Posted: 11/6/2005 2:08:58 AM | | well i am back here from kearney and all i have to say is that i really miss alabama. this place was okay growing up, but then i moved to bama when i was 15 and spent 4 years there. now that i have come back here, i am SO FREAKIN BORED!!!! | |

I also lived in Tulsa OK and that was a lot more fun than a lot of places too. but the most fun is had in Lincoln after a home game. | |

I live in a small town or use to.. one day in the chat room someone from Omaha said.. what in the world do you do in your little town has to be kinda boring.. I laughed and ask them what they did in Omaha after they got home from work.. how funny to hear them say.. mow the yard.. have a beer.. take a shower .. watch some tv.. visit with family.. blah blah.. quess what same thing we do in small towns.. lol | |

Posted: 12/7/2005 6:56:16 PM | | ok, i dont even want to know about the duct tape and plungers. to me that just spells out trouble. fun but trouble just the same. lol. i went to alabama for thanksgiving and i must tell u all that i really do miss it. it is so beautiful down there. i dont really much care for some of the people. but then u get those friends that are more loyal than any dog or pet and that are always there when u get in a jam and need some help getting out. those people may not have much down there. but get in the right crowd and those that have next to nothing, will give u the shirt off thier back and go without eating just to give u thier last 2 dollars to help u out. and that is more than i can say for most of the people that i know here in nebraska. that and it is so much warmer down there. its freezing here. its hard to stay warm. i will admit, i got spoiled down there. in winter we are lucky if just one snowflake sticks to the ground. here, we are lucky if we can see the road ahead of us in a storm. well gotta go lataz | |

Posted: 7/27/2006 8:08:43 PM | | 8ball,i agree-The rural life is much better.I have friends in Axtell(by Kearney)And Minden.Omaha IS more docile than other 'real' cities(omaha(haha)is a TOWN,trying to be a city.I just have to remember to not 'wave' at my fellow motorists in Omaha after returning from rural Nebraska lest they mistake it for a gang signal and start shooting! | |

Omaha has a heavy energy that feels stifling to me. Lacks some creativity. It's like going into work, being abused by your boss and coworkers, and then having someone ask you why you're unhappy living here. Something like that! I know the old line - if you don't like it, leave. | |

Posted: 6/30/2008 11:50:45 AM | | I have to admit, growing up here we always said there was nothing to do- so we sat on Dodge street and played frisbee or hackey sack everyweekend and all summer long- at some point( about 20 years ago) I outgrew that, but now realize there were many things to do in town, as there are now. I won't do a lot of them alone- or often, but there are many things to do- and I am kicking myself for not getting them done as each day passes. Some do cost money- but so does sitting at the bar- so what the heck! I haven't been to Joselyn for YEARS, like25 years at least, I tend to do things alone a lot, or with my son. I have a diverse group of friends as well- some from this site that I go out dancing with- and others that I do other things with. it's all in what you are looking for and how willing you are to find it. | |
