| How old is too old Posted: 2/13/2005 11:32:35 PM | | I think it comes down to what the person taste is. I am 42 but I neither look or feel my age but I would not want to date or be in a long term relationship with a women 40 or older just because most of the ones, I have met do not want to start and raise a family. I then have to change the age group I would date and hope to raise a family from which would be as young as 28 thru 36. | |

| How old is too old Posted: 2/14/2005 12:13:52 AM | I've dated women half my age and women ten years older and more. Frankly, I've enjoyed the company of both. It all depends, I think, on how you look at things and your sense of humor. Even though a lot of young women turn me down for being too old, just as many older women do the same thing for me being too young. However, it's a numbers game.
It all depends upon how active you are. If you are fifty-four or sixty and ask enough thirty or thirty-five year olds to go out with you, sooner or later, one or a few will. The same goes the other way. If you are fifty-four or sixty and ask enough sixty-five year-olds to go out with you, sooner or later one or a few will.
Frankly, I never get too serious about dating. It's fun to go out with someone now and then even if it doesn't turn out to be a long and intense relationship.
You can't allow rejection to be a problem. You can't be liked by everyone. And you shouldn't expect to be. If you see someone half your age that you like, ask her to go out with you. The same goes the other way. What's the worse thing that can happen? The person says," No?” Boo! Hoo! So what.
What is too old? What is too young? It all depends upon how you personally feel about it. It's all relative.
All the best, | |

| How old is too old Posted: 2/14/2005 12:16:41 AM | I'm 42 soooo...... I think the likelyhood of finding a match is about 37 - 49.
In reality one never knows does one?

| How old is too old Posted: 2/14/2005 12:48:37 AM | | In my opinion, age has only a small correlation with maturity and experience. Plus, two people with very different background, experiences, and ages can fall in love. What really matters is if there is strong mental bond. However I have to admit that I prefer men who are closer to my own age. After all I was alive when Kennedy was killed and witnessed mans first step on the moon. I might feel akward dating a man that had to learn about this in school during history. | |

| How old is too old Posted: 2/14/2005 1:12:10 AM | when i was 24- 25 i became pretty close w/ one of my lil brothers friends (a girl) who was 18 for a few months we just hung out and had a good time . I'll tell you at 18 this girl was more mature than most girls my age now. She new who and what she wanted to be and was very intelligent ,both booksmart and common sense. After a while i couldn't take the pressure from frinds and family and i started to think that it wasn't fair to her so i ended it.2 years later i got married and i hear she just married someone about 2 years younger than me.WELL now im getting divorced and i can honestly saywith all my heart that breaking up with that girl because of her age was one of the biggest mistakes of the heart i have ever made. AS LONG AS ITS LEGAL AND YOU FEEL RIGHT ABOUT IT F**K WHAT EVERYONE ELSE THINKS!! | |

| How old is too old Posted: 2/14/2005 2:32:06 AM | Hmm... Well, I have had quite the chuckle tonight reading this... ANd I will not say that I remember all that was said... but I will try to hit some of the high points...
What would my parents say... WEll, lets see... When I got out of the service, my Dad tried to hook me up with a 16 year old. With her mom's ready assistance. In their defense, the guys she WAS hanging around was a poster child for LOSER. My dad's opinion (HIS not mine) was marry em young and raise em the way you want em (he was joking, I Promise you would have to know him). In any case, her current boyfriend was a druggie, 3 time juvie loser and general scum. I will say that while I never "dated" her in any fashion, I was able to help her mom get her away from the druggie... I still get cards from her and she thanks me for my help. SHe is currently married with three kids... and doing well....
About a year later I dated a much senior lady. I didn't realize at the time just how senior, that broke up for... odd reasons... (any one that has seen the Bowflex commercial with the 50 year old Grandma can understand).
My ex wife was 3 years older than I.
My daughter (who for the record is older than froggy), the blonde on my profile, says go for it. On the other hand, she and I have discussed a few of the others on here, she vetoed only one out of hand. Probably right in the long run.
In any case, as I have said, it isn't about age... Froggy is a very nice lady, we have chatted, she is nice and personable and we are going to meet. We have fun chatting, I like her personality and her sense of humor and it seems we have a great deal in common. So we are going to meet, no real plans other than to say hi and see what happens. It may end up that we just end up being close friends, maybe otherwise... we will see... We like each other... how much remains to be seen... If you let age be a barrier, you are shutting yourself out of so many possibilities... Everyone lives the same amount of time, you don't remember anything before you were born, and have no idea what lies beyond. And it was not too long ago that 10-20 years between partners was common rather than odd... And just beyond that a lady was a spinster if she wasn't married by 18.....
Above and beyond all... it is the minds, the hearts and the souls... this is where it matters....
In any case... open your minds... your hearts may follow...

