You really thought everybody has enough time like yourself to copy the other researchers quotation on here or the other forums? hee hee I am surprised that how come they have not caught you yet! hehe

- Benefits of Windows Vista Ultimate - The necessity to uphold Star Trek canon - The CCD characteristics of a 5.1MP cameraphone - The anthropomorphic qualities of Daleks - Whether Baltar is a Cylon - The read/write comparison between Raptor and 7200.10 HDs

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 11:30:24 AM | Not every geek is a computer geek. Here's how I define the nerd/geek/dork triat.
Nerd: Intelligent and interested in useful subjects like science or math. Geek: Intelligent and interested in useless subjects like RPGs and sci-fi. (for some reason computers count in both catagories) Dork: Socially awkward. All three tend towards certain traits like glasses and bad fashion sense, and a person can be in more then one catagory.
Personally I have some of all three, though I think the geekness is the winner. I think I might need to move to Canada.

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 1:09:15 PM | Designingwoman, if JJ is serious about spinning off from Harve's Starfleet Academy then he'd better cast Gary Mitchell as well. And the only explanation for Gaius' bidirectional psychic projection with Six is that he indeed is one of the final five. Oh my goodness, this is turning out to be Mardi Geek!
P.S. I'm on Mykonos right now, so if you need any Greek Geek lessons...

| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/18/2007 9:17:27 PM | You're hilarious!
Ok, teach me. I have no idea what you're talking about.
I am not a techie...at all. My palm pilot sat on my computer desk "charging" for 3 months because I was scared to touch it. Finally someone taught me how to use it and I forced myself to use it daily...now I can't live without it and want the newest version...which is why I play Lotto...
I am totally into books, science, started out as a math major in college (until I took Economics...I thought it was home ec. Imagine my surprise )
I really like the comic book stories...and I wear thick framed black glasses...does that count???

Anchises, drop me a line. I tried to message you, but could not get through. I like cool geeks!!
Someone mentioned Starbucks. Yep, you'll find me there--I love Starbucks coffee. Even better is fair trade, shade grown stuff!! There's nothing like having a delicious coffee
|
| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/19/2007 12:57:58 AM | OK, Geek Academy class begins now.
"JJ is serious about spinning off from Harve's Starfleet Academy then he'd better cast Gary Mitchell as well."
JJ Abrams (Lost, Mission Impossible 3, etc.) has been contracted by Paramount to make the next Star Trek feature film. He has already issued a promo poster which indicates that the time period will be between the time that the young Kirk and Spock leave StarFleet Academy (ST Producer Harve Bennett's concept that has been kicking around Paramount for 30 years) until Spock goes off to serve on the Enterprise under Capt. Christopher Pike. Now in the first ep of the original series with Kirk in it, he has a best friend named Gary Mitchell who attended the Academy with him, and is even said to have introduced Kirk to Carol Marcus (who had a child with Kirk). Therefore, the comment was that JJ Abrams should cast an actor to play the Gary Mitchell role in any early-Kirk movie since they were best friends!
"And the only explanation for Gaius' bidirectional psychic projection with Six is that he indeed is one of the final five."
In the current Battlestar Galactica, Gaius Baltar was briefly President of the Colonies. He had become a Cylon (human-hating robots) sympathizer when a dropdeadgorgeous female Cylon named Caprica Six got into his mind and started spicing up dreary sci-fi scripts with some jaw-dropping (for TV) sex scenes. I still can't see what a hottie like Six sees in a scrawny wimp like Baltar, but I digress. There are various models of Cylon humanoids, but there are a mysterious final five models that apparently hold the key to an eschatological revelation of their monotheistic god. The BSG screenwriters so far have been dancing around the issue of whether Baltar is fully human or possibly one of the final five models of Cylons, planted with the humans to betray them.
Now onto #1,3,4 and 6.
- Benefits of Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows Vista Ultimate is the most feature-laden and expensive version of Microsoft's new operating system to supercede the current Windows XP that you'll find on most PCs today. Vista has been very controversial since it incorporates impossibly restrictive DRM (if you have an illegally downloaded song or video on your system it will kill it), Naziware (if you have an illegal software program on your system it will kill it) and EULA (the terms and conditions you have to agree to in order to install Vista and where MS reserves the right to kill YOU.)
- The CCD characteristics of a 5.1MP cameraphone
A Charge Coupled Device (CCD) is the image sensor that sits behind the lens on any digital camera and actually captures the "photo." A 5.1 MP cameraphone would be a cell phone that is equipped with a very powerful camera function that can take photos of very high resolution equivalent to 5.1 megapixels.
- The anthropomorphic qualities of Daleks
Daleks were the R2D2 droid ancestors on Doctor Who. This question centers around the various qualities that these mechanical beings possessed which made them similar to humanoids in some ways.
- The read/write comparison between Raptor and 7200.10 HDs
There are various models of hard drive which vary not only in capacity of total data storage but also of the speed at which they access that data (read and write data). The current champion is known as the Raptor-class hard drive which read/writes faster than any other. However, Raptors are rather expensive and limited to smaller total data storage sizes (150GB or less), thus a cheaper and larger speedy hard drive is being used in many builds which is known as the 7200.10.
And ladies, you should consider renting the ST:TNG ep where Worf and his wife K'Ehleyr are "training" in the holodeck. I have yet to watch the end of that scene alongside any female human who has not gasped and flushed!
Now I'm off to message designingwoman about setting up private lessons! (JUS' KIDDIN') :)

