Posted: 5/14/2006 4:06:03 PM | I probably am too picky. Why not? I'm self sufficient, and not in a position to really need anyone else except for the social and emotional gratification. In the past, I've made mistakes by not being "picky" enough.
The worst feeling in the world, for me, is trying to figure out how to get rid of someone I don't want in my life. Ugh.
Lots of good people and good friends in the world. Some of them may even be here on POF. We'll see.

Right! I would rather someone was too picky and let me know I wasn't their type then they played along thinking perhaps I would change (with their help?). But I've been attracted to men that after a couple of dates became very ugly. I've always dated looking men. Have found looks only go so far, what is important is honesty, integerity, humor, since of love for family. I once had a date with a man, I asked what is daughters name is and his answer was "you" as in hey "you" don't do that, hey "you" come hear. He said when she doesn't listen he hits her, she is only a 4 year old baby. Then there was the guy who said to me "if I knew then what I know now I would have had myself fixed at the age of 10 years old. My f****** kids have given me nothing but grief in my life."
No way will I settle. Do I want to be married again, yes. I love the thought of waking up and falling a sleep with the man of my dreams. Sharing a life with that man for the rest of my life. | |

Height doesn't bother me either, a man or woman can't change that. What does bother me in selecting a mate is honesty. When I was in my 20's and not married, my mom told me I was too picky. Thinking about it, we never talked about men - what to look for in a good man, that kind of thing. All she wanted to know, I guess, was when I'm getting married so that she could have grandchildren. Too picky - I've heard that most of my life.
If she only knew what kinds of guys I've dated (many first & last dates), she probably would have said, you need to be more picky. I'm going to be picky, just wish I were also lucky. | |

And on her end... "He's just a little bit, a little bit, um, starting to lose his hair."
"He's BALD?????"
Meanwhile what gets lost is that these two people who can't even get A DATE are scrutinizing each other. It's DINNER! Go, enjoy, get over it.
Tell us again how MEN are shallow? I seem to have forgotten how that one goes....
Men all want Barbie? Men all want beauty before anything else? How does that go again?
