My name is Lyle. I am a computer geek, and practicing cyber-aholic. I guess I have been a computer junkie since I was a kid and played Pong for the first time (remember Pong???). I taught myself how to build, repair, and upgrade PC’s many years ago. I used to tinker around with computers as a hobby, now I am doing it as a career.

I was born a Hoosier (in Indiana), but moved around a lot most of my life. I still consider Dallas, Texas as, “home.” I graduated from High School in the Dallas area. I bummed around for a year, or so, after that then I decided that my life needed some sort of direction. I enlisted in to the U.S. Air Force. That was a cool gig! I was stationed in Germany for 2-years and then finished my 4-year enlistment in Arizona. The Air Force taught me a good career field, aircraft structures mechanic. Working on F-16 and F-15 fighter jets was cool, but the computer geek in me wasn’t satisfied with that career choice. When I separated from active duty, I got a job working for a civilian airline in Dallas, Texas. Hmmm! Working on 737’s, 727’s, DC-8’s and DC-9’s was cool, too, but still not exactly what I wanted, but it paid the bills. My plan, at the time, was to go back to school and get a degree in computer programming. It seems that life always just seemed to get in the way! I started school (part-time) in Dallas at a community college. Life took another strange turn and I left Dallas, and got a job working as an aircraft mechanic in Ohio. I was still an aircraft mechanic (what was I thinking?). After a few more years of fixing broken DC-9’s, and mad at myself for sticking to that career-field, I finally decided to get serious about an education and a career change. It’s not that being an aircraft mechanic is a bad career. It is respectable work that pays well, but if there is anything that I have learned from all of this is that you have to get in to a career-field that you, “love.” If you are going to spend 40+ hours per week doing a job that you do not enjoy, it will be a struggle to go to work and maintain any type of productivity and positive attitude.

I went to school full-time and worked full-time for a couple of years. It was, hard to do but I managed to get an associate’s degree in computer programming. Finally, the doors were opened for that long awaited career change that I was looking for. I quit my aircraft mechanic job, and found employment with a company that develops software and maintains computer hardware for several customers in Ohio. That was a good job. There was always something different going on and it gave me the opportunity to travel the state of Ohio. At the same time, I realized that eventually I would need to get a bachelor’s degree if I would ever see this new career really go somewhere.

I have since left that company and found a better job. I finished school and now have that bachelor's degree. I really like working in the Information Technology career-field. I like the challenges of learning new things. With computer technology constantly changing, I will not have any problems finding new things to learn about.

So I guess in a way, you can say that I am living the, "American Dream." It may have taken me a while to get there, but I am living proof that in the U.S.A., you can be, or do, anything that you set your mind to. I am NOT by any means rich or famous, in fact, I am very much an average poor-slob, red-blooded, true-blue, middle-class, patriotic-American. I have worked very hard for my successes, and I blame only myself for my failures. I believe that life is more about the journey than the destination.

The Storm
Posted: 1/4/2008 7:14:44 AM
From time to time,
I try to find,
ways to redirect my thoughts.
To mentally escape,
the storm brewing in my head,
so in the whirlwind I don't get caught.
Up in all the drama,
is sometimes to much to bear.
How many times,
must I lie to myself,
and say "**** it I just don't care"
Well, **** that, I'll do what I dare.
Because to me,
with the caring brings pain.
Which makes my mental climate,
just perfect for it to rain.
Well, if nobody has told you yet,
I'll tell you so you'll know.
You can dig you roots as deep as you want,
but it's the rain that makes you grow.
So............
if life was all sunshine,
we'd be nothing more than sand.
Only then in life,
would there be no more strife,
but the rain would be in constant demand.

Hey there - I recently moved back home to the Columbus area from Aspen, CO. I've always had a very active social and personal life so I NEVER expected to try "on-line" dating but....please take the time to read my profile and if I sound interesting, drop me a line. Thanks for the read and good luck to everyone in their adventures!!

I joined Plenty of Fish in October of 2007. I live in a far west Cleveland suburb. Grew up in this area, but have also lived in Sandusky and the Seattle area. I moved back from Washington in April of last year. I'm interested in dating (men) and making friends of both genders for messaging and hanging out. I really enjoy listening and dancing to blues music, and don't want to waste my weekends sitting at home alone. I've been to the Savannah in Westlake and hope to meet people who would like to get out and let their hair down. I have a lot of other interests (see profile) and feel that life is too short and precious to not do the things you enjoy. I don't have children, but I do have 5 parakeets who always manage to make me laugh - but they're not really good dancers. So, if you're interested in exploring all the fun the Cleveland area has to offer, drop me a line.

Hi all I'm Angie

I'm just here to meet people and make some friends. Not really interested in a relationship right now but you never know I suppose;-)

I did notice that the Ohio forum has more posts than any other state! Is there a reason for that or is there just so little to do in Columbus that we all go to the internet? hehehe

Yes, I use a man from Fairborn. He is great! You can visit his studio or book him to come to an event. His photography is amazing. and 5 of his nudes have been published in national magazines. But he does all kinds of photography. Check out his page.

Hope I'm doing this right. lol.. My name's Tim Rowley. I'll be 35 on the 11th of March. The so called tall dark and handsome type. lol. more like old and gassy. lol. just kidding. I may be old in body, but heart and mind, I'm still about 20 or so. lol.

I'm easy going, Have the live and let live phylosophy going. I don't care who you are, or what you're like, I'll talk to you. Don't get me wrong, there are people that can push my buttons like with anyone else. But I'm the type of person that would get in your face and tell you off. Just to let you know that Insults, rudeness and being stupid doesn't fly.

Guess you can say I'm the cowboy destined with a broken heart. It's so hard to find the right one. And so far, I'm o for o. lol
