| ok whats life lke at 45 Posted: 5/29/2006 4:36:48 PM | Life truly gets better as we get older. I turned 50 this year, I look at my life as two books. I've already written the first book. The first book was filled with uncertainty, I felt like I had something to prove to the world, I worried about gaining acceptance. I put so much emphasis on "getting ahead" in the career world, I didn't have time to stop to smell the roses. I thought I could kick the ass of the world.
My second book is so much more exciting! This book will be filled with "Go For It"; "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn"; "WYSIWG"; "Inner Peace". It is because I know what I want in my life, I'm not afraid to ask, I don't take crap. I want to stop and smell the roses and put a few in my vase. I love freely, deeply. I want to have as many laugh lines as I can possibly get. Life isn't about how many candles are on my cake, but what can I share with others. My second book will reflect more of my passions for travel and learning about others and their cultures. This book will also show that I appreciate all of the experiences that I've gone through in my life. Last but not least, each and every one of us will have a story to share!

| ok whats life lke at 45 Posted: 5/29/2006 8:44:25 PM | Hey, I'm well past 45 and believe me, it only gets better. I am happier at this point in my life that I have ever been, I think I stated that in another thread, but its true. Its too damn bad that it took so long to realize I wasted a lot of precious time wishing for better times instead of making them happen. Enjoy and live each day as though it were your last. I heard that somewhere and loved it.

| ok whats life lke at 45 Posted: 9/29/2009 11:45:17 PM | I will be turning 45 tomarrow is there a chance for love after
I honestly can't believe I keep seeing threads with this type of topic.
Is there a chance for love after 45?
I there a chance for red hot romance after 5o.
What happens to women's libidos after 40?
blah, blah blah!
Wake up people! With the advances in modern medicine we are likely to live to be 90 or 100. I would sure hate to think that at the midpoint in my life my chances for love, romance, sex, relationship, happiness, whatever was gone because I reached midlife!
What a defeatist attitude we have. Your attitude determines what you get. What you want out of life and the goals you have for your future determine where you go. I want it all love, romance, sex, relationship, happiness and I am NOT going to settle for anything less.
You will get what you think you deserve. If you want something, make it happen. If someone chooses to be alone that is their choice. If someone wants love, and a significant other, then work at it. Be willing to walk over hot coals to get where you want to be. Get off your fanny and do something. All things are possible. Just steer clear of those with defeatist attitudes. Negative thinking will get in the way.
Every one of us controls our own destiny. As for me I choose love.

Thats because those just turning 45 aren't as experienced as some of us oldies and even though I have forgotten what life was like at 45, life at 57 on the other hand is pretty damn good.

| ok whats life lke at 45 Posted: 10/1/2009 10:06:42 AM | | Having recently turned 50, I've looked back at what has happened to me over the last five years and am still amazed. Some of the changes have been horrible and some have been fantastic. Five years ago I had a job I absolutely hated, my wife was going through a very long illness which ended up killing her and I was at wits end worrying about what might happen next. Since then, I've found a much better job, gotten back into some old hobbies, made some new friends and am less stressed than I've been in a very long time. I've found and really believe that with a positive attitude and a little patience, things can, will and do get better. | |

Hey...I had breakfast in Germany, lunch in Switzerland and dinner in France all on ONE day a few years ago.
Personal best: Dinner in NYC, breakfast in Paris, hellifIknow where lunch was, mid-night snack in Karachi, breakfast in Beijing. (About 26 hours as I recall.)
And on topic, only someone 44 could ask that question

How about breakfast in Sydney and breakfast in Vancouver on the same day, back in 76. International date line thingy. Can't really remember what life is like at 45, it's a memory thing.

| ok whats life lke at 45 Posted: 10/2/2009 2:52:26 PM | | OP: At YOUR age, if all goes well from here on out .....you'll get very sick and die. | |
|
| ok whats life lke at 45 Posted: 10/2/2009 2:56:04 PM | Wondering how the OP is doing 3 years 5-1/2 months after posting, should be about 48 years old about now.
When I was 45 my father had just died and I'd just gotten divorced. I was not a happy camper. 10 years later I'm doing OK and it's been ..... interesting. lol
vvvv Happy Friday FFS :)

| ok whats life lke at 45 Posted: 10/2/2009 5:43:13 PM | 45? I'm 50. I can't remember what I did yesterday let alone 5 years ago! And that's the best part; you don't look back 'cause you can't remember!
OK, only kidding. Even if the OP posted 3 years ago, the point is the same: each year is better than the last, even though I think it can't get any better!
|
| ok whats life lke at 45 Posted: 10/2/2009 6:09:42 PM | | Dang kids! Asking such foolish questions! What's life like at 45! As if I'm supposed to remember!! | |
|
| ok whats life lke at 45 Posted: 10/3/2009 9:35:08 PM | What's life like at 45! As if I'm supposed to remember!! There is no way I will ever forget. Worst years of my life....nothing else even comes close.
From 45 to 48, even to 50, were very tramatic years for me. My life was in almost complete upheavel. However, when things got so bad they could only get better, I turned them around and rose like a phoenix from the ashes, making my life at 51 and beyond better than it has ever been. That was a lesson learned about what to do in the face of adversity. I don't think being 45 needs to be bad at all, if everything else stays the same. But I was too busy fighting the furies to think much about being 45 or 46 and so on.
