| Smokers: Would you quit smoking for your dreamboat? Posted: 10/13/2008 12:13:35 AM | Hmmm I probably would....if I smoked. It's not a necessity and a bad habit so giving it up is doing me m0re good (even if we break up) than bad.
I would assume they wanted me to stop because they cared about me or were allergic. As I said it is not a necessity or necessarily a great thing, so I would be willing to stop.

But to be perfectly serious I don't think I'll do any life style changes for anybody again. However there was this absolutely stunning women in the Airport. When she smiled at me my heart actually stopped for a minute. A whole minute! She stood up and stretched and the entire concourse stopped breathing so maybe it wasn't just me.

I have since quit on my own - smoked for 30 years and had got up to two packs a day. It was my own personal decision for my own life. If I was to date a smoker I am sure I would not put pressure on them to quit smoking. Maybe ask them to smoke outside (I did that for the last four years I smoked) but it would be their decision to quit. Smoking is a very difficult addiction to over come.

Posted: 10/16/2008 11:15:37 PM | | no i would not quit either for the simple reason i will only date smokers,my choice but i do find them more sexy and chatty, maybe now that we are forced out behind the pub for a ciggie, but i do detest people who smoke in front of their kids, my last woman smoked incessantly, even in the car with her daughter, and it was a deal breaker for me, but my current woman is far more responsible about it, she goes outside for one like i do,and i love kissing her when she comes back in, i do think that you can smoke but be responsible about it too, oh time for a fag before the kids get up!

| Smokers: Would you quit smoking for your dreamboat? Posted: 10/17/2008 7:55:38 AM | | I smoke. When I first came onto PoF I simply skipped the non-smokers, but was then contacted by a few women who didn't smoke but didn't mind that I did. All good. Some put on the anti-smoking act, but I suspect if it wasn't that then they'd find something else to want to change to make me their perfect puppet. I also found that some women put never smoke on their profile but in fact they do... they just think it puts guys off. I know everyone says kissing a smoker is like licking an ashtray, but given the scent of garlic or other herbs, cheese or just stale breath I'd rather be kissing a smoker thanks! | |

Some put on the anti-smoking act, but I suspect if it wasn't that then they'd find something else to want to change to make me their perfect puppet. Yea Rob, this is why I said what I did previously. If I were to give up smoking for this "dreamboat", it's like givin' them the green light to change whatever else they want of me at will. They know you just gave up smoking, so what else could they get you to give up (or take up)? The same could be said about a man trying to get his lover to quit...though men aren't quite as apt to wanna do a complete makeover after-the-fact as women are.
If someone's interested in me, but sees me as "ruined" because I smoke, and would want me to change to be with her...she can keep looking. I'll only change for me, when or if that time ever does come.
I know everyone says kissing a smoker is like licking an ashtray, but given the scent of garlic or other herbs, cheese or just stale breath I'd rather be kissing a smoker thanks! Yea Rob, but none of those others you listed are "social sins". None of them have quite the "taint" that accompanies smoking/smokers, and the stigma that also follows them. I'd sooner "lick an ashtray" than subject myself to vomit-inducing breath brought on by garlic/curry/cheese/stale dragon breath/etc. I've never felt nauseous kissing a smoker, though I have felt that way catching a whiff of onions and jalapenos or similar stained breath as I leaned in for a kiss.
Nothin' a mint or piece of gum can't handle...for smokers or other vomit-inducing breath.

| Smokers: Would you quit smoking for your dreamboat? Posted: 11/7/2008 7:20:10 PM | Update: I quit 3 weeks ago! I did it just for me. Nobody else. However, as I sit here trying to find new habits to replace it with I am really wanting to run to the store and buy a pack. It's been really hard but the longer I go the more I realize how much I didn't like about it. Wish me luck. I've save about $75 so far and I don't stink or cough anymore. | |

| Smokers: Would you quit smoking for your dreamboat? Posted: 11/7/2008 7:30:11 PM | | People will stop smoking when they want to stop.. You can't force someone to stop just incase you don't like it... and you find in the long run that because they were forced to quit they'll end up having a sly smoke... If someone really wants to stop they'll stop... | |

| Smokers: Would you quit smoking for your dreamboat? Posted: 11/7/2008 9:07:57 PM | Not a chance in hell......lol I would never expect anyone to give up something for me unless they really wanted to without my asking and vise versa..... Smoking is a habit, and one you need to want to quit doing in order to quit. If someone asked me to quit for them cuz they didn't like it I'd tell em to take a hike! I don't like controlling people, I am not conrolling and don't want to b with someone who is. BUT if they wanted me to quit because my health was affected that is different and their support I would need.............other then that NOPE!! Take me as I am or don't - simple!! | |

in a sense i find it easier to do things like that for other people...

| Smokers: Would you quit smoking for your dreamboat? Posted: 11/11/2008 7:45:39 PM | Hmmmm....haven't read through all these comments, but: I wonder what my dreamboat wouldn't do for me? Would he not take one drink of alcohol ever ever again? Not tote on that ganja anymore even if just once in a while? Would he not drink so much java every damn day? Would he not work so much because he loves his job? Habitual dependants........addictions... tsk, tsk. Aren't we all guilty of having a crutch or a closet somewhere in our lives | |

| Smokers: Would you quit smoking for your dreamboat? Posted: 11/26/2008 2:30:18 PM | A smoker can only quit for Him /her self any one telling other wise is just BS However a smoker choice can be modified by influences But if you demand the person quitting in a relationship will only cause problems later
Non smoker here who will never date another smoker

| Smokers: Would you quit smoking for your dreamboat? Posted: 11/26/2008 2:33:54 PM | I don't smoke, and haven't done for about 3 years now.
But if the man i desire smoked it wouldn't bother me at all.
I wouldn't expect him to give up for me either. He'd have more success if he wanted to give up for himself.
Either way we'd both be happy.

| Smokers: Would you quit smoking for your dreamboat? Posted: 11/29/2008 10:39:07 PM | | I'd be quitting for myself (which I know I need to do anyway). It would just be an additional incentive (and not smoking while they are around or at their place would help me to cut down as I went along the path). | |
