I can be both

I like to sleep in and I don't have a problem getting up early even @4:30am !
basically if i have something to do or a reason to get up early I will with no complaint .

but i like to sleep in when possible.

I am the same as you ATV. I prefer to sleep in, but I get up regularly for work at 5 frigging 30. I might grumble a little more than you, though. It takes a while for all the neurons to start firing in my brain - like hours, but I go with the flow.

This is going to sound really sick to some...but I like to get up early (5:15) and go running. It gets my day off to a really good start and I find that I have more energy for the day if I work out early like that. I have to do a lot of sitting for work so it seems to create a balance. If I wait 'til the end of the day, I don't tend to do it as there are too many other things going on by then. I have to get to bed early though.

^ Yeap, I have done that, too. I used to like running in the morning, but I think I am shifting into more of an evening person. I have no idea why.

I was having a conversation with a naturapath about how I need my morning coffee to wake up. He told me that "it sounds like your adrenal glands are worn out."

...I ended up kicking him in the adrenal glands so we had something in common.

I am so definitely not a morning person...you would think the people that live in my house would learn as quick as my kids that no one talks to me before I have my first cup of coffee in hand.
if you are very lucky the only response you will get is a grunt if not....well watch out I am not a happy camper

With me its the opposite. I have a fairly physical job. So through the week I get up early so I have a chance to have my coffee and read the paper.
And I'm never late for work.
Just guess that spilled over to my weekends.

Since I have an afternoon job I can sleep in some mornings OP. I am usally a morning person. After I have my shower then when I get to work, if I get a chance I get the coffee. I am not a heavy coffee drinker X, but I know when I don't have any caffeine for awhile I can feel it. Just one or two cups and I am fine. That's where the diet pop comes in.

Alternative health practicioners love to talk about Adrenal Gland Fatigue, which may or may not be a problem. If you are a coffee drinker - as I am - it is perfectly normal to need a cup of rocket fuel to wake up. The entire problem with the Adrenal Gland Fatigue thing is I am not sure there is a really good way of treating it which doesn't involve spending a lot of money on vitamins and other snake oils which probably won't cure it.

Yeah I'm not a morning person at all. On weekends I like to stay up later and then don't usually get up til around nine or so...but it does't really matter if I get up earlier or later cause I have a hard time getting my but in gear before noon. But if I have something that I have to be at in the am, it sure does feel good to get up early and start the day young...I am usually more productive then. During the week I usually don't get up until the very last moment that I have to for getting ready for work, which means I am slightly late quite a bit. I have to drop off my son at school first as well...so that doesn't help and I really try to get every last second I can for sleeping but I know I should get up earlier. The curse of being a night owl. I always was when I was very little and my son is exactly like me. I do think though that part of it is habit. I keep thinking that every night I should go to bed sooner and try and reprogram my internal clock...maybe one day I will?!

I used to live in Victoria, British Columbia many years ago. I am a morning or night time person. I will go for walks or run early morning before everyone and the traffic is out. I have found that in BC, dinnertime would be at about 6 or 7 pm , if I recall, where I live now, supper time is usually 5 or 6 pm, for alot of people.
At night I like to go out, if I am bored at home..

Depending on the weather I will be in more of a mood to go certain places.

My brother is staying up in BC right now, I wonder if he finds the time change different and what he is doing daily compared to where he lived before ?..

I hope to get up to BC again, it would be great to visit..

While I'm a night owl, in summer I tend to wake up early. I make up the difference with naps.

The sun sets quite late here in Victoria; by midsummer the sky doesn't get fully dark until almost 11, which may be why people eat later - the afternoon and evening seem to stretch on and on.

I remember that, in Victoria, when it didn't get dark till quite late..In Nova Scotia, it gets dark after 7 pm, sometimes earlier, depending on the season.
I've been in NS too long, I definitely need to travel, and see other places.

OUCH! When my alarm clock went off at 5:30 today, it was so painful. I am still traumatized and shaken. No one should have to go through that! And to think, I will have to do it all again tomorrow.

I used to be such a night owl. Clubbing till they kicked us out and then on to the after-parties till sunrise and beyond. These days I'm headed for bed by 9pm and up at sunrise. The only variation is in winter when I tend to sleep in later because it's so freakin' dark out. All that said I like my sleep schedule the way it is now.

That's all assuming we are talking about sleeping here. If it's something else we're all talking about it's definitely mornings/afternoons for me. I've got way more energy then vs late at night.....

Peace,
Scott

If I'm awake before 11 a.m. someone is going to be mighty sore.

My circadian rhythm is and has always been that of a night owl. Bed by 2 a.m., up by 11-11:30 a.m. I am not a pretty sight, looks or attitude-wise, before 11 a.m. Even 11:30 is sometimes too early for me.

You betcha!

Love being up early in the summertime and sitting on the patio with a coffee. All is quiet except for the birds. Great time to go horse riding too, it's so peaceful...

Morning? Qu'est que c'est? i.e. What the heck is that?
Morning? Never heard of it & don't want to hear about it.
Morning? That's the time I'm squeezing in all the I can get.
Morning? Isn't that something that only farm animals indulge in?

I used to get up for work at 7am, I wasn't very happy with that. Now I work evening shift, and it suits me perfectly. I love reading a book or watching a movie into the wee hours. I also like going for walks at night with headphones on, but I don't do that anymore, not really the safest thing to be doing in this day and age. Actually that reminds me and I miss it. But oh well.

But nighttime is when I am most 'alive' so to speak, I have a lot of creativity at night and writing songs and stuff like that comes so easy.

I have wondered about this before, if the time of your birth has anything to do with whether you are a day or night person. I was born at 2pm and so that was when my day (and life) 'started'. Probably a silly idea but fun to think about.
