I don't eat butter (well unless you count peanut butter as a butter type) and although i can eat margarine, I never do or think of putting it on bread or anything either.
I had a horrible experience with butter once (Wow... that kind of sounds weird in itself.) Doesn't sound weird to me. There is a reason why I HATE butter. The smell of it even makes me very nauseous. I tell restaurants I'm allergic to it to avoid it. Thanks to a STUPID Nova Scotia tradition of buttering noses on birthdays.

Actually, the first time I ever had that done to me, it was in Ontario.

Buttering noses???
Not exactly the appendage I would have thought needed lubrication. Unless someone is looking for a promotion at work.....

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 5/10/2006 7:24:15 AM | Funny where all these traditions come from, isn't it? I had my nose buttered in Port Hope - just this side of Toronto, by a family who said the tradition came from their grandmother in Montreal.
Paige - you telling them you're allergic in restaurants - good idea. When you say you don't like something, that's not always enough reason for a server not to give it to you, is it?
When I get people to go for coffee for me, I always tell them to make sure they get it with milk, not cream, because I'm allergic. To this day, nobody has questioned me as to why I'm allergic to cream, and not milk...

Yeah, that *sounds* weird. (Doesn't just sound it, but anyway. If you care to *think* it *sounds* weird.) Care to elaborate?
Ok, I all confused now...what in the world is buttering noses? I've lived in NS my whole life...and never had my nose buttered...what exactly is it and why exactly is it done? To prepare your nose for frying? :-)
crap I quoted wrong
I feel your pain. :-) I hate when I do that.

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 5/10/2006 4:12:02 PM | | I was born and raised in Nova Scotia, but my Parents were born and raised on Prince Edward Island and we always buttered the birthday person's nose. I then carried it on with my children who are 21 and 24. I am not sure where it originated but it is considered Good Luck for the birthday person. My daughter's birthday was on the 6th of May and almost forgot but managed to get her when she was in bed and not expecting it! buhahaha! | |

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 5/10/2006 4:25:37 PM | | When I eat toast...I eatthe top crust then I eat it in a striaght line across the top...I used to have many weird habits...like food on my plate could not touch other food or i wouldn't eat it...not so bad now :p | |

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 5/10/2006 4:38:39 PM | | I don't think I have weird eating habits, other than the fact that I used to eat my pizza with a knife & fork. As a child I wouldn't eat my mashed potatoes unless some Catalina was poured over them. Thankfully I've outgrown that! | |
|
| Weird eating habits? Posted: 5/10/2006 4:46:13 PM | I eat my food one item at a time on my plate turning it counter clockwise as I do so. Sad but true. Cheers, K | |
|
| Weird eating habits? Posted: 5/10/2006 5:05:37 PM | I used to always eat two pieces of toast like a sandwich with the butter being the stuff in the middle ... I still drink milk with three ice cubes
... not overly weird, but I mean I am so much more normal then the rest of you freaks as it is

I use to eat dill pickles with a sippy straw. I know really strange eh.
I use to nibble the edges of a kit kat bar before eating the rest.

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 5/11/2006 5:22:39 PM | I didn't think this was weird but the shocked expression when I told someone makes me think maybe it is.
One of my favorite snacks is rice cakes with a bit of chunky salsa and cheese on it. If I don't have rice cakes toast will suffice.
|
