Has anyone thought about World Grotto?
It's a non-smoking club, but it's really no big deal (I'm a smoker).
It's a really great place.
Great music, international, it kinda has an up-scale feel to it - but it's not snooty at all.
Plus, admission gets you into Preservation Pub, which a seriously pro-smoking bar!

Well I guess this is a little late, but I think a get together is a great idea. If you all have already had one,let me know when the next one is. I am pretty open to just about any place. I live in West Knoxville somewhere close to that would be great. I will keep checking back.

Interacial Dating in Knoxville...

Hey Fellow Knoxvillians,
I am new to POF think maybe 3 weeks or so, I have had a lot of stimulating conversations, and a couple of date's. My dilemma is I think that the men are attracted to me due to my ethnicity, for I am black as they come, In the day's of Beyonce's and Lucy Lu, womenofcolor have really become intriguing to men. I Know that by me being tall and dark I take the Air out of the room when I enter anyway...POF is just another way of discovering men that are a little different. This Thread I am starting is for POF ppl that have gone out on a date with a person of a different race, please share your experiences and what ya did on the date. Remember this is a "G" rated thread... My date and I met for Lunch, had a terrific one at that, we talked and laughed but I guess it was not a love connection, he has not called since, I think he was curious, and I WAS hungry that day so it worked, I have Never before dated out of my race, I suppose I was curious too, I look forward to your responses.
Thank JJ

Plans for an East Tennessee Meet and Greet. For more info on the Cleveland Meet and Greet see East Tennessee Meet and Greet. Plans are in the works for a New Year's celebration at the Holiday Inn. Hotel has already given me the group discount.

just trying to let all the singles know about the dances, even though it is not specifically POF, it is still singles and still dancing.....For those of you in the Knoxville area who like to dance but don't care to go to bars, here are the places the singles go to dance..........if you don't know how to dance, read the post, there are opportunities to learn.

Places to Dance!
MONDAYS
At Church Street UMC on Mondays
7:00 Intermediate Swing Dance #2 The Gym
7:45 Beginning Swing Dance #2 The Gym
8:30 Swing Dance Practice The Gym
Do you know what the most popular form of dance was in the late twenties and early thirties as our new building was being built? If you said the "Lindy" you would be right. Long before there was FM radio and country line dancing there was the era of touring Big Bands and the rage was "Swing Dancing." And proving once again that "there is nothing new under the sun" this form of dancing is back in vogue and sweeping across the country faster then the Chattanooga Cho-Cho. Church Street Singles will be offering Swing Dance Lessons in the Church Life Center Gym. And best of all, it is FREE. At 7:00 pm there will be Intermediate and Advanced Lessons followed at 8:00 pm by Beginner's Lessons. The instructors for this series will come from the Knoxville Swing Dance Association. These free lessons are open to all people, singles and couples. You do not need a partner for registration. You may join the series at any point. They are part of the community outreach emphasis of the Singles Council and designed to introduce Church Street and Church Street Singles Ministry to new seekers, especially young adults. Members of the congregation are encouraged to drop-in, renew or learn a new step, and welcome our visitors

Contra dancing at the Laurel Theater on Monday nights? There are free lessons at 7:30 p.m. and the dance is from 8 to 11:00 p.m. The best description of it is that it is reel dancing - they teach the moves (there is a caller) at the lessons and then you follow the calls. A partner is not necessary but I think it would be good if a few couples would go as a group, because the people there seem to have been doing it for a long time so they are kind of stuck on each other. Anyway, it is fun, not too hard, and if you like it, they hold dances in Jonesborough, Chattanooga, Athens and Greeneville too.
It's at the Laurel Theater every Monday at 7:30 - on/near the UT campus. Any questions, let me know. I will put my email below and if anyone wants to go, would be willing to carpool from Farragut. the fee for the contra dance is $5.00 - no smoking or drinking, and the dress is folksy/casual.

LINE DANCE LESSONS Linda and Friends will teach line dance lessons at Concord UMC on Thursday nights from January 17 through the end of Feb. As always, lessons are free and no registration is needed. Lessons are from 7 til 9 p.m., but doors open at 6:30 for those who want to come early and socialize. Although these lessons are for beginners, experienced dancers are welcome to come for the exercise and to help coach the new dancers. We'll start with Electric Slide and Tush Push and will include some new dances and some we haven't taught for awhile. Lessons are progressive, so if you're a new dancer, please start with the first lesson. The church is at 11020 Roane Drive in Farragut. There is a dance here on 11-30-2007--cost $5 5th Friday
Singles Dance at Concord United Methodist Church, 8 to 11 pm. Featuring an eclectic mix of music for line dancing, ballroom, swing, and couples dances.
