| What's the latest nice thing you did for someone? Posted: 1/23/2008 9:03:16 AM | Conducted an unannounced 'real-life roleplay' with a friend that tied almost all their issues that have been affecting their quality of life into a nice, neat package and invited [forced] them to throw the 'package' out.
Truth be told, I enjoyed the empowerment process more than they did, but then I usually do.

| What's the latest nice thing you did for someone? Posted: 1/23/2008 11:17:53 AM | The other night coming out of my office I met a fellow looking on the sidewalk for cigarette buts. I ask him if he was homeless. He said yes but he would not be for long. I gave him twenty dollars and told him to get some cigarettes and a decent meal. I have not seen him since but I wish him well. | |

I had to run off to a classmates last week at 7pm.... come home and photocopy the assignment and return it asap...my daughter was beyond words....but that is what parents do right?
No Xmas presents or birthday gift for me this past month.... except for a cheque from my folks...so...my 3 little girls got xmas presents, two of them had birthdays, and I paid for art classes for them that started this week. The cheque was to cover my weekend to Vegas trip that I organized for a group of 100 singles... it will have to happen another time. I am glad I made the holidays better for my kids, it was not a big deal in the end... it was the natural thing to do. They have had a rough last few years with the divorce and breakup of the family.
I pay for pple's coffee all the time... help someone out at the grocery line if they are a bit short.

Of course we can assume you also provided an ample supply of tissue paper for the cleanup following head extraction.

Our motivation for doing kind things should not be to look good in the eyes of others, but simply to be helpful. However, if someone does a good deed just to tell others about, it is still worthwhile. Me - I am trying to do one good deed a day but I don't really keep count.
A better question - What is the latest nice thing someone did for you?

Forgave a friend with whom I'd had no contact for 5 - 6 years, & offered her a room in my house for as long as she needs it until she gets on her feet. A marvellous side benefit here is that it was healing for both of us.
And, of course, I'm still feeding the abandoned cats each & every day, no matter what!
These are just some of the things.... Cheers, Penelope

| What's the latest nice thing you did for someone? Posted: 2/17/2008 10:19:35 PM | I do a lot of nicest things for my partner in a relationship, I hope everyone does. Proactively, I guess one of the nicest things I have been credited with was being the sole support for a program to help get kids off the street in a nearby city for three years. Lately I have gotten five girls addicted to drugs off the street into a recovery house we just opened three weeks ago. Sorry, can't claim anything astonishing. That's the story of my life these days, uneventful but somehow satisfying. Looking forward to better......LOL | |

I have been doing it for ten years now ever since she had a heart attack, and had a quaddroople bypass. She can't walk down the stairs properly now. Had lunch with a friend today who is disabled needs help with walking. He uses a cane so I let my friend hold onto my arm, when we were walking to do the door at the restaurant.

| What's the latest nice thing you did for someone? Posted: 2/17/2008 11:45:19 PM | | There's this man who sits outside the store I grocery-shop at. He's not an alky or druggie. He has terminal cancer & is raising a preteen daughter. I buy groceries for him whenever I see him there & sometimes I sit on the ground next to him & shoot the breeze about life. But this week I bought some Valentine's goodies for him to give to his daughter for Valentine's Day. I try to do a 'Random Act of Kindness' thang daily but if I don't go out, sometimes there isn't a chance. | |

If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:1-4
