i've thought about this one a lot....

well, my dog would either start barking to get someone's attention, or simply feast on my ample meat and have run of the house...

but i'm thinking probably three days, more because work would be hunting me down.

simple, I would never be found. I am the hermit in the mountain that everyone looks past and won't see.

I think needing a life is a waste of time so I might as well go back to my book.

I'm still around (although have been away from POF for quite a while). I developed a social life, got a girlfriend, etc, then got rid of the girlfriend (she became an alcoholic), got rid of the friends that were of bad morals, and that pretty much ended the social life... I am back to going to work and coming home to work on my house/sleep.

And for the guy hat thought I may be suicidal, (I started this post like 2 years ago) - No, I have not been suicidal, I simply think about a lot of things and the question popped into my head one day..

I think this same question all the time. I would say maybe 24-48 hours after my next shift started. They would call me, no answer, then they would call my bro and he would check 1 or 2 days later to see my corpse and maybe small pieces of my face eaten from my cat(yes they do that). But if I was on a 2-3 week vacation then I would be rotting in that time because no one calls me except telemarketers and no one visits me.

I only exist to work and to feed my cat, it's like i'm a ghost to the world.... always have been like this.

They found the last guy who died in my house (previous occupant) in three days. I think I'm more on the week and a half plan...

My dogs have that 'special place' they like to roll in the carpet...

If you died today, how long would it take you to notice?

Is this a trick question? do "I" know right away or do I not notice because I AM dead?

I think if it were night time then not til the morning when my youngest son got up, probably miffed because the dog peed on his bed because I didn't get up at 6 to let her out. If he were at a sleepover then not til after noon when my other son crawls out of bed and starts to wonder where I am if the vehicle is still in the driveway, my shoes are all there and the dogs are accounted for.
Otherwise probably within 30 minutes.
~brrrrrr chilling thought~

In a matter of hours at the most...there are several people that keep close tabs on me with everything going on and they know where I'm at, what I'm doing, and who I'm with at all times.

Geez, my friend, co-worker and fellow "fish" have talked about this! This conversation is an off-shoot of our debate as to who is the bigger loser. Anyway, if either of us died on a work day evening (Sunday to Thursday night), we have agreed to come to each others place and find the body before rot sets in. If the horizontal dirt-dance hits on a Friday night to Saturday night...well, it would take until Monday morning to be discovered. So, I figure 2 1/2 days at the most. It is good to have at least one friend in this world.

Not long. I have 2 kids in my house and my coworkers pick me up at my door so it'd be pretty quick.

Probably 5 or 10 mins, since I'm at work.

At home.. maybe an hour.. once I move into my own place.. could be weeks, but then like you mentioned.. work would hunt me down.

I would just lay there if in the house and welcome the stillness... until my guy started calling me. He would call and call and threaten things and wonder .... then he would find me, stiff as a board with a tear stain on my cheek 'cause I didn't get to say good bye.
Just donate my innerds, burn me and sprinkle me about the yard for the cats to play (or whatever...) in.
They always get the last laugh.

If I die at work, just prop me in the photo lab so it looks like I'm busy.
I can use the extra hours.

My dad has been dead for 29 years. We still get salesmen calling for him.

My Grandpa? - 46 years. I have fun when they ask for him.

There are alot of bill collectors who will mourn my death.

I guess that would depend on work.

If I was on my regular work week schedule (at the start) , probably two days.

On my four day weekend (every week ---- ) ....make that six days.

On vacation ? Add a week or two....depending on ambient temperature.

So...worst case scenario , on vacation in mid winter ?

Two to three weeks ....

The funny thing about it is that I live in an apartment owned by the father of a co-worker, who lives in the same block. The odds are pretty good he'd be the one discovering me, too.

Sometimes my sardonic sense of humour prompts me to remind him that he better do it properly, otherwise I'm coming back to haunt him until he dies.

