I rescued 15 baby quail from certain death today while their parents prattered back and forth trying to scare me off. They were soooo tiny it was almost unbelievable.

Oops, wrong thread. I guess that really wasn't a nice thing for someone.

I just went and pulled one eyed Johny out of Bonanaza river. He was buried with his rubecon to the axles. Took all my winchline to reach him! It was good for a chuckle to rescue him and the good looking seat cover he had with him.

The last nice thing I did... Recently my friends, who will remain unnamed... a couple, married for years with 3 kids, had gotten into a big battle and had decided to split. I hadn't been around too much and was shocked as she told me all about it over coffee. They are both very dear friends of mine I love them both.. She takes care of my daughter when Im working, He used to take me to and from work because we were in the same area. I watch thier kids sports events like, bmx, ball, track and field, etc. We have had many a barbque on the patio and shared many many stories. So our kids play together, we play together. When She had to work for a while, I would come over watch the kids till he got home and cook for her kids and her hubby. So all in all ... we are very close. That being said... I WAS SHOCKED... so I leave her house still stunned and wondering whats going on in her mind, and what hes feeling right now. She essentially kicked him out.. wierd as it was. I dont ask her about it for a couple of days, when my roomie and I are out on the patio and who pulls up, her hubby.. This is normal he pops by on occasion to shoot the shite or visit with my daughter.. she calls them auntie and uncle awwwww Now at this time Im thinking... Oh god...I wonder whats up, where hes staying, etc etc, but as I listen to him talk I realize that they are in fact back on again. WOO HOO so things are ok... OK SO.. I had been planning something that I was really looking forward to, like something that was very important to me, I needed to be up and have all my things sorted for the next day. Someone whom I also adore was coming to see me the next day and had a big day ahead of us.... We all talk on the patio for a while then came inside. He informs my roomate that he wants to take me for a game of pool and a chat.. so now im saying to myself... YOU CANNOT LEAVE, you have obligations in the morning that you are so excited about .. you are bursting at the seams.. really no not possible... So after I say.. no no I should stay home, comes a chorus of reasons I should go and the roomie also telling me I should go. Normally... I would just be my B i t ..Y self but I did feel for him and could tell he needed to talk. SO I SACRIFICE my beauty sleep and forgo my bed for the smoking room of the pub, filled with girls who I am SURE were nowhere NEAR old enought to be in there... All dolled up.. Im in my jeans and a hoodie... hes in about the same.. we're loud and took over the table fairly quickly. Im shaking my head thinking... why the HELL did you agree to this.. So we play pool for a while, have some drinks... after a lot of convincing I agreee to head out to another spot have some MORE drinks, he can always count on me not to judge the situation and always give my open and brutally honest opinon... so he spilled his guts, had a little all out in the open moment and was feeling much better. Well I WAS NOT it was 3am, and I was up the next day at seven, so four hours of sleep before my MUCH ANTICIPATED friend was to arrive and yea I was completely scatterbrained in the morning, people were late and I kept my friend waiting for over an hour, i felt SO SO SO bad, it sucked ... but hey... what you do for a friend... shakes head... maybe I need less dramatic friends? LOL

1. a few weeks ago, while driving along marine close to boundary I stopped with a friend and helped someone push their car back on the road from the bush where he had launched it. (once we established he was not drunk just a bad driver) (It was raining hard that night)

2. Drove over to the Island and surprised (well me being there the first day was a surprise) friends by spending several days moving boulders, rocks, soil and planting stuff in their yard. And if that isn't enough I entertained them of my stories of how I managed to: drop the pruners and slice my pants and leg; let the lawnmower cord slip, whip it across my chest causing welting and bleeding at the same time teaching the neighbor boy a new set of swear words; almost losing an eye. I am Queen of the Impossible.

