| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 5/26/2006 8:03:14 AM | I'd love to post a before and after pic of myself, like Merle Norman often did. Without makeup, with makeup. You'd be able to see my shiny red nose, uneven skin tone, spider veins, pale lashes and brows, etc. THEN tell me I shouldn't be wearing any makeup at my age or even the past 35 years that I have. I doubt that I would have ever been given a second glance by many men. The first one would have been enough to scare 'em off! And well, for the guys that prefer the "natural look", I suppose my makeup has scared some of them off too. Soooo... can't make all of the people happy all of the time, just myself, which counts MOST to me! | |

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Yes, a lot of guys in the sunbelt wear product that moisterises and sun protects! Some us wear make up because it is good for the skin and we look better! I happen to be real.
I wonder what your real issue is???

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 6/3/2006 10:08:38 PM | | Why would anyone watch a show that tells them what to wear?? Have we lost our minds? I am not trying to be rude but the idea that we need to hide our individuality and conform to...hmmm someone elses sense of who we should be..it just seems so..I'm searching for words. We all need to be ourselves. This is the over fortyfives forum where did the ideals of our youth go? Even the OP made some sense..Our mothers used to have a "dress code" and were slotted into society by how they dressed.. are we still in the fifties???? | |

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 7/9/2006 5:40:28 PM | Ditto! Ditto!! Scheherrazade.
I’d like to see any woman over 45 with that “natural” beauty just shining through. All those different colors of facial tones all over her face, especially if she has never worn makeup to protect her from the stuff in the air and the sun's rays. I’ve seen a few, but only for a minute. Could not stand much longer. There is no natural beauty unless possibly you are 16. You’re fooling yourself if you believe otherwise. Makeup is an art, but unfortunately many women don't learn that art nor have anyone to teach them.

Posted: 7/9/2006 8:33:48 PM | Oh well..I am 54, learned to put make up since i was a girl....actually i dress and look like 45, so make up just helps a lot too..... and until now all men i have met, (at job, social, church, etc.) have expressed they like woman who make up face, do hair, do manicure, pedicure and smells good!

Don't wear make up then, just leave the rest of us to do as we please. How you feel about the enjoyment I get from my tastefully applied make up is of no interest me.
Getting this worked up about something so unimportant, and not really any concern of yours, suggests that you need to get a life.
or if you don't like the way I look look the other way and that goes for the blokes as well!

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 7/9/2006 11:47:38 PM | | A real eye opener for a guy, who has always wondered as to WHY women go to such trouble to wear that stuff. Personaly, I prefer women don't wear any. I want the real woman, and I'm going to wake up to her with out make up any way. BUT, if a woman feels better about her self with a touch here and there, who am I to judge? If it makes you feel good, go for it. It's not just a North/South American/European trait, Middle Eastern women wear make up under those burkas. And as another poster pointed out, make up has been around since pre Roman times. Last year, a tin box of lead based Roman makeup was excavated in England. As Sheryl Crowe sings, "if it makes you happy, it can't be that bad". | |

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 7/10/2006 4:59:57 AM | I have never worn a lot of make up, just enough to cover things such as a small birth mark, and to keep the area around my eyes from seeming so dark.
I really don't think anyone of any age looks good with a ton of makeup. The idea of makeup isn't to look made up, but to play down certain things, and to bring out your best features. I feel that if you use it right, no one will be able to look at you and tell you have it on. I use natural colors instead of those that do not naturaly show up on human skin such as blue and green.
As to the face lift thing, I haven't had one yet, but that isn't saying I will never have one. It seems to depend on who does it. A good surgeon seems to be able to do wonders with a persons looks. Some of my mother's friends had them over the years. Some looked as you described, others ended up looking very nice and one looked younger and better than her kids after it.
As a whole, we are living longer and healthier lives, so why not look good as long as we can?

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 7/10/2006 7:01:33 AM | Ochun...I saw that advertised and I even went to the website to check it out. I have always worn Estee Lauder because with my acne scars and potholes, I needed some coverage. I guess I'm too skeptical of all the stuff you see advertised and I didn't order the Lauren Hutton makeup; glad to hear that you like it and maybe I'll go back for another look !
I don't like the Tammy Faye look either, but it's hard enough to find a decent date when I've got the potholes filled in; I can only imagine what it would be like if I left them gaping !

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 7/10/2006 3:57:21 PM | | Protection for your face is the best thing whether it is lotion or makeup which protects you from the sun's rays. Makeup and more important skin care products are better especially today because they have many ingredients in them to re-hydrate your skin. The higher-priced products are better because they use a better refined petroleum-based product, but anything is better than nothing. The higher-refined petroleum products penetrate your skin's pores more easily; and yes it's the processing that costs more. Ever see a wealthy woman who has not had a face lift; she always looks younger than her age due to the products she uses. Just a word from someone who has studied it for a long time, pretty much because it's a sideline business and it does not (absolutely) begin with the letters M K. Bought that stuff once and ended up using it for body lotion. About all it was good for!!! | |

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 9/23/2006 2:02:09 PM | I recently had a man tell me (online) he does not like too much makeup on a woman, cuz he wants to know what she'd look like when he wakes up next to him in the morning...I agree w/ him in that it should be an ENHANCEMENT rather than a MASK...but to each his own! | |

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 9/23/2006 3:40:25 PM | I wear makeup for me, not to please someone else, or to try and "pretend to be someone I am not" and I am very real. There are so many very important issues to be worrying about then if a lady over 40 is wearing too much makeup. I for one will continue to use all my cosmetics as long as I feel good about wearing them.
now that's my 2 cents.

1. No make up plane jane. no turning heads 2. Lady with make-up she turns heads.
I turn heads more with make up on and so do most women. proven

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 9/23/2006 4:24:34 PM | | Many of those who are against makeup don't seem to take a good look at themselves. As you get older, the color comes out of your face and lips, the eyes shrink a bit, or have hoods over them and crevices appear above the top lip. Not to mention the 'jowels' thing. So I think that if it makes you feel better, and brightens you up a bit, then go for it. But don't overdo it. Makeup doesn't look the same on your skin as it once did, and more doesn't make it better. That's my two cents worth. | |

| Women that wear too much makeup at our age.... Posted: 9/24/2006 9:36:57 AM | Passing judgement on someone just because they choose to wear makeup is not very cool. Its a personal choice. You feel pretty without makeup....perhaps are more "earthy". Just as she feels pretty wearing makeup. Whats the big deal??? Seems to be a waste of time putting hate on someone just because they are different from you. Why would this woman intimidate you?
