[Cooper lake allows alcohol guys....and they have camp sites that are *literally* right on the lake!]

I was just at the Cooper Lake State Park 2 weeks ago. Beautifull campgrounds, Good fishing Very few other people there. That is why that park is slated to git shut down later this year. Can't go swimming at the Cooper side park right now until H2O level rises about 8 feet. But like I said... it is a VERY BEAUTIFULL park.

Morning all!! Looks like everyone was quite active while I was off having fun and getting drunk!! You all seem to have some great ideas. Sorry to not contribute much but don't know the lakes you are talking about, but with this many heads "put together" I am sure we will come up with something.

Keep up the good work and ttyl!!

Guys, here's another idea that I came up with last nite. I ran it by Scott, and he seemed to think it has merit.

If we rent a van or an SUV for everybody to ride in, then we can take 2 vehicles: one to tow the boat with, and one to tow a small U-Haul trailer to haul all our camping stuff in. If there's gonna be 8 to 10 of us, then a 10 foot or 12 foot trailer ought to do it. This is gonna include tents, sleeping bags, lawn chairs, clothes, coolers, beer, beer, more beer, Purple Passion, beer, and....oh what the hell! Maybe a little food for snacks!

If we can minimize the number of vehicles, we cut down on the overall cost AND we greatly decrease the liklihood of somebody getting drunk and trying to drive off.

One last thing....does anybody here own a 4-wheeler? Those things are FUN!!

Dang dude...how much beer are ya planning on taking...10 foot trailer is what I use for scouts and we can pack enough stuff for 20 people in a 10 foot trailer for 4 or 5 days!!!

you are right , it is a beautiful park, and not that far , but we need to find one where we can swim, launch a boat, etc. If everyone brings bathing suits that is? Unless a midnite swim is in order? HMMMM. It would be cool if we can fish too? We are all gonna have to get together on this and get all our info, and input from everyone, as I said before, Spence and I will try and check out Benbrook and maybe a few other area lakes and see what's up.

here's the scoop on Benbrook, Mustang Park:

It's beautiful, water's up, boat ramp, sandy beach with float markers for the kids. fishing, skiing, huge tree's, pavillion, RV hook ups, put your tent near the water and pull the boat up to the shore. 10 bucks a car load. pitch a tent any where. if you want a table with a cover it's 10 bucks more.

i had a nice long talk with the folks that run it. real cool older couple. bring the beer and booze. we can party hard so long as they can join us. LOL. just to give you an idea what
nice folks they are...they don't allow drive through's, but when i told the lady my mission
she only charged me $1 to drive around and check out the place. during our talk, i mentioned our last party at Manhattans, and 200 people showed up. they said no prob.

they had a wedding there last weekend. they pitched tents all around the pavillion. and partied most the night. the pavillion is $100 for 24 hours. but, it needs to be reserved in advance and it's not near the water.

i can't remember everything we talked about, right now. so just ask me.

Hrs, how far away is this place?! It sounds PERFECT for our needs! I agree with what was said earler....we need to plan a face-to-face powow to hammer out all the last minute, nitty-gritty details....

Why don't we do this? We can plan a GTG and everybody can bring a different part of the plan for the camping trip for us to discuss. Maybe have dinner while we're at it. For example Tammy and Scott can bring info on their boat and truck, I can bring some info on U-Haul trailers, Hrs can bring his campsite info, Opti can bring some suggestions for jello shots and various alcoholic beverages, Somebody else (countrygirl? bomonkey?) can bring some info on food and stuff.....you get the picture. If everybody contributes a little something to the whole thing then nobody will feel left out. And this way we don't have anybody coming with the attitude of "this is mine and nobody else can touch it".

We also need to discuss, at some point, who's coming and who's not. We're gonna need a hard head count, cos unlike a Fish party at Manhattans our ability to accomidate people who just "show up" is gonna be really strained on this.

Just some ideas.

[Hrs, how far away is this place?! It sounds PERFECT for our needs!]

Benbrook lake is in the southwestern part of tarrant county. just a few miles off sw loop 820. It is a very pretty lake and I am glad to hear the level is up.

I have some camping supplies (stove, lantern, propane tree, possible propane bottle, small tent)

Hey Mikey! glad to see you can follow directions, lol unlike some people.

benbrook lake is a nice lake and with only $10 a car load we can use the rest of our money for the boooooooooze

I agree with spidey(for once, don't expect it again) we need to get teogether in person and plan all this. maybe dinner? some wheres we can't get drunk, lol so we can actually plamn this and not everyone is bringing cups. lol ok I goota go. spidey call me tonight..

Will do, Lynn! But finding a place that doesn't serve booze that we all actually want to GO to is gonna be hard! And....hey! You agree with me all the time! For example, we both agree that I'm incredibly handsome!

I was thinking too....we need somebody in charge of overall inventory before we leave. Cos you know how camping goes....you *always* forget *something* and you don't realize it till you get there.

I think this thing is going really, really well. Let's keep it up and make this happen, Fishes!

As Davan would say, party on Pof MF'ers!

Yeah, Spidey, I'm up with the idea of getting together to discuss the party. Where would be a good neutral location for everyone to meet? I am off work next Saturday the 13th if that would work for everyone else. I can get with Spence and see maybe where would be a good place and time, etc, in the meantime yall can talk on the phone and decide all that, I'm up for it. Yall let me know what I can do to help out with the food and stuff. We could do hot dogs, burgers, chips and stuff, if we get enough grills and charcoals, etc. yall keep me posted,
