But I think if you're confident in your walk and your body language MOST girls will give you the chance to talk a bit. But I know girls know if they're attracted to you within like the first 2-5 minutes. So think about it man. Look at yourself and see what you have to offer. Totally correct. But of course, our society sends out contradictory messages that guys (and girls) make the mistake of actually believing. We've all heard them: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", "It's inside what counts", "beauty is only skin deep."
Messages like that are dangerous if taken too literally. In fact, it's those kind of messages that prompt naive guys to start threads like this. They say to themselves "Gosh, surely women aren't so superficial that they'll ignore me entirely just because I'm not tall and good looking." (of course, not everyone will ignore them - but the hotties they wish they could have certainly will)
Us more enlightened types realize how foolish that kind of outlook is. But, despite the lambasting the OP has taken in this thread, is his question really all that foolish considering how most people want to believe it's not just physical appearance that gets a person noticed? | |

Maybe not if your out at a club/bar or some where else and some one can hear your laugh, or watch you with your friends see your personality. The first thing a person sees online if your face, so of course it is all about looks.
So that is what your gonna get, people who are interested in you at first because of how you look. Just the way it is.

I think that the reason they pass average looking guys over is that they basically like to match with a similar type. However I have seen very hot women with people you would call total loosers on talk shows etc.
I suppose its all down to what they find attractive. I would say that Men just look at a woman for one thing. But women have a multitude of things that go through their mind, such as:
How are they dressed
Are they well groomed
Solvant
Independant
Capable of being a good father
Good Kisser
Good Listener .....
The list goes on. I have been out with a hot woman recently who turned out to have a boyfriend. Maybe she wanted her cake and also eat it. Anyway as the expression goes it was good whilst it lasted.

Yeah... I've dated HOT chicks... and I don't look all that hot either. Know what it is? I get AROUND the physical part... I bring attention to the traits i can CONTROL. Like making them laugh, giving them a good time, making them feel that "security" and stuff... I try to be the best at whatever I can do to please them. Just as they do for me once they GET TO KNOW ME... and see past my physical stuff.
I've had girls try and take the same classes as me to try and impress me with THEIR goodies. Why? Because I show them that physical crap gets you only to a certain point... if your looks go by the age of 40, and you have NOTHING ELSE to offer... you've fornicated yourself in a way right?
It just takes a bit more effort for a NOT SO HOT LOOKING GUY... but it IS possible.

I suspect the poster should have said "a majority of men think short, dumpy women are not hot."
No one can make a definitive statement that any particular type is "not hot." But obviously certain types are seen as being much hotter than others. Check out a magazine like Maxim that does top 100 lists on the hottest women in the world. You won't find a short, dumpy woman in the bunch. But you'll certainly find short, dumpy women who outshine some (but not all) of those women when it comes to personality and quality of character. (Similarly, you'll find short, dumpy women with awful personalities and poor quality of character)
However, most men won't turn down an extremely attractive woman in favor of a short, dumpy woman because of her personality. They'll likely do so because the extremely attractive woman isn't interested in them. | |

Posted: 7/30/2009 9:34:10 AM | As someone whose spent 10+ years working in a retirement home & viewing more NUDE elderly men & women than I'd ever care to....I just have to say that no matter how hott or not we are in our youth, we all end up looking exactly the same.
I've seen pictures of these 70-105 year old men & women in their younger days/prime of their lives. Some were stunningly beautiful & as handsome as handsome could be, to turn around & see how cruel life treats our bodies was sometimes shocking. No matter your body type now, you can only hold off gravity for so long.
Perky breasts become saggy udders, scrotum's & tight pecs become empty saggy sacks of skin. Nothing wrong with having personal preference as far as physical beauty is concerned but I'd be careful to put too much of an emphasis on that alone & bypass the "average" folks with awesome personalities & hearts of gold. Those things don't fade.  | |
