| dealing with being insulted Posted: 7/10/2009 7:35:12 PM | | I've got one guy that used to be at the facility I worked at that would either want to hang out and joke with you, or cuss you like no tomorrow. One day I'm taking him back to his building and he's steady cussing me, and a couple of other officers are nearby watching. I had them laughing when I told the guy that was cussing me "You already said that, now go back to your building" (him cussing me some more) me: "I know, you just told me that. Go back to your building". He was getting worse and worse, and I'd just shrug it off as he got madder and madder. | |

Voltaire: I think that Dubois is a most intelligent, interesting person to get to know. Genteman: Oh really, he speaks less well of you! Voltaire: Oh, perhaps then we are both mistaken.

| dealing with being insulted Posted: 7/11/2009 1:19:37 AM | I chose to use Cassius Clay's given name because I am a unique and unorthodox person. If there is a non-standard path that leads to the same end, I will take it. Any other supposition of why I chose to use the name his mother and father used, which has historical significance, when they brought him into the world, is just that--supposition and stabs in the dark at a prejudice that isn't there. His conversion to Islam is unimportant to me. His draft-dodging does not and did not have any effect on me. Further more, Obama and his nationality remain unimportant in my book. I care more for his policies and beliefs than I do for the color of his skin. He could be lilly white WASP for all I care. I would still dislike him just the same.
Online, I love to play the insult game if someone starts it, however, in person. I steadfastly refuse. If someone begins to run their mouth I wait until they pause and just ask them if they intend to do anything about it. If not, I have nothing more to contribute. If so, then the best combatant will win and everyone's curiosity will be satisfied.

| dealing with being insulted Posted: 7/13/2009 5:25:00 PM | If someone is insulting you they are either having a bad day and using you as a target or they are truly jealous..feeling insecure and to boost their own self-esteem they feel the need to cut you down. Do not stoop to their level... consider the source .. Sometimes I will say "I'm so sorry you are having such a bad day." and then move along quickly before they have another chance to respond. | |
