| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 2/13/2007 8:12:20 AM | | i don't like to use the word "worst" but i will admit i really struggled in India. Not all the places i visited in india (I really enjoyed Jaipur and Pushkar) but there were a few occassions where I thought to myself that I just coudln't take it anymore, which was shocking to me because i've travelled all over the world and never felt like that. however, i've had friends go who love it and can't wait to go back. | |

| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 2/13/2007 8:21:19 PM | hmm..I would have to say "Belize" in Central America is the WORST place that I have ever been to. The locals are uneducated, (my date included, lol), the government is the equivalent of neanderthal monkeys, and 'hot' water is non-existent there.
I'm SO glad to be an American..omg!! lol
I DON'T recommend visiting Belize unless you have no problem boiling water for your dinner nightly. I prefer filtered water myself. In the States. lol

| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 2/14/2007 10:00:30 AM | Hands down, Kingston, Jamaica. Five minutes from the airport and our hotel shuttle was silent as we dumbfounded middle class Americans tried to absorb the degree of poverty we were surrounded by. Sheet metal/plywood/cardboard shacks seemed to be the norm, chickens and goats were running around everywhere, "normal" houses covered with iron bars looking more like armed forts. We were told by at the hotel that we should never leave alone, and not to go out at night at all. The armed guards at the gate and front door should have been a hint. I'm 6'5", at the time 230 and grew up in Southeast DC, so I wasn't used to not going where and when I wanted to. I ignored that rule and damn near lived to regret it. I went out to a KFC at 9pm about ONE BLOCK from the hotel. On the way back I had to dodge four very persistent beggars and a couple of guys I'm very sure were just waiting for a chance to mug me. I have never been happier to walk through a gate in my life. | |

| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 2/14/2007 5:50:22 PM | Georgia I was stuck there for one week and I didn't see anything great but a bunch of racist people. They kept calling me names because my friend's so call friends told them I was Cuban. So long story short I didn't stay quite and call for help and let's just say that the devil did go down to Georgia and took care of business for me. I'll never go back to that small minded town again. | |

| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 3/2/2007 2:19:40 PM | Petropovlosk, Russia. Where the nuclear sub bases used to be. Actually the subs are still there rotting at the moorings..The guards get paid in vegetables and that is NOT a joke.
Ever seen black snow? Reminded me a bit of a****ns novel. Coal fired furnaces everywhere. Absolutely the most depressing place I've ever been. Lost several pounds quite quickly as there was nothing I could bring myself to eat..
Amazing that the people were so friendly...(I suspect heavy use of drugs, LOL) I damn sure would!
Oh, and you men, trust me, just show up and you can leave with a wife...AND they'll pay you!

| Disgusted? Posted: 3/4/2007 1:01:59 PM | Am I the only one disgusted by this thread? Someone didn't like Egypt because there were Arabs there! Another Belize because they are poor and uneducated!
What the hell is wrong with you people. Why aren't you moved to make the world better instead of criticizing cultures you clearly do not understand? I truly do not understand. I am embarassed for you, for my country and our reputation. Please, do the US a favor and stay home.

| Toronto Ontario Canada Posted: 3/7/2007 1:28:14 PM | | Toronto Ontario is horriable, dirty streets, lousy transportation, high crime, not to mention the street beggars. Stay well north of the city, don't go farther south than HWY 9 or you'll get shot, ice also falls from the CN tower killing a few every year and the city covers it up. | |

| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 5/17/2007 2:25:36 AM | As a former Western New Yorker, I'd say it is a tie between Buffalo and near the Cleveland Clinic in winter time.....Buffalo, at least when I was there, was okay but boring, lot of good places closed down there, including some good stores and shops...And when the snow gets bad, you never know when the buses will show up. Just IMHO, though.......Guess I just am a different breed of horse, though....or is that cat? Anyway...! | |

| Worst place you ever been? Posted: 5/20/2007 6:29:18 AM | As a holiday I have never been in a "worst place" and I hope I never will be.
But as a worst place while traveling, has to be the Charles De Gaul airport in France. Absolutely nightmare, I have never seen drug addicts and drunks in the airports before hanging out there and people just stepping over them.
Then in the restaurants some of the service staff are very rude. I was queing for a coffee and sandwich and the girl behind counter heard me speaking English. She complitely ignored me on the line until everyone else had gone and there was no way to ignore me anymore. She started speaking me French, I said to her sorry I do not speak French but I would like to have a coffee and a sandwich. She manage to give me those without any problems and all the time she just kept talking French and looking over me.
After I had paid, I said to her in English, "do you know that you are very rude and you do not have any manners?" She manage to understand that, funny isn't it.
