didn't mention, is cartoons - the majority of cartoon characters, from Betty Boop to the Archies through to modern times, have a head-to-torso ratio of an infant or very young child. Big heads, big round eyes... what the hell is that all about? I know our collective unconscious expresses itself in mysterious ways, but this fascination with cartoon sex objects proportioned like infants? That's just plain sick. And what about the current fashion trends for young men? You know, those baggy pants hanging off the butt, underwear exposed, big huge baggy t-shirts... makes 'em look like toddlers, I swear to god. Just what exactly is being expressed here for us to collectively notice? And those raver styles, where the teenagers wear little stuffed animal knapsacks, suck on lollipops, and wear pigtails?
You'd think awareness wouldn't be such a painful process, but apparently it's just too painful for the majority of people to recognize that the innocence of youth is a total myth - most youth I know are far from innocent, and not by their own choice either. What worries me is the possibility that humanity is somehow hardwired to respond sexually to images that remind them of children. Ick. | |

Because most men are, unfortunately, absuredly insecure in terms of what they have to offer a prospective mate.
A young woman/girl is much easier to manipulate on average than a mature one. So naturally a lot of men think they can get the respect and/or admiration of a young girl easier, and they are probably right. Young women are more fantasy than reality driven than their more mature counterparts. What may be a flaw in the eyes of a fully developed woman can sometimes easily be part of the charm for a younger one.
A 15 yr old girl may be impressed that you make $200 a week and drive a car whereas the older woman can't get past the fact you still live with mommy and daddy at the age of 30. | |

People learn alot from kids even from being silly and enjoy all the little pleasures in life instead of searching for them in other countries.
