| Should men color the gray Posted: 2/13/2009 9:13:21 PM | | Sum, where are these financially secure older men? I meet a lot of 50 somethings who have not planned for retirement, don't think about the future and want to get to know you as quickly as possible so you can skip the dates and hang out at their houses watching rented movies and take out. PLEASE! One guy even met me on First Friday (the art walks) and said he likes to go on dates this way so the wine, cheese and crackers are free from the galleries! Another time I met a guy who was living in his ex wife's garage (yes I said GARAGE) because he had cashed in his retirement account moved to florida for some young chick and she kicked him out as soon as the money was gone! | |

There's plenty of time to go grey when you're 70. Unless you have pretty white hair I say color it

| Should men color the gray Posted: 2/24/2009 2:59:45 PM | | Men should do what they want with their hair. Some women find gray attractive, some don't. If you do it to please women, you'll still be striking out about half the time. Do it to please yourself and your confidence might just attractive some women who wouldn't otherwise find you that attractive. | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 2/24/2009 4:36:13 PM | | Mine is a completely biased opinion: it seems normal to me for women to color their hair to hide the gray; this is a cultural attitude. When a man goes gray it looks fine, and if he colors it, it looks unnatural. For women, coloring hair, wearing makeup, jewelry, complicated fashion, all seem quite natural, as long as not over the top. But for men, being natually gray seems appropriate and manly....coloring his hair is like wearing makeup, not what a man should do and a turn off for me. Not fair, I suppose, and a perspective purely based on cultural attitudes. | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 2/25/2009 11:17:39 AM | Tried it once about 10 years ago...not a pretty picture! I freaked!
I keep my hair too short, so I would be touching up every 2 weeks or so. Im just not that concerned about it... Thanks Mom!

| Should men color the gray Posted: 2/25/2009 11:43:19 AM | | Doubt if I'll ever color my gray...I get too many compliments on it. Women seem to like my salt & pepper, so as far as I'm concerned...that's a good thing. | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 2/25/2009 2:22:02 PM | I have seen some very attractive men with gray hair...I think it just depends on the person and whether or not they like it..
I worked for a very attractive Italian man who colored his hair professionally...I thought he looked great with the gray but I have a feeling he associated it with getting old..
Anyway, one day I do not know what in world was going on with him. He walked into the office with his eyebrows dyed black. He looked like a puppet...OMG us gals were so paranoid that he would catch us staring at his caterpillars that we would be canned on the spot lol..
The happy ending to the story is he never colored those eyebrows again and our jobs were safe

| Should men color the gray Posted: 2/28/2009 4:43:11 PM | When you colour your hair, don't you get that racing stripe down the middle of centre-parted hair after a few weeks ?? Sounds like a lot of work to deal with that every month for the rest of your years on the planet. I'll just keep mine like it comes in naturally, thanx.

| Should men color the gray Posted: 2/28/2009 4:52:37 PM | As a Hairstylist, Don...there are different types of color out there that do not cause the so called racing stripe you are referring to (roots).
Semi-permanent hair colors do not stay permanent but fade out with washings, about 4-6 wks...there are also rinses that just stain the hair temporarily.
But...for me, I don't think there is anything more distinguishing or sexy than Grey hair on a Man...now Grey hair on most Women is another thing!

| Should men color the gray Posted: 3/1/2009 5:08:31 AM | | I just don't get it!! Why are Women expected, encouraged to dye their greying hair whereas Men can claim it's sexy/distinguished - yes I do dye my hair but not for any man but for me and my employment in the Hospitality Industry | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 3/1/2009 5:40:22 AM | That salt & pepper look is smoking hot. Men are lucky they look so handsome as they get older. The lines and creases enhance their maleness and desirability. (To some of us any way) The years can be so much kinder to them.

| Should men color the gray Posted: 3/1/2009 12:44:49 PM | Are you kidding? I worked hard for every gray hair on my old parrothead! No way I am coloring it. | |
|
| Should men color the gray Posted: 3/2/2009 7:18:29 PM | | I'm glad to see so many ladies in favor of a man's natural condition. I'm happy with who I am, and that means salt and pepper now, probably all gray in 10 years. Bob | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 3/3/2009 7:23:01 PM | yes r, but you are cute with gray hair. some men are not!!! same for us women.
ps they do this thing for men that gives it a salt and pepper appearance and looks natural. some people are paler than others and need some "color". i find it odd, that the same is not marketed to women! hey, whatever rocks your boat, no right or wrong answer!
