| Still learning my way around

I've been in E. TN nearly 2 years having come from PA and still trying to meet and make new friends. I'm a soon to be 46 year old divorced mom with 2 kids at home; a 6 year old son and 15 year old daughter. In all I have 4 kids and 2 grands but the oldest 2 are out on their own.
I enjoy a variety of things including gardening, going for walks, reading, crafting etc.
I hope to make some great friends here at POF.
My kids and their friends tell me I'm cool...holler at me sometime.

I love it here.. living in a small town
(I know.. some of you may laugh and consider I live in a major metropolis..)
is very different.. having it's good and bad.. Until I moved here,
I had never thot of the opening of an Eckard's
as a major event..
My first year here, went to the Horse Show (the National Walking Horse Celebration).
It was.. different..
I watched horses come out and go around in a cicle..
then they turned around.. and went in a circle the other way.
Then they left..and more horses came out.
they went around in a circle.. then they turned around and..
To paraphrase Bob Dylan..
"they did that for over an hour.. then I hung up"
The first year I got here, I learned how much fun it was being bitten by a brown recluse.
(not half as much fun as an Eckard's opening, lemme clue ya in..)
Going to the local bookstore would be nice, if we had one..
Or the art supply store.. the one next to the book store..?
Well.. having been here long enough to say I live in Shebvul.. y'all
(I think it took three years for my first 'y'all' to pop out)
may think I have had second thots about moving here..
Well, then ah'd say y'all ain't got no more sense'n a betsy bug..
Cuz my second thots are about January in short sleeves, fireflies in the evening,
sunshine in the morning.. and some of the nicest people I've met outside of
Australia.. and did I mention I never liked my beard when it iced up..?
and when I hear the phrase "wind chill factor" I start to chuckle..?
So.. maybe Tom Dooley never made it here.. but I did..
But.. I still won't eat grits. (Hush puppies yes..grits.. no.) | |

I recently joined and have met a few nice guys and appreciate everyone that has sent emails and things. I can't say I have had any problems with people not answering my emails cause I haven't emailed anyone yet. Good luck on the emails and finding what you are looking for.
