| Not your typical girly-girl Posted: 3/14/2007 7:18:41 PM | Hey all, my name is Susan and I'm from NWGa. I'm just looking to meet new people and make some new friends, maybe more. I'm a single mom, with one teenage son. Don't get me wrong ladies, I enjoy going to the mall shopping and to the beauty salon...but I'm a tomboy at heart. I enjoy rodeo, fishing and camping, football, ice hockey, and yes, racing. Not just nascar, but others too. I like going to antique car shows, and motorcycles also. So, if you think you would like to say hello, please, do so! Hope everyone has a great day!!! | |

| Introduce Yourself Here. Posted: 3/14/2007 8:37:38 PM | | hi! the name is Carlina. Just moved here from colorado. Don't really know anyone here. Looking for some new friends. I live in Folkston, Ga. | |

| Introduce Yourself Here. Posted: 3/15/2007 2:26:08 AM | Susan, This Susan doesn't it think it's strange that you enjoy those things...you sound a lot like me. How old is your son? Mine is 17. He actually helped clean house last night without too much difficulty! The joys of raising a teenager!! lol!
Carlina, Good luck in your search of friends down there. While your town is small, you have some pretty decent sized ones nearby! There is something to be said for small town charm though! If you haven't gotten invloved in a local church, I'd suggest that as one of the best ways to meet people.
In the meantime, welcome to POF, ladies! Happy fishing!

| Introduce Yourself Here. Posted: 3/15/2007 4:34:20 AM | Randy here from South Eastern Georgia. I just moved here to the State a few weeks ago from the warm climate of Ohio....ya know, the State where thee are no biting gnats or those ever popular "Luv Bugs". I love it here and no plans on goin back North to yankee country. | |

| Hi!!! Posted: 3/15/2007 6:17:50 AM | Hello!!!!
I m from Germany, moved to Atlanta about 8 years ago, would love to find a nice honest Guy!!!! No Games....
|
| Introduce Yourself Here. Posted: 3/15/2007 3:09:14 PM | Hey Randy, What's behind those glasses???
I know what you mean about the biting gnats and love bugs. I had to get use to the gnats again when I returned from Texas, and every once in a while I see some love bugs. Nothing like when I lived in Jacksonville though! Guess where the good ole USA got those dratted things? From an experiment at one of the major colleges in Texas...can't remember which one anymore! They brought them in from another country.

| Introduce Yourself Here. Posted: 3/15/2007 3:35:53 PM | | Hi Susan, thanks for the reply. My son is will be 16 next month and is autistic. He is a great helper around the house, but I know what you mean about raising a teenager, lol. | |

| I know Steve Posted: 3/19/2007 10:03:41 AM | I just wanted to let you know Steve is a very wonderful person I know Steve from way back in the 90's and we were a couple at one time for 6 years and to this date we still talk and share our special moments. I still love him dearly but few things were in the way. I wish to this day I could still be with him and he does deserve to find someone that will treat him right and he is a good lover as well and the best of friends and cares for you and shows it in alot of ways. If that someone is out there please send them to Steve. If you want to chat just write me a note and I will answer. thanks Kathy | |

| I know Steve Posted: 3/19/2007 5:13:01 PM | I "snoped" it...we both stand corrected!
Truth is, Mother Nature is far more to be feared than any mad scientist and is far more capricious. In this case, she inspired some of her children to migrate to a new area, and in doing so prompted the creation of a number of rumors which attempt to explain why these critters came to take up residence in places where they weren't found before.
Love bugs are not the result of a genetic cloning experiment gone wrong, nor were they unwittingly loosed from a research facility charged with studying exotic insects. They also weren't bio-engineered as a natural solution to the mosquito problem. (Love bugs do not eat mosquitos: the adults do not eat at all, and larvae feed on decaying plant material.) These overly amorous critters are native to Central America; the best guess as to how they came to these United States places them as undiscovered stowaways who arrived by ship in Galveston or New Orleans around 1920. They migrated into Florida in 1947 from Louisiana, looked around, liked what they saw, and decided to stay. Their natural capacity for reproduction took care of the rest.

By the way, who is Steve?? I looked back a few pages and couldn't find the one that kat was talking about.

| Introduce Yourself Here Posted: 3/20/2007 5:14:23 PM | Okay then, well, since this thread was originally "Introduce Yourself Here" and hijacking is a no-no (not to mention that yours is STILL confusing since there are no words about Steve in this thread), I've changed it back to its name!
Now, anybody else care to introduce him/herself??
Welcome aboard, fishies!!
|
| Introduce Yourself Here Posted: 3/21/2007 2:30:25 AM | | I forgot to do this! Is there some kind of dire consequence for people who write in this forum without a proper introduction first? I sure hope not! I did meet alot of y'all at the POF Party in Metter, so maybe that counts for something????? LOL I had a great time too! Anyway, for those who were not there, I'm Jan, a teacher from Douglas (and originally from Metter by the way!!) (That's Douglas in south GA....not Douglasville near Atlanta!) I've been reading some of these forums for awhile now, and was reluctant to jump in because everybody seemed so chummy...... but now that I've actually met some of you, I'm taking the plunge! Writing is my forte'----so look out Georgia!! | |
|
| Introduce Yourself Here Posted: 3/22/2007 2:08:13 AM | Welcome, fellow teacher fishy! You must also teach Language Arts! I love to write, but don't like teaching it..do you have any great secrets to pass along? Are you counting the days yet?! Let's see, we have six school days until spring break, twelve until we start the lovely CRCT, and thirty-one left in the year. The only problem with that last number is that my son only has that many left in high school! I'm not ready for that!! | |
|
| Introduce Yourself Here Posted: 3/22/2007 3:23:53 AM | | Thank you browneyedgagirl! We also have 6 more days til Spring break, and I'm sooooooo ready for that!! Then we have a couple weeks before testing begins, which I dread. But unlike you, the end of the year can't get here fast enough for me! Maybe that's partly because my son graduated 2 years ago! I teach first grade, so YES that includes Language Arts. I find writing to be the most difficult thing I teach, yet it seems so easy to do myself. What do you teach?? Thanks again for the welcome! | |
|
| chemicals react Posted: 3/22/2007 10:31:33 AM | Welcome Zealand (Ron) the escapee (you can't fool me!) We have a tool for every nut here in the Georgia forums... You'll fit right in!
Meet the qupte:
He will become your very good friend.
|
| Introduce Yourself Here Posted: 3/22/2007 3:28:38 PM | janny, I, too, teach language arts, and I feel your pain! I have two books that I'm trying to get published, one that is a children's lit book, and one that is part one of a planned series of four, but it is soooo hard teaching something that comes so naturally! Go figure! I can teach the process itself, but to teach them how to think about what to write, well.... | |
