Posted: 5/10/2009 11:04:05 PM | Spent many years growing up on Vashon and Orcas Island and wonder if there are any people here who live on either island? If so what do you like most? I miss digging goeduck, late night crab gathering with lit Coleman lanterns, and the overall friendliness and how so many were environmentally aware decades before environmental issues were in the news. Talk about waste not want not and use it up wear it out find a need or do without living. Have been left some property and will be spending more time there again.

Posted: 5/11/2009 3:57:07 PM | Welcome back to the San Juans, ZenBeth! I'm not on Orcas or Vashon but my sister lives on Guemes so I'm there often and I'm kinda/sorta living part time on Whidbey.
My favorite part of Orcas is Camp Orkila. I went there for camp in 6th grade and then as a chaperone for my son's 5th grade camp a few years ago. | |
