| Re: How do you feel about Interracial Dating ? Posted: 7/5/2008 9:01:37 PM | | I have dated outside of my ethnicity( I don't say race, because the only "race" that exists is the human race) before. I dated a black guy, and I saw no problem with it. Even though the relationship didn't last(mostly because of him and how he was treating me), I saw past the color of his skin. It's all about the person inside, not the color of their skin. I was raised to be open-minded and not judge others just because they don't look like you. It's not the color of the skin that's important, it's how they treat you and respect you as an individual/person. | |

wow, just wow. not only are you ignorant, you can't spell!!!! i am mixed, my son is mixed. i was very seldom sick as a child. i was in gifted programs all my life and CAN spell very well indeed. my son is 4 and never gets sick. how DARE you imply that "mixing genes" can put someone at a disadvantage?! did you even pay attention in biology class when you were in school? i can tell you, as a person that was thinking about med school, there are more congenital diseases that develop from SAME race-offspring than interracial. that is why there are certain diseases specific to jewish, irish, asian, african american, indian........ so, the next time you decide to "share," don't MAKE UP things and try to convince others that they are valid. actuall = actual diffrent = different anitially = initially wen = when ricks = risks geans = genes
wow, don't discuss "geans" if you can't even spell the real word.
(sorry, guys, that this is so long. i'm just absolutely sick of hearing this same stupid excuse over and over. guess what? are you really going to argue about mixing if you need a transfusion or an organ transplant and that donor was not of your race? thought so..... )
Hilarious
You said it perfectly.
I don't have time to entertain foolishness. It is one thing to have a preference...I would much rather someone say I am just not comfortable with it, I like tradition, I don't like differences, or it's not my preference INSTEAD of making up these asinine "facts" .
I will date outside my race but I am prejudiced against ignorant and plain stupid people...sorry

| How do you feel about Interracial Dating ? Posted: 7/7/2008 5:39:13 PM | Well I personally don't feel that humans should be dating cows horses or sheep. But Monkeys are a maybe .
This question REALLY irks me. We are humans of the human race its a question of ethnic or cultural differences not racial differences.
Some people prefer to date within their own ethnic community, some have fall in love with a persons soul not their outer packaging ;) It's all fine either way as long as we dont force our personal opinions on one another.

| Re: How do you feel about Interracial Dating ? Posted: 7/7/2008 5:43:08 PM | | Good question. I've dated out of my race and dont have a problem w it at all. But... in the area I live in people still seemed to be amazed or appalled by it which I find kind of humorous although it seems to be becoming more and more common in society (ie. black women dating other races). I do believe if a man is not sure how comfortable he is introducing you to his racist parent(s) or other family members, it's probably best he go back to dating someone he's more comfortable with and not waste his time or the "other" persons. Personally if I'm not 100% accepted, neither will the relationship be to me. | |

what if his immediate family is very happy but just a few more distant relations he has no intention of inviting to the wedding are a bit iffy? seems a little harsh to say no thats it, all or nothing when the chances are you will find someone ina family that doesnt like overweight people, or republicans, or vegetarians, or classical music, or need I go on. there will always be someone with a problem with even the most perfect match for you. Obviously if an immediate family member was racist then any relationship would be under immense strain unless you put distance betweens you all, but for love I'd cut a distant aunt out of my will, no problem.

