| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/13/2008 7:31:51 AM | When I head off to the RockStore on a Sunday morning I usually see some old duffer who uses the "rattle can" hair dye. I'd heard of this stuff & always thought it was a joke until I saw it in person. Not only does it color his hair, it also colors his scalp & he can't "color within the lines" because he has about a half inch of almost black skin after his hairline ends...looks like he used a paint roller to apply it.... It also flakes off in lumps leaving a patchwork quilt of white skin & almost black dye.... You can see this crap from 20ft away.... First time I saw it I literally burst out laughing.. | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/27/2008 7:45:38 AM | | I believe a man with gray hair is incredibly sexy. What is the saying, "There might be snow on the roof, but there is a fire in the furnace." | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/27/2008 8:41:06 AM | some of the women at my church recently had a "party" where the got together and put hilites in their hair. i told them i did not have to put in any hilites because god already did it for me, silver hilites the quickly graying old parrothead | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/27/2008 3:18:21 PM | I think a man should be able to do whatever they want to with their hair. However, what first attracts me, at my age, is grey hair or bald.....that's just my opinion, but it's even in my profile.
Maeflowers is right.....Mother Nature is messing with us. She made the men get more handsome and distinguished looking naturally, as they age, but us women need to work to keep from looking like dried up old hags.....it isn't fair. (Of course I'm not speaking for all women, but it is certainly the case with me!)

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/27/2008 3:45:10 PM | | Well, I don't care in theory whether a guy dyes his hair or not. But I've seen awful dye jobs on men. I think when they just dye their hair totally black or too yellow blonde - it looks bad. | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/27/2008 3:57:10 PM | Normally I have a goatee and it has A LOT of gray in it. I've thought about coloring it, but really I just think that would be false advertising. I am happy with my age and I like the gray most of the time.
Plus it reminds me of some of the older males who worked in the front office at a former employer. They all dyed their hair and tried to present a younger look as a help for job security. In reality they just looked like a bunch of old dudes with bright hair and low self esteem.

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/27/2008 8:20:59 PM | ^^^^ The cute guy above me is a great example of why men should NOT colour the gray!! Leave it gray !
(Couldn't plod through 8 pages about this ... sorry! )

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/27/2008 8:38:09 PM | | no,,most times that I seen it done ,it looked phoney on men. Made them look insecure about themselfs..same as guys with wigs or combovers...let it go guys..its not your eyesight..not your hearing..its JUST hair....trust me ..no one cares about your hair except you.. | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/28/2008 5:46:44 AM | | I think it subtracts from a man's confidence level. I always think it looks a little pitiful for a man to color his hair after a certain age. Now why it seems ok to me for women to do it I have no idea! When I look at a man I want to see him, not who he wants to be. Anyway, my question is this.....most older men want younger women so maybe they think that will help their cause?....I better go before I offend someone! | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/28/2008 8:31:19 AM | | I would never ever color my hair....I find that most women find it attractive.....so "if it ain't broke...don't fix it"!lol | |
|
| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/28/2008 10:44:26 AM | It depends. Just don't make it look like you color your hair. It needs to look natural. Same for women. It's a personal decision. | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/28/2008 4:53:57 PM | | No, it is all part of the self esteem component of a man..my hair is turning grey and I get compliments | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/28/2008 5:00:44 PM | | I used to dye mine but have let it go back to gray now. A tip for those that want to dye the gray away is to use a color a shade or two lighter than your hair used to be if you had dark hair. A older man with real dark hair looks weird, lol. I hope to find someone I find attractive and loving that likes me the way I am. | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/28/2008 5:14:54 PM | Really a double standard. Men who go gray are distinguished, and women are OLD. LOL
It doesn't matter to me if a man dyes their hair not, or if they have hair, as long as they are breathing..
It is the same with a woman I would guess in these days, just a choice. If you want to, go for it, if not don't. JMO

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/28/2008 5:24:11 PM | I get my hair cut and colored every 3 weeks at a salon across from the Galleria. Every time I go, there are several men there getting their hair colored. I think that people should do what they are comfortable with. I do belive that coloring hair should be placed in the hands of a true professional. Getting coverage on grey is no easy task and only a licensed stylist would know the secret formula to use. The trick to it looking natural is in it being done by an expert colorist. | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/29/2008 3:09:44 PM | | I'm with sistermary, gray hair is really appealing on a man, not sure why but it just is, look at George Clooney! Now not having hair ,that is a bit of a problem, but, a beautiful full head of hair, great! | |

| Should men color the gray Posted: 6/29/2008 4:11:55 PM | gerrysuper ....no, you get compliments? You're gorgeous, you should get compliments.!! Another gentleman that posted here used to color his hair, and it looked nice, he did a good job. Welll....he let the color grow out and cut it short...... one word .... HOT! His pic on here does not do him justice. [but all the other stuff holds true.... so don't go thinking I'm after you] | |

Please don't do it. I only had men with white and grey hair.
OMG, you been dating grandfatherly men from the time you were young?
So maybe you should try a man with different color?????

^...........no need for a new thread....its because what you describe is an illusion...that is, from a woman's perspective..........what women really find attractive is the SECURITY that an older man brings to the table.....they are generally accomplished and established, and don't need to worry about how the next bunch of bills are gonna get paid.....this fosters a sense of well being for a woman that translates into a feeling of attraction!
Good grief!! Really??
Do you think it's really the SECURITY or the patronizing chauvanism that attracts them?
Hang on- what year is it? Oh....2008! Too funny
