Hi. I was reading your answers to comments made and I am a recent widow and 53 years old. My husband and I were together for 25 years, married 23. He was a workaholic, and started his own small business in southern Oregon. He never went to the doctor willingly over the years, but was seemingly healthy. Then one day he came home not feeling well, but still would not go in. Seven days later, he was gone from a heart attack that lasted two days. Like you, I am kind of nervous about dating and it has probably been even longer for me. We have four children total. He had two from his first marraige, but she died at 23. Then I had one from my first. My son is now 33. Lastly, my husband and I had one daughter together. She is now 20 and is home part of the time. Also, my 82 year old mom lives with me. She is sweet and not much work.
As a result of his death, I now own my own business. That is a little scary for me too.
So that is my story. Thanks for reading

Hello all,
I have recently moved to Oregon and am looking for more friends (both men and women). I have a wine club in www.meetup.com where I post events often. I hope to meet you there soon.

Cheers,

Hi rjfdist,

I was widowed myself 21 years ago. It is really scary starting a new life, especially so suddenly. I was 29 when my husband died and my daughter was 5. We muddled through and came out OK. I'm not going to tell you that you'll get over your losing your husband because you never really do, but you will gain distance from it as the days go by and while you'll always miss him, someday the missing him won't be the biggest part of your life. If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to message me.

blessings,

rayne

Hi, I am a brand new POFr (that sounds weird) and also new to online dating. I'm surprised to find myself 50...when did that happen? My marriage ended a couple of years ago and the final decree should be arriving anyday. I'm living alone for the first time in my life and loving it but I am tired of being "oh poor you" with all my married friends and family. I'd like to meet nice men and get to know them slowly and I'm also looking for single friends to just have fun with.

Hi,

I actually live in California, but am only a 20 minute drive from the state line. I am 42, divorced, have a weakness for younger men. I am a playful, fun BBW (size 16).

Hey all you OREGON POF'ers. Nice to meetcha.

I've been on this site for over 6 months and have really enjoyed meeting a few people (some of them even in person!!!). Oregon is a wonderful state to live in and if you are seeking like-minded activity friends, there are more activities than most folks have time for.

Personally, I enjoy getting together with a friend and taking a drive to the beach for brunch, going to a free outdoor concert, meeting up for a glass of wine at one of the various wine tasting rooms in the area, going to a OREGON DUCKS football game and having homemade chili and cornbread afterwards, heading to one of the various lakes to play in the water (dang I wish I had a boat), or even Starbucks and a coffee make for a nice meeting/date.

Would be great if we had a get-together in this area(Willamette Valley), so a bunch of us could meet all at once. Anyone interested in working on this with me? Maybe for early September. My social life will be coming to quite an abrupt end after 9/24 when I am back to school full time. But....if anyone wanted to help with organization and logistics, I'd be more than happy to be a co-planner for some kind of POF event.

Well....good luck to all of you in your search...for whatever it is...friends, romance, LTR, and email buddies.

Hello to my fellow Oregonians.

I'm not sure what to post that's not covered in my profile, but I'm a forty year-old single male who's rather pleased with a number of elements in his life, and is working to make the rest of his existence equally pleasant.

That being said, I hope you all find what you're looking for. Life's too short not to find something to smile about.

Hi. My name is Darin from The Dalles, Oregon. I'm a 32 year old nerd/geek. I guess that's what I would classify myself as. You read my profile and be the judge. Anyway, hmmm..... I'm just looking for a good woman to have fun with and hang out in the 22-40 age range. Thanks

Hi to everyone out there...
I would like to meet someone to have some fun with that perhaps could turn into something more down the line.. but the hours that I work does make it kind of hard to meet that certain someone... just hoping someone would like to meet someone honest and willing to try new things... I will not lie I am also a thick woman.. and some of the men here can be cruel... age means nothing to me but the maturity on the inside does count

Hey Michaelsmom, I just found this forum. I'm a widow of two years after 26 years marriage and I too am looking for a man. You described him perfectly. A James Garner from Murphy's Romance or maybe a Grizzly Adams type, but the rest you hit right on the nail head. I'm 59, not seeing many guys even over 30 on this forum. I'm not a tiny petite woman, but I've been husky all my life. Hard working woman in lots of physical jobs until now. I sit at a desk!!!!! It's unbelievable for me. So if there are any guys out there that want fun, honest, caring, spontaneous, mysterous and many many more adjectives, check out my profile.

Hello all..

I'm another single parent living in the Portland Metro area. Grew up here, left here, and came back to what I have always thought of as home. No beauty like the pacific northwest (except for a few other countries)! I'm here to make friends, hang out, or date if things seem to flow that way. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Happy, joyous and free seeking same! Having strong family/friends ties in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, I’ll be making my move to PDX soon.

While a sweetheart would be nice, I am seeking friends on all levels of common interest. A high content of character and integrity is a requirement.

Hope everyone has a weekend filled with many blessings and much joy!
