As an aside: Haiti's problems are not the fault of the US

Asia: S.Korea The stupid shi.t you can think of... they do it in Korea. Sewer smell all over the city. And the worst is racism. What they see on TV, is "reality". Whites are doctors, lawyers, execs, and Blacks are gangsters, rapists, theives. They have a status level for Asians.... they cry about Japan. And on the map they don't recoginze the Sea of Japan.
Europe: Romania!!!! Homeless kids in streets and train stations. Nearly mugged across the street from the palace. The ppl try to shake you right hand and dig in your pockets with their left. Dogs everywhere.
Middle East: Saudi Arabia -- they throw trash out the window, on the highway! NASCAR style tailgating at 80-90 MPH and.... saw a driver on the highway, on a laptop!

| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 9/8/2009 10:30:46 PM | More stories: in Cairo, I got bedbugs in my hotel and by 3 wks of traveling alone as a female, I was ready to move on and so very sick of being hassled by men-and yes I dressed modestly, covered my hair, etc, but on last day, the last straw was my taxi driver telling I could get a discount if I gave him a handjob! This was after the felucca got stuck on the Nile and one of the crew tried to fondle me in my sleep! Oh well, I hear it's much worse for western women in Morrocco The sights were truly amazing tho, and the food was quite good.
Bangkok is very polluted and traffic is totally out of control. Was robbed there, but not by Thais, but Morroccans staying in my guesthouse-that was when I appreciated America-the embassy was dedicated to my cause and very kind
NYC-I kept feeling like I would get run over on the sidewalk, tho much to do and see and made many many new cool friends in a week.
Martha's Vineyard-there is like no place there that will let a welldressed female use their restroom! I was shocked
Ghana-guys pee in public and people poop on the beaches. Must say tho, of every country I have been- the people truly are the friendliest in the whole world there, so that makes up for many other things!

| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 11/12/2009 4:31:14 AM | Each place i've been to has good and bad points, it has depended not only on the place, but the people I met there too. I've been to some awfully designed, dirty places but loved the people that I met there, and so will always remember it fondly.
The worst places i've been on a variety of levels are: Edmonton, Canada. Very impersonal city with nothing but a huge mall just outside the city limits. Venture into the city and you find nothing of interest, especially in the winter when it's super cold. Madrid, Spain. Would have been ok in the summer, but I was almost pickpocketed about nine times, it was colder than expected and seemed to have been modelled entirely on London. There were some redeeming qualities, but unless you know a local you will get tourist trapped absolutely everywhere.
Magaluf, Spain. Full of pale, chubby British people drunk on Sangria. No culture whatsoever, unless you venture out to Palma Nova. Dirty. Overpriced.
Atlanta, Georgia, Red Deer, Canada and Toulouse, France all come in pretty low, too.
My absolute favourite place for culture, friendliness, cleanliness and everything in-between is Sevilla, Spain. San Sebastian is also lovely, as are Wellington, NZ, Portland, Oregon, Victoria, Canada, St Ives, Uk, I love London, UK and Bergen, Norway. Stockholm, Sweden, Gothenburg, Sweden and Vienna, Austria.

| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 11/13/2009 1:25:14 AM | Benguela, Angola was the shadiest place ever I have been.
As for Red Deer & Edmonton , I can not see how in a million years that is the worst place you have ever been. Toronto would be the worst in Canada, followed maybe by Van, Ott, Que, and some other metro ON/Quebec cities.
Pickpocketers are everywhere. You just have to know how to protect your stuff and yourself. The Tomato Festival in Spain was a pickpocketers heaven because everyone was really drunk. Trains, Buses, Stations, Stairs, Crowds. Watchout.
I was resting on the railing outside a station in Moldova or was it Serbia (its all a blur, y ou know how it is when your travelling for long periods of time), drinking a few cheap beers being entertained by the street performers. Watched a team of theives smoothly opening bags on peoples back as they were walking up the stairs, I got quite an education. They knew I was watching and I did not care, I could see them eyeballing me for the first few times. On that trip I learned alot about how people move, body language and eye movement. I got out of many tricky situations by just paying attention. Like who is behind you and for how long. This becomes crucial in poor countries. If you want to get drunk and pass out on the street in Budapest at 2am, expect bad things will happen. I have heard many drunken stories, from Brits and Aussies while on the road, across the pond.