It's a little bit of believing in karma and a whole lot of growing up in rural MB, but I try to go out of my way to help people. If you didn't back home, especially in the winter, people could die if they were stranded. It's one of the things that I feel make Canadians unique is the fact that we're a very caring nation. We're not as grandiose in the way we help as say the Americans. We quietly go about getting the job done in the little ways that count and we try to not rub people's noses in it. It's very important to leave people their pride when you give them a hand up. That way you don't make them dependant. It's better to leave them empowered and feeling that they can pass a good deed onto the next person who could use a boost. My 2 cents anyways, it's how I live my life and I've built my careers and volunteer work around this philosophy.
Anyhoo, last nice thing I did was yesterday when I chatted with a homeless guy on the beach who was lonely. We've known each other for a couple of years and he just needs someone to chat with once in awhile who doesn't think he's looney. Gave him some food that he shared with a young kid who had slept the nite down on the sand.
Pass on the good deeds, eventually we'll all depend on someone to look after us when we're in need.

That is so so sweet SDD.... the last nice one like that I witnessed... I was with a friend, we were sitting on the patio of a great seafood place near the water, downtown Victoria... A very wide variety of people there. We are having a great time.. chatting and laughing, maybe a little people watching. Now, my friend is not the most approachable person, meaning he looks intimidating... not for me but... you know what I mean. Clean cut, works hard, plays hard... etc etc... very much a mans man...This older man, covered in the weeks dirt and dust, carries a bunch of flowers by.. Almost the whole restaraunt refused to acknowledge the poor mans exsistance, pulling away from the fence as he walks by... but when he walked by our table, we let him talk, as he told us that he didnt steal the flowers but had merely picked them from a municple building so he could eat... So my friend, gives him some money... takes the tattered flower, we all smile. He was so so thankful and the flower was very sweet.... who cares if I got if from a bum... HEHE I thought it was very sweet There should be more people willing to not shut out those who are less fortunate... one day it could be you... life works in mysterious ways. Ill always help with a few bucks if its for food... I draw the line if its quite clearly for booze or anything else.. I buy gifts for kids who cant afford Xmas, and I also donate all my old clothes, toys and whatever food I can manage for the local battered women's shelter. If someone needs help ... I help... the comedy is quite clearly free... LOL

Ok so... my gf has been very depressed lately, she has 3 kids, plus 4 daycare kids, her hubby works fulltime and they are scraping by.... that being said.. let me tell you about my sunday. Wake up... about 8:30.. Her hubby calls me at around 10 to see if Im comin to bmx.. we go take the boys to bmx.. tightening helmuts and cheering the boyz on.. One of them did to moto's with a damn flat tire... ^and still got 3rd^ another kid was tryin to bully thier son, to which we simply replied... "kick his ass on the track bud"... god boyz are mean... Already glad she didnt come... she would have snapped within the first half hour.. so instead shes at home.. just grumpy, and been sick with a sinus infection all weeh Which I can totally relate to. We come back, shes really cranky... She has wanted to fix up her house for a long time. So I decide that i will paint her livingroom a lovely colour and that she should leave for a while.. she leaves to watch her oldest ball game and I get started, taping... cutting.. OWCH and more cutting.. She comes home and we banish her to the bedroom... attempting a "While you were out" moment... and then roll, roll, roll. I made some sunflower artwork for her walls and re-arranged everything. Everything is pretty symetrical and very zen..Giving her a bright and sunny room, with a ton more space. I didnt get home till almost 2am... i wanted so bad to wake her up right then.. It looks so amazing, like right out of a magazine. I have an aweful shoulder but every twinge of pain puts a smile on my face, because that woman does more for everyone than she ever gets thanked for. Things you do for a friend..

Good on ya Peach!!! I love seeing people doing good for each other Afterall, we are all the same at the end of the day, aren't we?

The last thing I did for someone else was pack my fiance's suitcase for him (filled with love notes and cards from me and the kids) so he didn't have to stress about it. :)

The last thing I did for someone I didn't know was ...... geez..... I dunno? I do nice things for people in my life all the time, but I guess I need to think outside the "box" as it were...

Geez, thanks a lot Peach! now I got something ELSE to add to my "to do" list!!! sheesh!

I have given away my kids old bikes to other little ones in the hood; and I have taken my elderly neighbour to do her shopping.
