I am running windows 95 and would like to know about setting up passwords. I don't have a manual and would like to know how it works. I do not want to set it up and not be able to get back in myself. That would be a terriable thing.

It's kinda like just having a flyscreen door on a bank vault, it ain't much protection against dishonest people.

Hmmm.

Get a hardrive new install the hardware, remove the older disk with your fathers data on it. Install the os on a new drive, add the other drive as a secondary drive, no password. :)

Ophcrack is a Windows password cracker that runs off a CD.

You need to make a bootable CD of the .iso but it's not really that hard.

Go here to get the .iso of Ophcrack: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=133599&package_id=167699&release_id=537116

Then to make the process of putting it on a CD so it boots download ISO Recorder: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

1 Download Ophcrack
2 Download ISO Recorder
3 Right-click the file ophcrack-livecd-1.2.2.iso and choose "Copy Image to CD" to make the CD
4 Put the CD in the computer that you want to find the passwords for
5 Reboot
6 let it go, it start automatically, it may take a minute or an hour depending on the complexity of the password
7 write down the passwords

Or seeing that it's Windows 95 you could also just skip all that and press the escape key to bypass the password screen