| How old is too old Posted: 2/14/2005 2:42:42 PM | Well, if the age of the person you want to date is proportional to the age of your parents...that's probably too old.
But that's just me. What the hell do I know.
I usually put a 10-year cap on the issue. As I am 29, I have no problem with dating a woman who is 39. Sometimes I'll bonus a year or two if I really like her. So, the maximum age of a woman I'd date would be around 41.

| How old is too old Posted: 2/14/2005 4:42:42 PM | I truly enjoyed all the comments. surprisingly the comments were not at all what I expected. I felt that most peoples would have said that big difference in age did matter. I mean after all we are in a society that if one is in a relationship with someone older, than there must be money involved and if a men is with someone much younger, than he's having a midlife crisis or is a pervert.
My hat goes off to Shannon and dragon, 23 years difference there. good luck to you both.
To me age does not matter. I think that if 2 peoples connect on a personal level, age does not play a role in it. Age is just a number anyway. For the record, my ex was 11 years younger than me and my last relationship that lasted over 2 years, she was 16 years younger. I've always been attracted to younger women. I think is because i have more in common with younger women than women my age. I tried that once and i couldn't stand it. I felt trapped like if I was in a nursing home.

| How old is too old Posted: 2/14/2005 4:58:11 PM | i've actually dated from all sides of the spectrum. i have gone as young as 16 years younger and as old as 10 years older. no offense to younger girls but in all i prefer older girls, my agegroup or older that is. just something about a mature woman..... but to answer your question goose, i think the age thing sould be left up to the comfort level of the participants. | |

| I'm not looking for a birthdate. Posted: 2/14/2005 5:05:48 PM | I am 87 and I still can chase a youngin in her 50's around the bedromm with a whip..that's why they call me a whipper snapper... and my women don't forget the experience... yeehaaaa, | |

| I'm not looking for a birthdate. Posted: 2/14/2005 5:29:07 PM | LMAO! @ super.. My personal preference is to date within 5-6 years of my own age, older or younger. Seems to be more on the same page, same experiences, etc..(plus, women in that age range are in their "peak"--WOOT WOOT!)
Life is good.. | |

| I'm not looking for a birthdate. Posted: 2/19/2005 11:49:48 AM | | The basic rule for men is: Half your age, and add seven years. That would be the recommended minimum age. This is used by Jewish, and Muslim matchmakers and seems logical to me. | |
|
| I'm not looking for a birthdate. Posted: 2/19/2005 11:59:20 AM | | The age of someone should really matter as long as the two people are happy. I know a female that is 40 and her fiance is only 28. They are a match made in heaven! They connect great and are very happy! As long as there is a maturity issue in place, it really shouldnt matter...Rob | |

| I'm not looking for a birthdate. Posted: 2/19/2005 12:03:50 PM | | I wouldn't date a girl younger than 18, and I wouldn't go over 28. I would make exceptions for maturity levels. | |
|
| I'm not looking for a birthdate. Posted: 2/19/2005 12:16:58 PM | | It would depend on the person and how mature they act. If I was 18 and they were 23 then I might go out with them but if they are in their 30's and I'm 18 thats abit old don't ya think? | |