| Re: How do you feel about Interracial Dating ? Posted: 7/8/2008 10:58:32 AM | When I was a kid, about 6-7, my parents took us to a restaurant in the mostly Latin part of town, which back then was mostly of a Mexican-American demographic. Anyways, we're all sitting there when my mother and father see this interracial couple. He was Latin with black hair & medium complexion and she was Caucasian, with pale white skin and red hair. They had two children with them, a boy and a girl. I remember my parents saying something to the affect, "That's why you don't marry like that." I looked over and stole a glance at them and they looked so happy; one of the happiest couples that I have ever seen. They looked so young and very much in love. For the entire meal, I kept on looking over when they would laugh and kiss. When the kids went to get a lollipop, I went over and got one, too.
The boy didn't look much different than I did. His sister was pretty. (Yes, I was one of those boys who liked girls from the get-go. No 'yucky' stuff from me.) I kept trying to see what my parents were talking about, why those kids looked so "wrong." I never saw it. I never understood. When they left the restaurant, the couple was holding hands and her head was titled on his shoulder, their children following. Though time has taken away the detail of their faces from me, I still remember them as one of the most courageous and beautiful couples that I have ever seen. You have to remember that even in the '80s, there was a big prejudice about interracial dating and even more regarding marriage. I still don't understand why it has ever existed.
Fast forward to when I was 18 and I was having a conversation with my mother. She said something to the affect that she would prefer for me to find someone who looked like us instead of a "black girl," if I was to marry. I quickly retorted, "Shouldn't I marry someone I love first?" She just sat there speechless for a second. She had to recognize her own bigotry for what it was: stupidity.
Back track a bit:
Thinking about it, the first girl that I ever had a crush on had blond hair and blue eyes. That was in kindergarten (told you I started early). The first girl I ever kissed had strawberry blond hair and brown eyes. The first girl I ever made love to had brown skin and brown eyes. And along the way there were gray eyes, green eyes, light skin, dark skin, big bootys and petite ones. I've fallen for the whole rainbow palette of women that I have let into my life. And it never mattered to me what they looked like. All that mattered was that I wanted to be with them, I wanted to hold their hand, kiss them and when I got older, get naked with them. That still holds true today and it'll be true tomorrow.
I've always thought how fortunate I have been to be color blind when it came to people. I always was able to see people for who they were/are. I hate being subjected to prejudice because of the pigment of my skin. So why would I ever do that to another person?
I was scanning through some profiles about six months ago, when I came across this woman who claimed that she only wanted to date Latin men. Everything she wanted physically, I fit to a "T." The competition pool would be so narrow with her that it should have been a big green light to me. Right? Wrong! Because it was that one racial requirement that caused me to think less of her. I just thought to myself, "Bigot."
People are always claiming that it's a matter of preference, but I don't see it that way at all. I see it for what it is: racism in denial. There is no 'preference' about it. It's dishonest, it's ugly and those who defend it can go stick it up their @ss.

People who limit themselves to a single race are discrimanatory but at the same time that is a personal issue. I myself, "prefer" the company of asian and black women, but I have never limited myself to those ethnicities. In fact, some of my best relationships have been with white women, would you consider me "racist in denial" because of my preferences? If they want to miss out on some great experiences, that's there preference, but that doens't make them racist. Not dating someone from another ethnicity isn't being racist, it's a matter of physical attraction. Racist concludes that a person has negative views and judgement about someone from another race, not that they won't date them. I know many people who date inside their race but are not racist in the least.

| Re: How do you feel about Interracial Dating ? Posted: 7/28/2008 8:46:12 AM | Now I'm totally against interracial relationship based on one crucial observation. Most bi-racial kids that I see are simply too attractive and this is going to upset the fine dating equilibrium that we have. We can't have a new generation of beautiful people rising up and making it easier to date an attractive person.
You people..stop it! Stay within your phenotype and stop mixing creations to the benefit of society.

| How do you feel about Interracial Dating ? Posted: 7/28/2008 9:30:04 AM | | Just because black people mention the negative racist things that still go on today, does not mean it is whining. I never have understood why people say that. I guess if I was complaining to someone about being called some deragatory racist term then that means that I am whining. When people say blacks whine about racism and injustice, it is a way to minimize them as people. Most times black people ignore prejudice, because it still happens so often and what is the use in getting pissed off everytime it happens. If we did, we would just be mad 24/7. But to say we whine about it, is an insult. | |

| How do you feel about Interracial Dating ? Posted: 7/28/2008 8:05:38 PM | I've dated all over the map, except for women of my own race. Interracial dating is AWESOME (especially if the two people are from different countries).
Dating a person of a different race/culture is the easiest way to learn about other parts of the world and gain a bigger picture of the world we live in. I personally prefer Asian women just because I can. However, from my experiences with them, I have learned so much and enjoyed lots of new things from them! (Like how lots of Filipino songs are STUPIDLY LOVEY-DOVEY, and they sound like Spanish bolero singers. Except Parokya ni Edgar. They are pretty awesome.)
It's also the easiest way to pick up another language. I think hearing a woman's native language is a big turn-on for me, and I usually get somewhat disinterested in women that only speak English, especially if they are not Caucasian American.

| How do you feel about Interracial Dating ? Posted: 7/30/2008 2:00:40 PM | | It's not the other person's race that matters - it's their upbringing. Regardless of race, if they were brought up to see each other as equals with similar values, it's not a problem. If they were brought up differently, it WILL be a problem, even if you are of the same race. Like they say, we're all in the same race - the rat race!! | |

I have to say from the viewpoint of observer, yes black people do seem to shrug off or not even notice most low level racism. When I am with a black person I notice the side glances, sneers and cold shoulders from some other caucasians. Maybe I am overly sensitive, as I have this odd sense of responsibility for actions of human kind. But I am inclined to wonder if racists get away with the low level stuff, then whats to stop them from outright bullying, discrimination and violence when with like minded racists or when there is no one watching?
"In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist; And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist; And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew; And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up."