When I was younger, such a thought of lying there dead for a while undiscovered would bother me greatly.

Then I suddenly realized " Hey, since I'm DEAD....it's no longer my problem...."

Actually I have thought about this as well.
My next door neighbor died, we were not friendly.
Actually spoke maybe three times in as many years.
She did not go out of the house very much, and worked from home.
Poor lady was dead for a whole week, before anybody even knew.
That is not only creepy, but also very sad.

My kids are grown and out of the house, sometimes it is a week before
we speak, even on the phone.
But luckily for me, my sisters and I e-mail everyday, so one of them would
come and investigate if I didnt respond to an e-mail or answer the phone.

But chances are someone from my job would come over and check too,
because I am not the type of person to not show up for work, without a
phone call. I always tell them if I am more than a half hour late, they better come
and make sure I am still alive. Or havent gotten into a car accident.

I havent been able to teach my dog to dial 9-11 yet.

It would take them a few days to find my body, in this bach pad. In terms of family, at home. Start missing calls, and people start to wonder.

Would take them a couple weeks if I was down in mexico, chilling. Maybe not, depends on the dive motel I am living in at the time. I would be more inclinded to rot away forever - unfound, in the jungle, on a mountain bike, in a ravine.

Miss work, take a day. But I am off for a month, and I work for a month.

Does it really matter if you are found, to lay the bod to rest 6 foot under?
Would put the family to rest, knowing how you died, when you died, etc. But to what extent? I mean, I go all over the place, and I dont think about this stuff. I do some crazy stuff at times. Do I think of my safety, nope! I just do what I want, when I want. I guess it all changes when you have kids or a girlfriend or wife. I know i'd straighten my posture kinda quick, if I even have a gf.

Depends on your lifestyle when you will be found.

Not too long to be found...I imagine - too many calls every day, and I try to not be in contact with people at all.

After that, when someone opens the Upon My Death envelope and get the digits to my safe to discover all the fine scotch, and 30 year old whiskey I have set aside for my funeral celebration, I imagine folk will be happy.

I always was a good and thoughtful host.

Cheers!

My boss would notice right away, beleive me. And my mom, as she calls me about four times a week just to say hi. My roommate would probably notice in a couple of days, when he realized I haven't made anything for dinner lately, or right away if the WOW servers are up and I'm not playing

If I died today. I would be found within 30 minutes of not calling someone when I got out of my next class. If I died my whole family of 100+ people would know before the night was over with. My friends would know becuase my family would call a couple to get the word going (it is something I have asked them to do if that ever happened). If I died today, I would die proud of who I am and the decisions I have made. I will have died never having had a real boyfriend or knowing what passionate love for someone else feels like. If I died today I would leave behind a lagacy of love and over-forgiveness. I would leave behind a good example for my younger sister and nephews who look up to me. I would die having never done drugs, smoked, or been drunk. I would die never having known what it was like to live by myself. I would die never feeling the joy of being a mother. I would die knowing that I am going to be with my Saviour in Heaven where all of the tears of my life will be wiped away. I wil have died knowing that I loved with all of my heart and soul. I will have died knowing that maybe I could have done better but under the circumstances did pretty well with the life that was chosen for me. If I died today, I would die a complete and happy individual who knows who she is.

People would at least start to wonder at around 3:30 tomorrow, when I hadn't shown up at 3 for Thanksgiving dinner.

Which makes me realize how much I have to be thankful for.

I live alone but I am friends with neighbors. I am visited one time each day. Probable answer is under 8 hour.

I run with friend every day, it is very odd if I do not call to cancel. She would attempt to contact me. So if neighbor do not visit, the answer is perhap one day.

Worst case is if I wish to be alone for entire weekend. I some time make this clear to people that I do not wish to leave my apartment. In this case perhap 3 day between die on Friday afternoon and people notice I was not in class for Monday.

Unless it is 4 day weekend.

Depressing question.
