Do we have a POFA (annonymous) meeting anywhere?
I don't even know what i'm doing on this site ... But alas, here I am.
I guess you could say i'm a born again heterosexual. That is bound to get a few giggles and chuckles out there. I'm grooming myself to be more assertive in being more direct with guys and trying out picking them up vs. waiting for them to make a move.
That's a tall order for myself :) I'm the quiet, shy and reserved type. Although my profile could clearly depict the opposite with my gutsy shots and out there look. But after being with women for the past 10 years, it's time to give the other team a try.
Any suggestions for someone jumping into the pool? Besides avoid the barracuda's and pirrhana's?

Sorry, that was an old joke some comedian told after seeing Glen Campbell at a White House reception. He said all you could hear, no matter where you went around the White House, was a high pitched voice saying, "Hi, I'm Glen Campbell."
But I'm not Glen Campbell. They call me Avidog, which is apparently better than calling me Gary, my real name. I'm not a newbie. I've been fishing here for some years now. Never caught much, but I've met a few nice people along the way. Nibbles, I think they call them. I'm bored, bored, bored and looking to meet someone interesting and exciting, but those ones often turn out to be lesbians. Go figure. That's okay though, because lesbians can make good friends too.
I'm living in Ashcroft, BC, right now, but planning a move soon, just don't know where yet. I've been known to just catch a plane and change countries; done it a few times. Or maybe it'll be a remote cabin in the woods, where I can hone my survival skills. A city wouldn't be out of the question, but the dog prefers a rural life.
I work in the publishing industry, have a beautiful dog who keeps me company, drive a Saturn that thinks it's a Jaguar, have dual citizenship, was once arrested for environmental terrorism, and I'm convinced Osama Bina Patsy. If you check out my profile you'll find I like what I call Earth girls, that is women who seldom if ever wear makeup. Makeup is okay on stage or for glamour models, but it usually looks silly for everyday wear. Everything in moderation, I guess.
At various times in my life I've been a paparazzi, a gold prospector, a political bag-man, a seafarer and a song-and-dance man. I seldom drink but have a prescription for marijuana in pill form. It's really a stomach medicine, you know, and it works too. I'm not really looking for another woman in my life, but the right one would be welcome just the same.

I'm passionate, irrational and currently have an unhealthy obsession with text-messaging. I just got out of a 4.5 year relationship, and with my current schedule (cardio bootcamp in the mornings, work all day, school at night, 5 days a week) I find it hard to meet people worth friendship or dating.
I'd love to chat with people in the Lower Mainland, and see where things go. :) | |

| Can not get any dates my age....I need advice
Posted: 6/9/2008 1:33:46 AM | I am in my late fifties and have spent hundreds of hours over the past couple of years messaging women in my age group with very little response.I am comfortably retired, fit,well educated,have raise a nice family but have been divorce for 7 years.The odd women I have dated always says nice guy,intelligent ,good communicator etc but no chemistry.(over the years I reckon I have had 50 dates in 7 years most of them just one date situations)
I am sick at heart because I really do not want to grow old alone but after 7 years of trying singles events,blindates,online dating I have nothing but wasted time to show for it.I have always been successful through hard work however no matter how hard I work at finding a mate I end up with nothing.I have watched one friend after another do well on here & other places which hurts even more.
Can someone please tell me what is wrong with me or what I am doing wrong?

I've lived in Vancouver for about 18 years now (really don't like it that much anymore), am musically inclined (blues/jazz/swing/roots R&B), sucking the marrow out of life and trying not to choke on the bone. Anyway, I'm quite social and trying to rebuild a dating life after the divorce and all that... la da dee dah dee dum.
I am kind of unusual here- I was born and raised in B.C. (Powell River). I expect that I will probably be moving to the USA next year, or the year after that, at the latest. It's a long story. Between then and now, who can say? Anything can happen, right?
I program a radio show if anyone's interested; I play music of the 1920's 30's & 40's on CiTR 101.9 FM. On Thursday mornings: 10 til noon. It's non-commercial, of course!

I still find the whole idea a bit alien though because I've always sort of been "old-fashioned" when it comes to chemistry and dating. I feel like I'm shopping for a man when it should just happen all like fate and baby angels aiming for your butt. Oh well! whatcha gonna do.... guess I'm a hopeless romantic. As for plenty of fish, I've heard so much about it (a co-worker of mine actually just got married to someone he met on here) I thought I'd give it a go. My goal isn't to find a wife, mind you, or even for dating purposes just to meet some cool people and see what develops from there. It's crazy, I've already met alot of people I know on here.. small world.
