Posted: 6/10/2006 2:36:11 PM | Ah hell...I might as well introduce myself here. I have a long and sordid story about why I'm on here...but hey, I might as well get it out in the air. I've been on POF for about a month or so...found out about it from a friend of mine on Yahoo...not sure whether to thank him yet or not...so about me.
My name is Jason, I am 26 and I live in Calgary. In January my fiance ended our relationship and left me to look after our 2 year old daughter. Ok...fine and dandy...no problem there so far right? Wrong...this happens 2 days after I start my second semester at SAIT(taking Architectural Technologies), and after starting a new job. Prior to that I was a part time student(night courses) and a full time stay at home dad. Well, with no money, and nowhere to turn I was forced into moving back in with my parents. A-HA!!!!! Knew that'd catch your attention. Yes, I live with my parents. No, I don't completely enjoy it...why not? Well despite the fact that my expenses are covered for the most part(rent, bills, food) the simple fact remains that I am 26, have a child and live with my parents...this is why I don't know if I should thank my friend or not. I have found it extremely difficult to meet people...even online. I'm beginning to wonder if there are actually people out there who are not lying on their profiles when they say they are "nice, caring, and open-minded"...because the second people find out about my living situation they stop all contact with me...without waiting to hear the circumstances behind it. It actually has made me second guess whether or not I should even bother looking to start over with someone new.
Now with that being said...I am on here to meet new friends, and do a little dating. Right now I don't think I can afford the time to commit to a serious relationship as I have one year left at SAIT...so between 2 jobs(the second job coming in fall), school, and my daughter, my time will be taken up for the most part...but I'm still open to friendships and casual dating...that is, if there are any understanding, accepting, and openminded women in this city. If not, then I will accept it for what it is and do what I know needs to be done...raise my daughter...alone if need be.
I've been in Calgary for 6 years(off and on) and still don't have many friends...because of moving from Saskatoon to Calgary, back to Saskatoon, and back again to Calgary, I have not had the opportunity to lay down some solid roots...but I'm here to stay, so if there are any ladies out there that are woman enough to at least make a new friend of me, then hit me up...if not, then I will just delete my profile and focus solely on my daughters future and forget about mine.
Now I realize that this may sound a little trite, and perhaps a little more dejected, but to be honest, I'd rather focus on my daughters happiness if I am not able to focus on mine...even if it is only for a little while. My daughter is my entire world, and I have fought(and still am) tooth and nail to keep her with me...so if I can't be happy with someone, I can at least be happy knowing that my daughter is happy. | |

You are going to meet lots of new people out there... never let anyone judge you for your situation... you are doing the best for yourself and your daughter in the manner that best presents itself at the moment...
I suggest you come out to some of the parties that we throw for the singles... it's an awesome way to meet people... people show up by themselves or with other friends they have met... you will be able to meet a wide range of people very fast...
Go into the party threads and check out the upcoming venues... pick and choose which ones you want to attend... we are all friends out here, and some of us are couples as well... the link below is to the big summer bash... check it out and sign up if you are interested...

for example, people aren't normally corked outta their minds while they're surfing the net, and it's more intimate because you can actually communicate instead of yelling at each other, over the band.

Im Rich, im a guy who has transformed from one person into another. Well to be more specific, Ive lost almost 100 pounds, quit smoking, lounge at the nearby clubfit and eat like a health nut and no I havn't gone crazy lol. No I just enjoy being in control of my life.
Im very accepting of all people, I dont care if you think your fat or think your thin. I was once over 370 pounds, and I know how it felt. I felt great! Ive never had self esteem issues like some others, but I did love myself even then. I just took it to the next level and off goes the unneeded. I love to support and help people.
And to love and support my hockey team, the edmonton oilers. (while typing that I had a mental image of like 200 women hitting the ignore button my profile. Yikes!  ) | |
