Did anyone else see this? Gretchen Wilson performed 'Barracuda' with Alice in Chains, and it was AWESOME! I have heard the name Gretchen Wilson, but not being much of a country music fan, never heard any of her songs. God that woman can sing! At first I thought she was lip synching. She nailed it! I nearly fell off my sofa! So I guess that makes me an official Gretchen Wilson fan now
Back to the original topic. Ann Wilson gets my vote

| Female singers in hard rock/metal. Posted: 5/25/2007 6:19:59 PM | | Yeah, "The Right Stuff," Gretchen Wilson can indeed rock! I saw her with Ann and Nancy on another special a while back--Gretchen and Ann sang "Crazy On You" together and it was a super duet! Back to Ann--has anyone heard her Led Zeppelin renditions? She really blows me away! | |

| Female singers in hard rock/metal. Posted: 5/25/2007 10:39:01 PM | The singer from Jack off Jill is pretty good, if only they'd give her some better opportunities to actually sing though... I'd give my vote to Amy Lee from Evanesance, even though I hate to admit it. It's not metal, and hard rock at best. 'Hard pop' would be a better catagory most likely. But man o man does she have a *gorgeous* voice. | |

Doro Pesch (not sure on that spelling) of the band Warlock
Wow... I'm actually amazed there's somebody else out there who even knows who this is. I still have a couple of Warlock CDs actually.

Here are some that come to mind: Joan Jett, Suzi Quatro, Doro Pesch, Lita Ford, Roulette, Kim McAuliffe, Lee Aaron, Betsy ****, and Janet Gardner are just some that come to mind.

Grace Slick's - "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love" influenced Lee Aaron and a multitude of imitators but no true takers and conquorers. No one sings it like Grace!! Lee can't touch her. Grace was a gal with pipes, a POWERFUL belt and vocal range. If you can emulate her, you've got a recording contract.
As for Janis, the smoothiest / gravel blues/rock voice you ever heard which will rip your heart out!! Rock Men respected Grace and Janis as their voices were all balls and no fluff!!! I guarantee you will be very impressed!

| Female singers in hard rock/metal. Posted: 9/12/2007 10:19:56 AM | | Just heard that Holly Woods has a new album out called "Live It Up". I heard some tracks played on the radio and it sounds just like the old 80's style but way better than the old Toronto stuff. Not sure where you can find it, but I Google'd her and saw it was on iTunes and at HMVs. | |

Amy Lee from Evanescence is a great rock singer. How has nobody mentioned her, or did I miss it?

| Female singers in hard rock/metal. Posted: 9/13/2007 10:35:01 PM | THANK YOU ROCKNROLLIN!!! I was skimmin down thinking why has NO one mentioned SUZIE!!! Saw her on ROVE the other night and man she can still shake that arse....
I cant say that I would "talk up" alot of female singers as MOST of them nowadays are prissy wannabe girly girls.. and *shudders* yuck anyways straying from the point.. Suzie Quatro, Joan Jett for sure!! the late great Miss Joplin also had a voice that would have been in par with the rock ballad giants... Tia Carrere's efforts in Waynes World 1 and 2 were certainly applaudable... But then again who was listening to her VOICE? lol BUT Im yet to hear a girl whos voice can match James Hetfield's with such spine tingling gruffness (if there is such a word!!) I still cant crank Enter Sandman and listen without getting goosebumps *shivers and smiles*..
But *shrugs* Im a Zeppelin and KISS fan soooo I guess my taste is skewed by the fact I love listening to guys with girly sounding voices (Think - I was made for loving you... Think - Immigrant Song)
*sings away* don't mess me 'round, cause you know where I've been to 'The Diiiiiiiive' down in Devil Gate Drive.......
