| I know I will get blasted for this but... Posted: 10/21/2009 8:06:06 AM | Stretch?! Who said anything about stretch?! Relaxed fit is simply a little looser cut. But, please, feel free to continue with demonstrations of your ignorance of anything beneath your lofty station in life and high opinion of yourself. I mentioned it, didn't you read it? ...ummm yeah, men in stretch jeans, that is a real look.
My comment was about my bf wearing jeans and that I feel everyone looks the same when they wear them. You want to suggest that I am looking down my nose or have a high opinion of myself for feeling that people that wear blue jeans that cost more than other clothing is looking down my nose tells me that for some reason you have jealousy issues with me. I don't know why because based on the little I wrote, I clearly stated jeans cost more which would seem to make those wearing them perhaps have more money. I feel you are projecting your insecurities on me. Everyone is special and pointing out that you don't think I am shows what about you judging me?
I do believe everyone wearing jeans all the time is so boring. Everyone wanting to look the same is boring. I love to wear my stockings and dresses but prefer to look good but not stand out when I am with my hun. So unfortunately this means I don't wear them as often as I would like.
WindRoper if you wish to project some more inaccurate insults upon me because of your insecurities, go ahead. I really hope that it is somehow making you feel better as I can't imagine any other reason for your attacks.

| I know I will get blasted for this but... Posted: 10/21/2009 8:32:06 AM | Dressing like everyone else is boring.
Gee, I've been boring for far too many decades.... Since I became an adult, I've only worn dresses or skirts when a job required it, period. The rest of the time it's been jeans of one kind or another, usually Frisco Jeens - because that was what was available - or Levi 501's - again, because they were available. I don't like stockings, and I can't wear high heels because I've had an unstable knee since my mid 20s. Best I can do is clogs, which go equally well with skirts or pants.
Maybe, since I've been wearing the same old stuff for so long, it's all those others who are trying to look like me!
More seriously, it wouldn't make any difference where I lived, my tastes and preferences in clothing haven't changed in so long I can't remember that far back, I was just the same when I lived in a city. My mother and sister were the 'get dolled up' types, never me. I guess I was a natural born Redneck, and I won't apologize for it. I can clean up okay, though, when I have to. And my husband's idea of dressing up was to wear fancy boots with his jeans, and a sweater instead of a sweatshirt. Was just fine whenever we went dancing.

Well, I'd love to wear stilettos but I can't walk in them. Would still love to see you in them! lol (not to mention the fishnet stockings etc... uncomfortable? Yes. A knockout when a gorgeous woman wears 'em? You bet!)

| I know I will get blasted for this but... Posted: 10/21/2009 11:59:06 PM | | And it would be great if we ladies could find decent clothes in the stores, too...Seriously, its ridiculous what merchants have available these days-either teens and twenties stuff, retro-sixties and seventies-hippies/boho, or seriously frumpy polyester what-nots......When will they figure out not all the stylish/feminine ladies are Kennedys or Posts?? We do need affordable stylish clothing for ladies.... . | |

| I know I will get blasted for this but... Posted: 10/22/2009 3:21:50 AM | I would love to have more feminine clothes and shoes available to buy .
Undergarments are a joke. With tiny oftenpoorly attached straps, no bandeau to prevent riding up and minimal binding so panties will stay in place. Absolutely no customer service for fitting. Mixed fabrics that can't stand up to laundrying.
If you find a dress with any style at all you can almost guarantee it is way down the middle of my shins. Same with skirts.
Blouses are invariable cut so that if they fit you in the bust you have and extra yard around your waist and end up looking like you are wearing a grocery bag. I am not sure where they get their body demensions but arms are cut too tight or short, and necklines gap open. And the ugliest buttons . And shoddy construction over all. Seems not tied off, facings curling up, fabrics cut off grain, zippers that pucker, hems that fall out. and garments with belt loops but no belt.
The quality of fabrics are a joke. Who ever decided that stripes are supposed to go across rather than up and down must have been high. Half the time you buy anything plaid the seems are not matched. Dyes rub off or fade with one washing. Permanent press is more like permanently wrinkled. It is amazeing a buyer will buy one color line of tops and then buy clashing color line of bottoms.
Sorry heels are a joke. Even if you could tolerate the shift off of your center of gravity you have basiclly one width of shoe now days and the enterior structure of the shoe pinches, rubs your heel raw, and there is no instep padding. Even soles of shoes are so thin that you can't walk across gravel. The foot is not ment to be cooked in plastic all day. Finding stylish "flats" are a joke. Strange shaped heels make them difficult to walk on and many don't have and instep to keep the arch from sagging. Forget a wnter boot actually being water proof. Or shoes that are soil and stain resistent.
If you want quality made garments you have to be and accomplised seemstress or pay horrendouse prices and that doesn't even guarantee quality. Made in America hardly exists any more. If something falls apart you can pretty much figure they will not refund your money.

| I know I will get blasted for this but... Posted: 10/22/2009 5:09:14 AM | I own some stilettos. They are reserved strictly for bedroom use, as wearing them on the street would surely result in a twisted ankle. Those shoes would be flattering to just about any woman's legs.
I do agree that the clothing in the stores does not work well with all body types. So many of the patterns in the misses department make me think of an old gray haired lady. The pretty fabric seems to be reserved for the junior sizes. I wish some of that fabric was used to make clothing appropriate for someone out of their teens.
They do well with the juniors and the old women, and leave women in their 30s thru 60s with often bland and mediocre choices. This summer I was thrilled to see the return of dresses, both long and short, in a variety of styles. I bought a dozen dresses and really enjoyed dressing feminine all summer long.

| I know I will get blasted for this but... Posted: 10/22/2009 11:28:15 AM | You know, I kinda miss wearing them. When I got my divorce and had to move, I sold every dress, skirt, etc (except 2, wedding/funeral for winter/summer) that I owned. I work in a professional position, but pants are suitable and a lot more comfy, sometimes. But I think I'm going shopping and get me some of those fancy dress/skirts. I have the high heels. I'm tired of pants/capris/shorts all the time!
I'll update you guys, when I've done the shopping.

There's a reason Victoria's Secret has been so successful. Guys and girls both love the look of the pretty stuff. It makes us all feel good.

| I know I will get blasted for this but... Posted: 10/22/2009 11:24:41 PM | Funny ~~ if you asked ma hunny what he'd prefer me wearing, he'd say jeans and a sweater. Truth is, I tend to wear dresses to go out and about. And he's *never* asked me to change, lol! I'm *way* past wanting to do high heels of any variety, but my there are some gorgeous sandals out there. From about here till next March it's Uggs knockoffs. Ya, even with dresses. I think the secret to finding dresses is (1) keep looking and (2) when you find something gorgeous make sure it's something that will last -- is made well, and isn't "in" fashion: classics can be worn forever. . . .
And for those who mentioned ebay: *Great* hunting grounds. So's Sally.

| I know I will get blasted for this but... Posted: 10/23/2009 5:00:20 AM | | I can't find many dresses that fit me right....so I don't wear them. If I find them to fit they don't button up or they are to tight in the chest.......so jeans and Ts or sweaters are easier. Maybe a skirt....but finding a dress that fit would be heavenly. So I stick with what I can wear and I love blue jeans.....especially after you have had them and washed them for years to make them just ever so soft........ | |

| I know I will get blasted for this but... Posted: 10/23/2009 3:46:41 PM | I have so many dresses because my shape has been changed little since I was 18. When I dress up with my old ones, my friends would think I have bought some new ones... | |
