This doesn't mean it's a good system, or that others should be less "tolerant" simply because a person has American background - EVERYONE should be judged on their personality and actions....
I know that sounds all good...and in a perfect world....but we don't live there so brush it off and move on.

| My little secret... Posted: 4/28/2006 6:20:54 PM | As it turns out, I was talking to my mom...the dual citizen...this morning about this thread and while she knows lots of really nice people in the States (she lives there 5 months of the year) she is often disappointed with how little those friends know about Canada. Last year she took a satellite dish down so she wouldn't be totally clueless about any newsworthy stories that occurred here during her absence.
I think Rick Mercer does an excellent job of showing just how clueless a lot of Americans are about their next-door neighbour in his "Talking To Americans" special. Like the Harvard geography instructor who thought we should, indeed, put an end to the seal hunt in Saskatchewan! Hopefully things are improving tho, as a woman interviewed in the same show was corrected by her six year-old when he told her that Canada has provinces, not states (wonder if he could name any of them? lol)

the only Yanks i have a problem with are the stuck-up, holier than thou warmongers who think that because they have big weapons, they're allowed to act like schoolyard bullies.

Being Canadian, I’m really jealous on how patriotic the people in the US can be, I’ve never heard “you can’t do that…I’m a CANADIAN!!” but then again, who wants an bald eagle when you can come home to the furry beaver…
