| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/26/2009 8:16:51 AM | Hmm, well, I double over the bread when I have peanut butter on it. I eat the soft bit first and then the crust.
Also, I saw a movie about all the different way places prepare hamburger. One of which was the Butter Burger - a big slab of butter placed on the patty. I have had a few that way and it IS pretty tasty. Probably no less healthy than mayo or sour cream, I suppose, but I don't make a habit of eating them. For health reasons, I usually have just a plain burger (not even cheese, as a rule), but do put ketchup on it. With salt, if I feel like a treat.
One unusual habit I have is to mix ketchup and cheez wiz to make a dip for chips.

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/26/2009 9:10:21 AM | ditto on eating hamburgers around the edges and saving middle for last..I do the same with reese's peanut butter cups...o henry bars, I eat all the choc and nuts and leave the fudge center for last...lobster I have to eat claws first, then pick the body and save the tail for last...then I start same process with 2nd and 3rd can't drink from metal, plastic or styrofoam cups, has to be glass or paper ones like timmies use...I can eat out of styrofoam take out containers tho

As kids we used to mix ketchup and mayo to make chip dip. nasty stuff in retrospect...LOL.

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/26/2009 12:32:04 PM | lol observer, that takes me back...we use to mix mayo and french dressing together..better for dipping french fries than chips tho for my taste buds
I don't like plain tostitos chips ...when I'm out of the Doritos's mexican cheese sauce... I mix cheez whiz and salsa together with a dash of cayenne pepper or chilli pwd. for extra heat...need the heat! yum!... this tastes very close to the store version

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/27/2009 6:49:31 AM | | ^^^I usually make nachos out of the tostitos chips. That mexican cheese dip is good with regular potoato chips though. | |

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/27/2009 1:14:35 PM | Have to eat with a little fork and spoon
Will not eat lobster because they resemble a huge****oache
|
| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/27/2009 2:39:18 PM | Well, lobster used to be called sea ****roaches, and they used to be poor-people's food. They are still delicious, though.
There are a lot of foods many people would not eat if they knew more about them.
Do you like honey? Know how it's made?

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/27/2009 2:50:43 PM | We used to eat sops as children. I haven't found anyone who knows what they are. You tear the bread into pieces and add milk and sugar. As weird as it sounds, it really is good! | |
|
| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/27/2009 3:30:17 PM | I've heard of that Darlena, however, never tried it...mom use to eat it, she called it bread pudding my dad use to soak bread in milk to make an infection "potion" lol...called a "poultice" or something like that, something about the protein and yeast mixture would kill the infection , ...it really worked too...as a kid in ballet and wearing those wooden tip shoes (points) toe nails had to be next to none or you're toes would bleed and cause infection...it worked on infected fly bites and stuff like that also...so, when they would offer me bread pudding, I refused that "treat" whereas I thought of it as a toe soak lol
I'll eat sea roaches lol...bring it!
I'll try reg chips with that dip Observer...sounds yummy...geez I love food wayyyyy too much lol
|
| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/27/2009 3:33:23 PM | divine.... bread pudding is usually made with hot milk and bread... is that what your Mom ate? The sops are eaten with cold milk. And as far as poultices go, I used to think my Mom was nuts but they really do work.
Speaking of bread, I love peanut butter and lettuce sandwiches. The crunch of the lettuce makes them taste so good!

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/27/2009 3:55:52 PM | ...Well, lobster used to be called sea ****roaches...
They are part of the same Phylum but that is where their linage separates.
They are both opportunistic scavengers, which is he #1 reason why you never eat a lobster freshly caught.
Which is ironic because I saw a tourism commercial for Nova Scotia the other night and they had a lobster man talking about how great it was to eat a lobster fresh out of the sea.
Lobster should be kept in live tank minimum of 24hrs before cooking.

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/27/2009 5:04:10 PM | ^^^^^never heard of that 24 hr wait period before...cpl of my uncles were lobster fishermen and as soon as boat hit shore, they were in the pot of boiling sea salt water...same as the local wharfs around here , the fishermen sell them right from their boat with no warning of a 24 hr wait...I shoulda been dead yrs ago if this was dangerous to do... this has to be an ole' wives tale James BT...only thing deadly about lobster is eating the poisonous sac close to the head in the body... another ole'wives tale is... don't have milk with lobster or you'll get sick lol... a lot of top restaurants put a milk based cream sauce over lobster meat , yummy...and my homemade lobster chowder is also milk based...personally...I want cold with my sea creatures lmao | |

Lobster fishermen bait their traps with old rancid fish (usually heiring I think).
Well depending on when that lobster entered the trap and when it was landed can make a big difference in the taste.
If that lobster still has that rancid bait in its stomach then, not good eats, if the lobster is kept alive for min of 24hrs before consuming you can be assured that all of that food has passed through its system. This may have happened if the lobster was in trap for a few days before landing, but I think that would be hard to determine.
p.s. I do not think I posted anything about it being dangerous, just not good idea.

| Weird eating habits? Posted: 3/27/2009 6:57:37 PM | no...u didn't say it was dangerous...only bad tasting lobsters I've eat'n were from the passage...I refuse to eat those ones ever again because their boats don't go out as far in the ocean as the Clearwater boats ... you can taste the slimy oil and gas from the boats that has settled on the floor, in the meat...nasty
I've been down south and ate lobsters that were caught by hand by the divers and we cooked and ate them right away, they were yummy too
geez...got the craving going now, lol..guess I'll have to pay the ridiculous price tomorrow, treat myself and get me a cpl...but I'm worth it :)
Darlena...it might have been made with cold milk , not sure..I just knew I wasn't eating anything that looked similar to a toe soak mixture lmao
just thought of another thing I eat ppl think is "weird"...cream syle corn over mashed potatoes...delish...don't knock it ppl until u try it, lol...yummy with bbq ribs or baked ham
