| Why are men threatened by an Independent, educated woman??? [CLOSED] Posted: 6/27/2007 10:25:16 PM |
Now here is what I really think: feminism has created a divide between male and female, and we are both lost in our genders, roles, and our relationships suffer greatly.
You know...I hear this argument about "feminism having RUINED everything", quite a bit lately...
I'm wondering if these people really BELIEVE that ANY change is just a SMOOTH transition from one state of being to the next based on reason and rational thinking and calm discussion?!?!!?
Let's face it folks...things HAD to change!!! Women were dying for want of the right to "choose" for themselves a safe, effective, AVAILABLE form of birth control...The average woman's salary in the 50's was often less than HALF of the average man's IF she was able to find employment at ALL!! I could go on....
The point is that revolution habitually leaves a REAL mess in it's wake upon passing...The pendulum swung too far in one direction, will swing EQUALLY far in the opposite direction, before, finally and ultimately coming to rest somewhere in the middle...

| Why are men threatened by an Independent, educated woman??? [CLOSED] Posted: 6/28/2007 6:06:45 AM | Good reminder Dee4166 on why things had to change. I find it interesting that the only place I hear "feminism RUINED everything" is here in the Forums... never in real life. Maybe it is the type of friends I keep...LOL
I've wondered if this turbulance is just the pendulum swinging back. Then again, the people who are aggitated about it have NO adult memory of how it was BEFORE feminism... so it also occurs to me that they must be comparing our current existence to some idealized fantasy they hold that resembles "Leave It to Beaver" or "Dick Van Dyke Show"... shows or reruns they watched when they were children.

| Why are men threatened by an Independent, educated woman??? [CLOSED] Posted: 6/28/2007 8:19:10 AM | | I don't think feminism ruined things initially because in it's beginnings it was a nessesity to gain equal rights, pay etc. The problem is that today's version of "feminism" is usually abused or used selfishly to gain the upper hand in a lot of cases. I believe in equality between the sexes not so called feminism. Feminism of today is more of a female chauvinism, which accomplishes nothing and keeps the circle of hatred and discontentment going. | |
