And I see we are giving credit to T&T now....Costa Rica scored a couple goals on mighty Germany...Mexico is always good...and the Czech Rep. game aside the USA is improving. Yes England has an easy group but we're 2-0. This is the World Cup and you can't put games aside. The Czechs put on a clinic against the US, I wouldn't put that aside if I were American, I would be pissed off at my team. I'm Canadian so I know all about Concacaf, it isn't that tough for a country of 350 million to beat up on Canada and Caribbean nations. Try posting without saying could, would, should of if. You do have a right to bash us but it doesn't look good when your team can't score a goal. I want the states to beat Italy, but I'll defend my team as well. | |

They are playing like a bunch of cnuts at the moment, but now Rooney is back, I think we will start to gel and begin to look like the force we've been hyped up to be
Still - after 2 games we have 6 points.. performances aside, you can't really ask for more on that front..
Look at the Ivory Coast - they have played like lions, but have taken two bullets to the head and survive now only as a couple of pelts in the trophy rooms of the dutch and argentines | |

You cannot base anything on a couple of games
The thing with the world cup is that if you can stay in it, then anything can happen. You are only as good as the game you play in..
Which is why I was not totally pessimistic about the US v Italy.. and I am not thinking hari kari with regards to England

i have a question 4 u sum1reel, do u even know the england team, and can u please tell me where u think our side is weak,
and in reference 2 ur earlier comment about how much mr eriksson is paid, ur usa stars, not proper football stars but ur american football stars and baseball stars would u like 2 look at how much they earn,
i concede we r not the favourites and things need 2 improve, but we r more than capable of winning the competition whether u like it or not | |

the point is ur group aint rock hard is it.
Italy have not got a star studded team, and r lacking in certain aspects, the Czech Rep showed how uncoordinated they can b against Ghana, and they have a good backbone but r not as good as paraguay or sweden
from our first 2 games we got maximum points, chelsea showed in the premier league u dont need 2 play great football always, but getting the right result is what counts
look at the ivory coast, good performances against Argentina and Holland but r still going home | |

I still maintain England each Cup has premiere talent and underachieves. You can belittle other squads and say"we got the results we needed" but you and I both know that if they do not perform better in the round of 16 they will go home.
And you know Ivory Coast was in the toughest group. Hell England might've gotten sent home playing in that group. Supporting your team is fine. But others on this page felt compelled to trumpet their prediction about England winning the Cup. Come on an international forum site and post that....people will respond....don't like people challenging your opinion...don't post. | |

Posted: 6/20/2006 4:22:53 PM | Well, if you saw England play Sweden today (June 20), then you may have noticed the shaky defence. I was surprised that someone could score a goal from a throw in. It landed right in the keepers box! I haven't seen a play like that in Pro soccer in a very long time.

^........i can't say that i know a great deal about them, but i can tell you that the team is made up of fairly good (individual)players who haven't learned (or can't) play efficiently as one unit!................where are they weak you ask?............well, why don't you look back on all 3 games that england just played!........they've gotten high marks for having prolific goal scorers but there was very little in the way of scoring (against marginal teams!)......the defense was mediocre (at best) and disorganized (at worse), and they are just lucky that they didn't play against any high powered offensive teams!

^.........what does the salary of a player (in any of the sports you named) have to do with what a coach/manager is paid???.......what a player earns is ONE thing and what the coach gets is another!........everyone knows that sven was paid a good amount of money for the job.......so the question you'll have to ask yourself is: was he worth it!......we'll see at the end of the WC.

No matter what he does is never good enough, Ive heard all the nonsense about highly paid sportsmen and how they should be able to deal with the press no matter what.
Thats crap! No matter how much you are paid it has to weigh on your mind that back home the knives are being sharpened if you dont perform, It just adds pressure.
Other nations who dont have a vermin infestation within their media can go out and attack without worrying what will happen to them if they lose or dont beat a "lesser team" by enough goals.
As much as I dislike Alex Ferguson, I think he has the right idea, the players should just refuse to give press conferences, a media blackout as much as possible. Oh how they would crawl back on their knees. | |
