Geeky goth girls never like me for some reason, even though they are my favorite kind of girl
Ah, my friend. You just haven't met her yet.
You WILL meet her someday; you are entirely too fabulous to NOT have that happen.
Perhaps a visit to Convergence is in order? It's the only Goth/Sci-fi con I know of.

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 11/25/2006 1:12:46 PM | We are everywhere!
We are the ones you "popular" people used to pick on in jr. high and then you see us in the street or in a club years later and think "d*mn, that's a hot chick....oh, sh*t, I went to school with her!" Then you're all like telling us we're cute and we should go out sometime, and all we can think is you were that *sshole that treated us like crap back in the day and you wouldn't go out with them if they were the last guy on earth because they are so pathetic to now be all like telling us we're cute....
......not that I am speaking from experience or anything......

Geek in your age group here!
I'm probably a g-5. I like Trek, LoTR, and can say a few words of Klingon, but only play the old arcade classics in an arcade. If I can't plunk a quarter to play a video game, I just don't do it LOL!! I only watched anime once, and never read any manga. I only played D and D once but enjoyed it. You'll find a G-5 on the beach reading a sci fi or fantasy book or at a convention in regular clothing or a club chapter polo shirt.
I guess that makes me a G-5, then. And if you ever get the hankerin' for a road trip, you're welcome to play D&D with my group of well-adjusted and productive geeks anytime!

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 11/25/2006 4:25:02 PM | Well it does seem most guys are in agreement On their descriptions of the ''geekish girl ''
I only see one female in this whole thread that qualifies as a truely geekish girl ( and glasses would add to the geekish appearance )
While many women might have the intellect of a geekish girl
Most will fall far short of making the grade - in their physical characteristics
Here are some that come to my mind ( some previously mentioned )
Wallflowerish - a must Seldom described by most men as ''pretty '' Yet to geek loving guys- guys with eyes for geekish girls - she can be powerfully appealing. most men would not consider her as particularly sexy usually thin or average in stature ranging from either petite . to very tall Beneath the seemingly cool, calm, highly inquisitive outter exterior - one seems to sense there is a volcano of passion that may errupt at an unexpected moment
She is usually more approachable than other female types The ''library '' has to be the best hunting ground by far In fact, she might very likely be a librarian
As for the guys who look and
for these rare creatures
I have noted a ''super geek'' girl on the forums As far as geek girls go- on a scale of one to ten I'd rank her a 10+++
Guess we cannot make mention of screen names But she post frequently in many threads often in current events as well as others
Well guys ''happy '' geek girl fishing good luck

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 11/25/2006 4:36:38 PM | | im wondering where the geeky guys are....the ones that are shy, but independent, who aren't into games, and a little bit socially awkward...im the same way so we could help each other out...and make each other more comfortable. some people think for me to describe myself this way is putting me down. it is not. I am just being honest. I am not comfortable around everyone. This makes me a bit awkward, so I find it comforting when I find someone who is the same way. If you're out there, let me know. | |

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 11/25/2006 5:02:42 PM | You know, I've never understood the inclination for some people to believe there's only "one true path" to being anything.
There's no one way to be a geek just like there's no true way to be goth, punk, gay, or even human; it's just silly to think that there is.
I don't really understand the impulse but I guess if it makes them feel better to put things into neat little easily-understood boxes so that their own little world make sense.......
Frankly, I prefer the nuances and the mysteries of why people are the way they are.

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 1/17/2007 10:54:17 AM | I'm suprised no one mentioned San Diego Comic-Con. Its like the Mecca of Geekdom. Save up the money and make the trip, they even have a mixer of sorts. At first, it looks like a 7th grade dance, all the boys on one side of the room, gals on the other, but about 30 minutes in and the geek party is rockin'
I go every year. :) | |

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 1/17/2007 11:20:58 AM | I was going to write more but after reading all the postings... everything I wanted to say has been stated many times over...
Yep ......I too am a "geeky" gal...
Always was....always will be...
not popular in school but encountering some people I knew when I was 20
when I was thirty .. they could not believe I was that same geeky, plain jane, shy, introvert because I had blossomed into a beautiful self confident geeky gal...
Even geeks morf into butterflies...

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/16/2007 8:38:25 PM | Geeky = smart. Smart = articulate. Articulate = good at talking dirty!
Go on, geeky girls, .. send me a message dissecting my faulty logic chain; that'd be hot.
|
| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 12:23:24 AM | Logic, shmogic! By your formula:
All geeky girls are smart; all smart girls are articulate; all articulate girls are good at talking dirty ...So ... I am smart, articulate, and (as you know) good at talking dirty; therefore, I must be a geek!
Oh, wait ...
most men would not consider her as particularly sexy, usually thin or average in stature
...What's wrong with this picture?! Alas, I have failed the geek test!

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 2:47:36 AM | Thanks guys....I just figured it all out. I need to find myself some geeky type chick. Ya...thats the ticket...some sweet, quiet, smart, down to earth....yup that is it.
I have love for Astonomy and much more. And in my teens had a 16 inch DIA. light bucket, those of you into astonomy will know what I am talking about. Use to take photo of deep space items with it...even used infered films as well. What a blast that was...had my own dark room in the basement to do my own films and prints. I was 13 years old then.
Hay...ugly betty.....WHERE ARE YOU....???? You look cute to me...
Oh and by the way I just loved that post....this one....

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 3:00:07 AM | Check the papers for the next Star Trek convention. Wear pointy ears and before you go, bone up so that you know the difference between Christopher Pike and Jean Luc Picard. You're set! | |

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 3:14:00 AM | Are you one, Viking? Let's see if you pass the geek test. Do you think that AMD's Barcelona K10 processor will outperform Intel's upcoming Penryn/Wolfdale CPUs? | |
|
| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 4:38:50 AM | to msg 96:
I suggest you to reread what I posted. I have never used the word” I” but “them”! I don’t think “geek” or “geeky” is a proper word to use for describing intellectual and bright women. Anyway!
BTW! Is this AMD Barcelona k 10 is some sort of perfume or a new fashion design? Hee hee
…And about your question! How do I know? The important thing is that the end users care about faster performance. K10 is a whole new chip. Everybody knows that Advanced Micro Devices have a multi processor, multi core environment, so you get a picture. If one removes the old processors and places them with the new chip in the socket, then it performs faster!
However let’s hope that Intel manufacture faster and smaller chips with better usability in 2007 or 2008!

We hang out in Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, Barnies, and you'll see us at Sci Fi Conventions, Anime conventions, etc.
I'm not in your age range, but I love Star Trek (prefer Next Gen), could have a day long discussion on Star Wars, love history, medical breakthroughs, astronomy, learning....
Gee, I think we're kind of interesting
ummmm....except that I am not, nor have I ever been......quiet :)

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 5:52:45 AM | >_> Geeky Iam not to sure.
For Nerdy, try mIRC ;p
Although, Its often a challenge distinguishing the fake girls from the real ones. ;o

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 6:55:43 AM | Viking, congratulations, even though your paragraph did have a bit of a smell of copy and paste! Maybe sometime we can chat about how high-k metal gate tech stacks up against the new eDRAM incorporation.
Singlemom, you have to do more than just throw out your love of Trek and Wars. You gotta put your money where your mouth is. Like, what happened to Moriarty when Ent-D crashed, or how many eyes Ree Yees has. We're not messin' around here. We're talking serious 1337 geekizoid!
