I think one involves a keyboard and the other involves leaning on a bar or table with a drunken mate saying "I lurrrrrvee yousses soooooooooo mucchhhhhhhhhhh naaaaaah I'mmmmmm not a farrkin poooofttttah .... and youses arnt pooooftahs ......... but I jussssssss wanna sayyyyyyy to youuuuuuuuseeeeeeee I loveeeeeee youuuuuuusseeeeeee" - oh and if it was a female drunk it would be ............ "do I look fat in this size 10 dress ?" ?
Pmsl sarge.....obviously you been in a few North Queensland pubs at closing time then? and the women don't talk about dresses....its "cor Cheryl...where'd ya get them gorgeous thongs?"

Real life You see someone walking down the road and say Hi Immediate answer one way or the other Unless they decide to completely ignore you.

| Difference between pc chating and outside Posted: 10/1/2007 5:36:52 AM | Personally I think it's harder chatting in cyberland than in person face to face. Why is this so?... Glad you asked. With person to person (as in the flesh) we have body language to rely on. If I am speaking seriously to a person, I would much rather look them in the eye. With cyberland, how am I to really know that someone IS interested in what I am saying.....For all I know they could be frying chops whilst I'm trying to have a heart to heart. A keyboard cannot compare with facial expressions. Sure we have our wonderful little yellow man to help us out, but I hate to tell you this.....He's not real.
The keyboard can also make us misconstrue what we are actually trying to say, and this has happened time and time again at the forums. Things written one way that are read differently. Many a war has began because of this. Sure POF is fantastic, and I must admit it is easier to put feelings down in type, but somehow the message doesn't quite come together in a lot of cases.

The biggest problem is when someone tries to be funny with it.......and fail tradgicly.

I don't think we need too many details of where the sources of the hair came from but if I see a black cat with lots of band-aids on it's body that would be ok I guess.
I am not going to want to know where

| Difference between pc chating and outside Posted: 10/1/2007 8:47:09 PM | Honeslty? I hopped on to the Australian forums in the hope to swoon some girl over with simple text, so she would be into me enough to help me immigrate over there :P
Yeah, the forums are fun though. I don't expect anything from it, nor care for people's opinions. I think the internet really shows humanity's uglier side at times.
I was serious, though, kidnap me and take me to your country

| Difference between pc chating and outside Posted: 10/1/2007 9:01:42 PM | Since you speak English you cannot come here ......... plus you need to know how to pass the citizens test now.
Example:
(1) If Macca is on New Start Allowance but has 4 kids to Raelene who lives with Macca but claims a Parenting Allowance - how much can Macca earn down the back shed fixing up his mate's VL Commodore with stolen parts before Centrelink ask questions ?
(2) Sam and Fatima both have 9 kids and are claiming workers comp for sore backs sustained whilst cleaning a Westfield shopping centre. If Sam works cash in hand as a brick layer and Fatima as a belly dancer, how much money can they send to Lebanon before Centrelink gives them a parenting bonus for having another baby ?

Seriously they have now brought in a new citizens test and if you can read todays letters in our Sydney newspaper, The Daily Telegraph - it askes if waiting in line, not spitting on the ground and respecting others should have been included in the questions ?
