peace of mind and serenity...
a good relationship with my creator...... my soul intact....
a healthy soul... and mind..
that is the basis...............
next would be a healthy body.
without that as a basis.. would be hard to have much more....
and nothing else would really matter. | |

But my 3 girls and 1 boy - my children - are the ones that actually keep me sane and are the most important things in my life. They make me feel all the emotions that I learn lessons from. They make me laugh till my stomach hurts, they make me cry to the point I don't think there are any more tears, they question my integrity and honesty, they make me NOT run away from my problems but stand tall in front of them, they make me strong when I am at my weakest, they break my heart and then turn around and mend it all over again and again. My children are the joys of my world. | |

Posted: 7/6/2006 8:46:58 AM | I hear ya. Thing is, it's joyful to feel centered in ones own life; to feel a sense of control. Then, of course, health, happiness, being loved, loving, children... all are vital and important.
During those times when life is out of control then I cling to the thought that it is all for a reason. I wade through the chaos as best I can, with integrity intact no matter what. Later, when life has become stable again, or when I have relocated to effect stability, then I look back and shake my head, wondering why me, why now.
Time passes and I meet someone who has also had much disruption and chaos in their life. Then I feel that sense of being able to make my world a better place. I can reach out and empathize, maybe share an experience that helps the other person or share info about a resource.
Overall, so many things are important in life, balance most of all. It is when we lose these important things that we, through "trial by fire" grow and learn and become able to help others and leave the world a better place. Sometimes the price is so high that it's a little hard to see life's lessons as the most important thing in life. | |

Posted: 7/6/2006 2:18:51 PM | i've battled many types of illness...have had over 30 surgeries...and am in the middle of kicking cancers a** 
but i regret nothing....it's made me who i am today...and that is someone i'm very proud of. dealing with serious illness isn't easy, but it sure does teach you what's most important in life, and it sure has mellowed me out.
gone are the days of hating myself for not looking just "right" or not having this new toy or that new toy....i have found that i have plenty...and i have friends and family who love me....and that is more than enough for me | |

Without these things life is empty though we may have the best of everything. Why do we spend so little time culivating the good things?
We are living in a society in which such words as love and commitment have been relegated to sentimental, old fashioned nonsense.
Skeptics are only too ready and capable with quick wit and stinging phrases to ridicule those who continue to speak of broken hearts, of devasting loneliness and the power of love.
We have become detached, noncommitted people too sophisticated to admit to our confusion and to caught up to do anything about it.
Time for us to quit perpetuating isolation and devaluing human values. | |
