| Horrible Commercials...bad but I like em Posted: 7/4/2008 10:02:01 PM | I don't like the male enhancement commercial either
Another one that's annoying is where the guy's holding a remote and says "You can recordificate''
Whenever they show the little kid at the bank who keeps putting things through the drive through shoot I change the channel quick
And the Lowe's commercial where the guy is opening and closing the door and it says ''Paint me'' in a squeeky voice

Coincidentally, I recently saw on the news that Toyota is the only car manufacturer around here that hasn't reported a drop in sales. Boy, that potential-matic really saved their ass.

| Horrible Commercials... Posted: 7/5/2008 1:39:07 AM | | I don't know about countries elsewhere, but here where I live, Burger King has recently been showing these commercials that feature women in bikinis and use them to tie in with whatever products they're advertising. For example, the one I can remember was advertising that triple meat burger, and featured triplets in short skirts and bikinis riding horses... Because of this they've been under a bit of heat from the public for obvious reasons. Personally I don't see how fast food can be related to hot women in any way. Furthermore its just slightly disturbing for a straight women to have to see scantily clad women frolicking on a beach while eating a burger, at least 3 times a night. But hey, at the end of the day, sex sells right? And besides, I don't eat BK foods anyway. | |

| Horrible Commercials... Posted: 7/5/2008 1:50:09 AM | nzchick120, it's funny but when a commercial with women all hanging out and sweating comes on, and I am watching television with a woman, I often wonder what they are thinking about that commercial.
I know if sweaty half naked men were on a commercial, I'd be rolling my eyes in contempt. Although a part of me believes she would jump up and start caressing the tv. lmao

| Horrible Commercials... Posted: 7/5/2008 2:23:39 AM | haha, I like to think I have more restraint than that. Although I'll admit if I do see one who is attractive, I might be prone to fantasising about him/them... When I watch women in bikini in adverts (and there does seem to be more and more ads featuring skimpily clad women) I just roll my eyes and think "what has the world come to? Has the media become THIS desperate?!" So far I'm still yet to see ads where the half naked men appeal to me... | |

| Horrible Commercials...bad but I like em Posted: 7/5/2008 8:34:28 AM | Shrill noises of all kinds hurt my ears. I just can't stand whistling or pan pipes that are supposed to sound like whistling in commercials. The most annoying shrill noise as of late is the hardware store commercial where the house squeals "paint me".
Also hate commercials that show me pics of dirty bathrooms and/or commodes. (Always seem to air around dinner times).
I always mute my TV or flip the channel the second the looooooong string of commercials start -- better do it BEFORE I am pi**ed off than after!

| Horrible Commercials...bad but I like em Posted: 7/5/2008 9:29:09 AM | Why annoying commercials are supposed to make us buy something is beyond me. The one where the guy starts to talk at the same times as a jackhammer goes off gets muted every time. Imagine the ad execs pitching that one to their customer, then imagine their customer saying, "Great idea!". Time for someone to retire.

| Horrible Commercials... Posted: 7/5/2008 9:34:04 AM | I have to agree about the local commercials.
Does anyone in Pittsburgh remember the Pittsburgh Diesel Institute Commercial that ran for years in the late 80s through mid 90s?
Its a cheesy commercial of two friends talking in a bar. My friends in high school used to act it out all the time.
I don't remember it word for word as I haven't seen it years but it was something like the following.
Guy 1: Hey what's up? Guy 2: What's up is I finally got a career for myself. See that big rig out there I'm driving it. Guy 1: (walking outside) Hey where'd you learn to drive this big rig? Guy 2: (getting in truck) Pittsburgh Diesel Institute. When I graduated, they helped me land this job. Its good pay and I get to see the country. Guy 1: Where can I contact this Pittsburgh . . . eh . . . Guy 2: (looking out truck window) Pittsburgh Diesel Institute. They're in the book, give them a call.
If anyone can find it online, please post it

| Horrible Commercials...bad but I like em Posted: 7/5/2008 9:34:32 AM | evnstevn, I actually like that commercial. Only for the reaction the guy gives after the 3rd or 4th interruption. Where he puts his hands up and asks 'really?', as though he is asking for confirmation on this cosmic joke . I thought it was smirk worthy. | |

Why annoying commercials are supposed to make us buy something is beyond me. And yet, you're discussing their products with thousands (well, hundreds, anyway) of complete strangers.
I'd say they're working quite well. Everyone who reads this thread now has those little annoying commercials running through their heads...
What ad agency did you say OP works for?

| Horrible Commercials...bad but I like em Posted: 7/5/2008 1:03:22 PM | I have no clue who does the commercial where the guy starts talking just as the jackhammer goes off. So I would only buy whatever they're selling by mistake.

| Horrible Commercials... Posted: 7/5/2008 3:20:34 PM | | There used to be a commercial here for Cravendale milk...the cows want it back..I found that quite disturbing and to this day refuse to buy that particular brand. (I mean, milk's milk surely?) | |

| Horrible Commercials... Posted: 7/5/2008 7:17:51 PM | My favorite horrible commerical is the diet commercial where the skinny woman says after she had her baby she was a whopping size 12!! Now, she's back to a size 2. Oh my goodness a size 12...she must have been horrified! Give me a break!
My next favorite is a woman wiping her kitchen counter and refrigerator with a chicken quarter! I almost puke everytime I see that! I have no idea what she's selling...I have to look away!

| Horrible Commercials... Posted: 7/5/2008 11:16:44 PM | | I can't stand commercials, they insult my intelligence. If I want something, I will look for it on my own. For every hour of T.V. you watch, 15 minutes are commercials. What a waste of time! When is someone going to invent a device that blocks ads on T.V. like a pop up blocker does for the computer? | |