It's rather rare that you'll be able to keep both glasses and membership card if you (gasp) don't like Star Trek. You'll definitely have to pass the 507 question Geek Test at http://www.innergeek.us/geek.html. However, you might be able to keep your Geek Benefits if at least once a week you walk up to a random customer at Fry's, grasp him by his pocket protector, look at him straight in the eye and say in a strong, sultry voice: "If you can hack DX10 so that I can run Crysis on my Ubuntu box under WINE, I'll have your babies."

That was only the primary class. You have a way to go if you want to be considered a fullblown 1337izoid. And don't listen to the naysayers. Geekdom is a badge of honour. Any woman who fully embraces Geekery will be lusted after by more men than Jessica Alba. The men will usually wear glasses, have skin conditions and live in their parents' basements, but if you're going for quantity and not quality, you'll be just fine.
Being a Geek Goddess is not a simple task. For one thing you have to be no more than three hours behind on late-breaking tech news at any given time of the day or night. So today you'd be arguing about why D-Wave's 16 qubit Quantum Computer Demonstration was invalid due to lack of verifiability; Why ATI changed the name of its 1GB GDDR4 R600 card to Radeon X2900 XTX; and how the backbones and nodes are going to handle the Chinese sending 14 billion New Year's messages today. And please pepper your comments with references to Digg; Fanboys; C++; Stephen Colbert; license plate numbers in hex; Richard Feynman; Hafnium; Dilbert and "All Your Base Are Belong To Us." You'll also have to use dat, teh, and n00b a lot. Oh, you have to end all your posts with Qapla' and you have to have an appropriate signature at the end of all your posts. Most points are given if you refer to Hiro from NBC's Heroes or quantum physics. Examples:
Waffles: Breakfast of Hiros.
I'm Heisenbergian: When I have the time I don't have the energy and when the moment is right I can't figure out the position.
If you wanna be cute and girly you can change that to:
"What have you done to the cat! It's half dead!" - Mrs. Schroedinger.
And yes, you'll unfortunately have little choice but to move to Canada. Preferably Richmond BC or Markham ON where all the computer discounters are. I hope your daughter likes snow! And as for DW, I still have several spots available in my class schedule! I'll try to accommodate as many Geek Goddesses To Be as I can!!!

P.S. Your message blocks won't let anyone from "my country" in!!! Boo hoo. Message me!
|
| Where are the geeky girls? Posted: 2/19/2007 5:03:18 PM | Well, I changed my message blocks because Ikusa is in love with me and was complaining
I'm not so sure about all this. It seems like a lot of work. I have a lot going on with my business, kids, and college already. But I will work on it a little at a time, I promise.
Now for those hot, psoriasis-laden young men living in their parent's basements, well.....ummmmm....I think I'll stick with my list of qualities, even though it IS tantalizing

Well at the risk of sounding too geeky.... the daleks are in a way humanoids, they are mutants created by Davros from his own humanoid race the Kaleds. The needed to be encased in something so they could move around and ..um.. conquer the universe.

Ikusa? Where is he? Tell him I'm challenging him to a duel for your hand. Sliderules at dawn... to the death!
Of course becoming a Geek Goddess is a lot of work. I mean, the last thing you wanna do is trip up and make a fatal statement such as not knowing the number of pins in Socket F (1207) or the distance to Andromeda (2.52 million light years). Then the true Geek man will know you're just a wannabe n00b and will rush back to the Chess Club.
Oh, and please note for clarity's sake that I never specified that the guys living in their parents' basements were hot in any way, shape or form. Most geeks make Peewee Herman look like Rudolph Valentino.
So, are you gonna message me, or do I rebook your Geek Academy private class? There's a waiting list, you know!
To ActiveGirl16
As per square dancing, don't you think geeks are square enough?
To mogget77
Aha! So you've fallen into Davros' trap of historical revisionism! The Daleks are mutated descendants of the Dals after their nuclear war with the Thal! Davros rewrote history and awarded himself "Creator" status, when in reality, he is nothing more than a third-rate manipulator of both genetics and historical facts!!!
